  1. No, it's not! BRAVO! HEAR! HEAR!
  2. You can't route your DAW output to ONLY the headphones. You can route it to the XLR (USB 1/2 Destination = XLR) and then monitor the XLRs thru the headphones (Head Phones Monitor = XLR).

    double post, sorry

I thought it looked familiar. I didn't respond the first time because you'd already hit it. We see the same questions over and over. It's pointless to tell them "search before you post", so we just answer them. The worst is when the same guy doesn't get the answer he wants, so he posts the question again, as if different people will respond with the answer he wants? Then we answer him again, 'cause who remembers who asked what..... I don't get it either.

    double post, sorry

Make sure you're not connected to a USB Hub. Usually, the front USB ports on a desktop are a hub, so connect to the ports on the back. Make sure that HX Edit and the Helix are on the latest (2.71) version. If not, install the HX Edit file from L6 website. It installs everything you need. Backup the Helix FIRST, then install HX Edit, close HX Edit, then run the Updater. If you're connected to a good port and everything is updated, you should be good. If not, try re-installing HXEdit (to re-install the drivers). If still no good, call support.
  5. There"s a momentary audio drop between PRESETS. That's normal, and the length of the dropout depends on how long it takes to load the new preset - how DSP intensive it is. That's why there's snapshots, and once you get used to using them, it's actually easier. The limitations are that you have to use the same amps and effects, so if you absolutely must change from a low-gain amp to a high-gain amp and you don't have enough DSP in the preset to include both, then you need to account for the audio drop on preset change in the phrasing of your playing. Compromises. Life's like that!
  6. The wishlist is called "Ideascale": https://line6.ideascale.com/ Nobody from L6 pays attention here. Lots of people will contribute (because they're bored and don't know any better?), but if you want your wish to matter, use Ideascale. If you DO use Ideascale, PLEASE search to see if your idea has already been submitted. 3 votes each for 20 identical ideas will NOT be as effective as 60 votes in one place for the idea!
  7. If it continues after a reboot, you should open a support ticket. Bad Robot!
  8. Lots of people make the very understandable mistake of thinking that, since this is the OFFICIAL Line6 Community Helix thread, that L6 reps are paying attention here. They probably prefer TGP because: a) Most people here already own the product, they'd be preaching to the choir b) TGP has smileys! :-)
  9. WELL, excuuuse me!
  10. If it's that important to you to be "kept in the loop", get ye over to The Gear Page, Digital and Modeling Forum, Helix 2.8 thread. It's 99 pages long, and it's where L6 has been keeping us in the loop all along.
  11. You've been spending too much time wiggling your mouse..... :-)
  12. We keep requesting smileys, but :-) will have to do!
  13. I have to assume that's some kind of attempt at humor, as there's a respose from DI right above your post, and he posts constantly in every L6 related thread over on TGP.....
  14. So THAT'S why the update isn't done yet! :-)
  15. Use 4cm if you want fx before AND after your amp's preamp (GUITAR>HXFX IN>FX>SEND BLOCK>HXFX SEND>AMP IN> AMP SEND>HXFX RETURN>FX>HXFX OUT>AMP RETURN) . Otherwise, if I get what you're asking, GUITAR>AMP IN>AMP SEND>HXFX IN>FX>HXFX OUT>AMP RETURN. No SEND Block required.
  16. You consume food (the oil comes out of the ground). Your digestive system processes the food into useful and waste components (gas and refinery pollution). Your blood carries the various components to the required locations (the pipelines to the gas station and environment). Insulin forces the nutrients into your cells (you put the gas in the car). The nutrients are converted to energy in the mitochondria of your cells (the engine of your car). Your cells now have the energy to turn on your computer and wiggle your mouse (double entendre intended). If we could harness all the energy that we gear fetishists waste wiggling our mice and worrying about gear and updates and all that rot, we could replace the filthy carbon fuels whose waste products are killing us slowly......something that makes worrying about a delayed update seem pretty silly! Or, to quote an old folk song - "Little wheel spin and spin while the big wheel turns around and around".
  17. The G10 I have had major problems with the active boost circuit in my LP. That could be due to the proximity of the transmitter to the circuit. Most likely, with the G30/G50 and other battery pack systems, that won't be a problem. Best bet - when you get close to gig time, buy whatever system you settle on from someplace with a good return policy. That way, if it's not 100% satisfactory you can return it for something else. Caledoneus' note about the metal casing on the G50 is worth considering - it's not a gentle art that we practice....
  18. One stereo fx loop or two mono with adapters to split the 1/4" send. And you'd be using 2 of the 6 available blocks and 2 of the 3 footswitches right there. MIDI is VERY limited - fixed PC only - corresponding to the preset - preset 01A = PC#000, 01B = 001 etc Unless you're really wanting to use your Mesa power amp section with different pre-amps, or the ampless thing is really important, you're better off with HXFX as cruisinon2 said.
  19. YES to 4cm YES to pedals in Loop NO to changing amp channels NO to most things requiring configurable OUTGOING MIDI YES to Exp Pedal control of Stomp effects
  20. Check Ideascale to see if it's already been proposed. If not, put it up there!
  21. I've never used more than 3. You can usually get 2 per path, but amps are very DSP intensive, so you start running out of resources for other things. Experiment. Have Fun! Yes, you can use snapshots to change amps. I usually use 2 amps. A clean amp and one that sounds good with a crunch and a heavy sound. Then I use snapshots to change the amp settings to get as many variations as those amps + OD/Distortion boxes can give me. Since you're going 4cm, you can also work your real pre-amp and amp channels in. VERY flexible arrangement.
  22. In Global/Preferences, set Snapshot Edits to "Recall". Go to snapshot 1. Deactivate the wah. Save the preset. Go to Snapshot 2. Repeat. When you get to snapshot 8, activate the wah, then save the preset. Now go back to the snapshot you want the preset to open on. Save the preset.
  23. Use 4cm. put your front of amp effects first, then a Helix pre-amp, then an FX Loop Block, then your post amp effects. Set it up to toggle the Helix pre-amp and FX Loop Block - when the FX Loop is ON, the Helix pre-amp is off and you're going through your amp's pre. When the Loop is OFF the Helix pre-amp is ON and you're using the Helix pre-amp through your amp's power section. Best of both worlds!
  24. Make sure that the amp and Helix are plugged into a Line Conditioner - a good EMI filtered power strip should do it. Make sure the power strip isn't on the same house circuit as fluorescent lights, rheostats, refrigerators, microwaves, etc. Swap out cables. Check if the noise is in the headphones or just the amp. Does it have a ground switch? You'll want the 1/4" OUT set to INSTRUMENT. Depending on your pickup's output (SC, HB?), you might want to set the Input Pad. Turn on the Noise Gate. Turn down guitar volume. Turn off all the effects. Turn them back on one at a time. All I can think of just now.
  25. Guitar to Helix INPUT. Insert Pre Amp Effects (Distortion, Mods, delays, whatever). Run a SEND to the amp's input (set to Instrument), then take the LINE OUT from the amp to the Helix RETURN (set to LINE - puts the Fender preamp in a Helix Loop). Put the Helix 1/4 out at he end of Path A. then wire it back back to a different return. Use that return as the input to PATH B with an IR/CAB whose output goes to the XLR OUT and on to a second amp, PA or other FRFR cab. However, it'll probably sound awful. ALL the effects in PATH A, AND the Fender preamp (I'm assuming that the LINE OUT is before the POWER AMP, as I've never seen a Fender with a Reactive Load Box built in - certainly NOT in a Tweed) will be on that line. So now you need a POWER AMP emulation, since Helix doesn't split the Pre and Power amp sections of it's amps. You can get something like the Mooer Radar (cheap - $150) which has power amp emulations and IRs. Run the LINE OUT to a Helix RETURN, use that RETURN as INPUT to a second PATH, then put the Mooer in another LOOP on that PATH with the desired after amp effects (before and/or after the Mooer Loop). PATH B OUT goes to XLY then FOH/second amp/FRFR. Or you could put the Mooer between the Fender and Helix, but that restricts you to putting the effects after the IR. Either way, that would allow the after amp effects you want, but only in that signal path, they wouldn't come out of the Fender (AND you get 4 more AD/DA conversions - 2 at the Mooer and 2 for the Loop) and send that to the FOH/second amp/FRFR. I count 8 AD/DA conversions at 2ms (IIRC) each for 16ms added latency and possible related Tone Suck - you're using the Fender for the TONE, right? You could also get a Reactive Load Box (not cheap) which does the same thing as the Mooer (IRs) but allows for using your amp's power amp in the chain (using the amp's second speaker out IF it has one, instead of the LINE OUT) instead of an emulation, with attenuation if desired. Two Notes Torpedo Capture runs $250. There's lots of other possibilities, but those are the cheapest I know of. Oh, almost forgot - if you want more effects AFTER the amp, you might be able to run a LINE OUT from the LOAD BOX back to a Helix RETURN as described above, but keep in mind what I said about AD/DA conversions and Latency. To summarize, while there are no doubt other variations on the things I've mentioned, it sounds like a whole lot of expense and complication for what will probably be a less than satisfactory outcome. We all love our Fender amps, but what you're wanting to do requires a proper Effects Loop in the amp.
