  1. That's just like Line6 - in .2b they gave me everything I wanted, then in .2c they gave YOU everything YOU wanted and that TOTALLY hosed the thing I wanted most! Alas, poor Spikey hopes to fare better in 2d. Let us pray!
  2. Sometimes a guess is as good as a wink to a dead horse! For 10,000 Galactic Credits, which album title is that a play on? Hint: Happens when you make Humble Pie.....
  3. Did you see datacommando's avatar? ;-)
  4. I don't think you can bypass effects on the HXFX from another device without using MIDI. If that's not what you're asking, you might want to try rephrasing your question, be a little more exact about what you're try to do, because I sure can't make heads or tails of it.
  5. Check Ideascale, that's where you need to post feature requests. BEFORE YOU SUBMIT A NEW IDEA - DO A SEARCH! I'm pretty sure this has already been requested, and if so it's best to keep the votes all in one place.
  6. Yes. You might want to save the Bigsky preset that's being replaced to a different location before you copy it's replacement.
  7. The hardware will be updatable until it can no longer handle the needs of it's SW. No one can predict how long that will be, a long time we hope. Updates are free. The Stomp has all of the same amps/cabs/effects as the larger units, just less physical routing options and you can't use as many amps/effects in each preset due to limited available DSP. Software modelers suffer from latency issues and are subject to the vagaries of their operating systems - YAY! IT'S PATCH THURSDAY EVERYONE! HOLD YOUR BREATH! I have all the major players, and no two Plexis or Rectos sound the same. MIDI control is decent to iffy to minimal and between the interfaces and controllers is a PITA and not really practical for LIVE PERFORMANCE use.. The good news there is that Helix Native sounds just like the Helix hardware, and (usually) gets updated on the same schedule as the hardware.
  8. Since you can't specify which PC# Stomp sends - 01a = 000 ; 01b = 001 ; 01c = 002 etc, whichever Bigsky preset responds to those #s will be called. If you want a specific Bigsky preset to be called from multiple Stomp presets, it will need to be stored in multiple locations on the Bigsky.

    HEADPHONES

AND in post #2008 on page 101, from DI himself! Justin Hitchborn said: ↑ "Yes. The headphone amp isn't as large as the one in Helix/LT/Rack because of board real estate; that's really the only thing that isn't quite identical to its bigger brothers. " DEFINITIVE! EDIT: ONLY 298 pages to go!

    HEADPHONES

Since my Stomp won't arrive till Friday, I decided to wade through the TGP HX Stomp thread. There, in post #1975 on page 99(!) I found a reference that confirms (though not actual specs) what you said. So, for OP's edification (thanks to elantric): quick tip - for the relatively weak Headphone Output on HX Stomp Edit : to clarify when using 250ohm Beyer DT880 headphones Samson QH4 - headphone amp http://www.samsontech.com/samson/products/processors/qh4/qh4/

    HEADPHONES

Where did you find the specs for the headphone output? They're not in either Helix or HXS manuals.
  12. Back when I had an HD500 I considered getting a DT amp, but never had the coin. When I was looking at the Helix before I bought it I remember thinking that I was glad I hadn't done that, since it looked like L6 was phasing out support for the DT amp. I didn't even own one, but I knew about that, from reading about it in advance. No, I can't give you a link to where I read it, but the information WAS out there. Now they've come up with a fix for the topology problem. It may not be ideal from your viewpoint, but at least they haven't abandoned the DT.
  13. Here's a link to a lengthy article on the subject: https://www.soundonsound.com/techniques/gain-staging-your-daw-software Here's a relevant excerpt: "If you take the sound with the highest peak levels and set it so that it peaks at between -12 and -18dBFS, you shouldn't run into problems with plug-ins or summing on the mix bus. If these figures look different to those I discussed in relation to analogue gear, remember that the meters are different, and you're actually leaving about the same 20dB headroom. I wouldn't expect to see peaks on the channel meters reading more than -8 to -10dBFS (and lower is often better). The highest level track in your mix will vary, but in rock and pop it's usually the kick or snare. Set a rough balance of your other tracks in relation to that track and you should be good to go."
  14. Define "appropriate recording level"?
  15. There's a third category - "Look at all these fools! I'm SO above all that!" Not that I'm inferring that's what you're implying......I'm sure it's just an innocent observation of the human condition......:-) The one thing that all three camps have in common - we are all, like, SO BORED waiting for the update that we're having this discussion.....AGAIN! 10 days and counting.......
  16. Flying for the first time with my Helix floor. No problem, I think. Just throw the backpack in the overhead. Maybe. UAL says 22" max length. Backpack is almost 26" with handle. Anybody have any experience flying with one of these?
  17. HXS only sends a hardwired PC# when a preset is loaded. It doesn't have the configurable Command Center feature.
  18. OP was asking about the LEVEL of the repeats, not the amount (# of) repeats.
  19. I'd call it "Breakfast with Jack and Coke".
  20. Mine's on all the time I'm on, but I never noticed that! Now I'll have to keep an eye on it, just to see (arf arf)! What a weird bug!
  21. Yeah....plug a calibration mic into the mic input, place it at the"listening point" in the room, press the "Calibrate FM Block button", grab a big ole 'A' chord and VOILA! FM Block calibrated at that db level! I love it! Next time I'm really bored I'll put it up on Ideascale......maybe in v4.0? ETA Spring 2035.......
  22. Never been, but was married to a beautiful cajun lady from New Orleans. Best and worst times of my life!
  23. It was my experience when I was writing SW that no matter how many geeks and robots tested the product, it always took an everyday user to break it.....
