All the effects and amps have cute little icons too. A nod of the head to the skeuomorphics fans. Nice!

And how do you know that the people you're insulting AREN"T women? None of us have posted pictures of ourselves. You're insulting people who you THINK are men, but who may in fact be women, by implying feminine characteristics, which means you consider feminine characteristics somehow defective. That's misogyny. And challenging a man's masculinity in a derogatory way, a man you have never met, makes you a homophobe. You're really angry, and have no idea what the limits of public discussion are. I've never seen anyone on this or any other forum go to the extremes you've gone to. You really DO need therapy.
-
Do you know what a "misogynist" is? It's that person you see in the mirror. You really should get therapy. You have BIG problems! EDIT: Add "homophobe" to the list.

Control the volume on the iPad. The Trim setting is only for if there's not enough or too hot a signal from the device.
-
In Global-Ins/Outs there's a setting for USB 1/2 Destination. Set it to wherever your monitors are connected. It won't be affected by the effects (bypasses signal chain). Headphones are always connected.

You can copy the whole preset, as long as the IR is in the specified position it'll still work. What I'm saying is that: A) I didn't find all that many presets that I liked (and between the Freman big pack and GD, that's a LOT of presets) B) You can copy the whole preset, but copying bits and pieces won't work well C) I spent so much time auditioning them and trying to make them sound the way I wanted, I could've learned how to make my own That time spent messing around with the paid presets wasn't totally wasted, I learned a lot, BUT...... When I got my Helix (9/16) there weren't many quality teaching vids available. Now there are LOTS! As always, IMHO, YMMV.
-
Sure, you can copy an amp or effect with it's settings from one preset to another. But it isn't likely going to sound the same in your preset as in the preset it came from. A preset is more than it's individual parts. It's the sum of ALL it's parts. You can also copy non-proprietary IRs. But many of those IRs have been tuned for the presets in the pack, and won't sound the same in YOUR preset. You can waste an awful lot of time trying to do what you're asking, and end up with crap. OR, you can take that same amount of time and learn how to use the tool you paid so much money for. When I got my Helix (moving from an HD500X), I bought packs from both GD and Freman. A few of the presets sounded good. Overall, I wish I'd taken the time I spent auditioning and modding all those presets and used it to learn how to do it myself. Spend some time on YouTube watching the Jason Sadites videos on creating Helix presets and using snapshots. It's time well spent.

The digital gods smiled upon me! Update successful first try - Stomp and Floor - on separate W10 laptops.

OH DARN! I knew all along they wouldn't be smart enough to post to the official sticky. I was just hoping to trick you into missing the update. But no, you're way too smart for me! You continued to follow THIS thread, despite our pointless blathering and schoolgirl (isn't that sexist?) humor. Anyway, hope you enjoy the update! BTW - now that you know L6 won't be smart enough to post factual update info to an official sticky, you should start your very own "Where's 2.9" thread, but be sure to include "JUST THE FACTS!" in the thread title, to prevent all us smart-aleck schoolgirls from hijacking your thread with pointless humor!

I dropped by the TGP Helix 2.8 thread and discovered that I was, like, 15 pages behind! So I caught up, and just had to laugh. There's one of these going on over there too. That person managed to be offended by a "beating a dead horse" emoji, and Frank R's flying/aircraft metaphors! As Gunpoint metal said, "some people's kids"!

Did you check the sticky?

If your question is "Why bother with the HW Helix when you can get the same sound out of Native?", then consider that the Helix is made for live gigging and is much more stable and durable than the computer you'd need to use Native. Also, you'd still need some kind of MIDI pedal board to control Native - to bypass effects and change snapshots for instance. Helix is direct to your speaker/monitor/board, Native has latency. From a recording standpoint, again, latency. With HW Helix you can direct monitor, no latency. And again, ability to bypass effects and change snapshots, PLUS the ability to record those changes for the purpose of automating live performance. While that could be done manually from within the DAW, it's much easier to record it. Using HW Helix you can record the effected track and a "clean" track. The "clean" track can then be used to try out different sounds with Native. IOW, simplified re-amping. There's probably more, but that's what I can think of for now.

OMG! POLITICS TOO! BAD SOUNDOG! No soup for you!

If this is pure and simple.... It's coming from your heart, not your head.... It's not likely this moment will be ending with a kiss.... But I'm happy to just be leaving it at this..... Somebody pass PDKTDK a coconut!

Or an army of beauty queens.....that's why 2.8 is taking so long! We're getting Beauty Queens! Now I'm REALLY excited!

I repeat, for the comprehension challenged, sometimes the best support is humor. I never said you were RE-defining it. I said you were DEFINING it. This forum has ALWAYS been a community of musicians, saying what we feel like and employing humor in our discussions, as humans are wont to do. There's no rule-book that says "Serious technical discussions ONLY! No Funnin' allowed!" That's the problem with free people, trying to keep us in line is like herding cats. When are you going to acknowledge the oft made point that there's an official L6 sticky for serious folks like you, who want "Just the facts, ma'am". Your only purpose with these posts is to start a fight. I'd rather laugh and have fun! You're welcome to join us, but if you can't get the stick out, go somewhere else to be a party pooper.
-
I repeat, for the comprehension challenged - Who appointed you to define the purpose of this forum or the words we can speak on it? Sometimes the best support is humor. About growing up, it includes being able to acknowledge when you've been a horse's a$$. Every reply you make is spouting more road apples.
-
Who appointed you the determiner of this forum's "intended purpose"? Yes, we are! And having a good time doing it! This entire thread was pointless since the OP started it. I REPEAT AGAIN AND AGAIN...there's a sticky for you folks who want factual information about the update. Nothing anyone posts here is anything more than conjecture. And we'll continue having a good time with our undisciplined and pointless blatherings, if for no other reason than to tick off you and Andy. In fact, that COULD become the point of this thread. I can't speak for everybody, but I don't exist to serve ANYONE'S purposes but my own. Don't like it? Tough. Most of the posters on this thread who are having the most fun with it have been here longer than you, have made many more posts than you, and have helped lots of people with actual technical questions. You come on here, criticize and insult us for having fun, then tell US to lighten up? Take your own advice!

I didn’t ask mr. Steinberg or examine the code, but information provided at the Sonar forum (I think), combined with the fact that no vst3 plugin that i’ve tried responds to pc#s would indicate it.
-
IIRC, I’m using the vst2 version, as I do with all plugins that use presets, because for some reason, Steinerg didn’t implement PC#s in the vst3 spec. I discovered this long ago trying to use the Ampltube vst3 version in Sonar. However, even if they had, Native has not yet implemented that function. Why? “Why is the sky blue daddy?”

Use Hx Stomp to change presets on other pedals using MIDI
rd2rk replied to Matthias_Gudel's topic in Helix
If the Stomp midi pc tx is set to transmit on usb and the midi out port, and midiox is set to receive from there, then you should be good to go. I don’t have a strymon, but I use this method to control Amplitube, TH3 and other vsts. Same thing, just sw vs hw. Recheck your globals. Try disabling midi thru via usb. I’m out of town for the weekend, so i can’t try it, or even say for sure if there’s a setting on the stomp to do that, but iirc, the floor is either or. I could be wrong. Sorry, back on Tuesday. Good luck! -
This weekend I'm flying to Michigan for my mom's 90th B'day. I had intended to bring a guitar so that I could play for her, as she's never heard me on guitar - only bass, and you know the old joke - "What's more boring than a 20 minute drum solo? A 2 minute bass solo!" Anyhow, I knew I'd have to rent an amp when I got there, but: My Steinberger, a throw it in the overhead travel guitar when I bought it 15 years ago, is now 6 inches too long. NOBODY makes a hard case for it anymore. My Strat has a TSA approved flight case with the special TSA locks and everything. Measured without the latches and hinges it's EXACTLY the right size to check in for the usual $30 baggage charge. If you measure it at the hinges/latches, it's ONE INCH OVER! One inch = additional $150! $180 to bring my guitar in it's VERY expensive TSA approved case! I wound up renting a guitar too, much cheaper & lots less hassle. BUT - I"d bet that if I wanted to take my emotional support 3 toed sloth I'd have no problem at all! Not that 3 toed sloths shouldn't have the same right to fly as the rest of us......

Good point (there are different forums for different purposes)! His point is invalid! This thread was NEVER an OFFICIAL L6 thread. It was, from the beginning, about user commentary. Some complained, others defended, occasionally DI jumped in to clarify something for someone. But it was never the OFFICIAL source of information. His point is based entirely on the idea that this thread IS somehow official and should be devoted to official pronouncements, and that someone might be inconvenienced by not being able to find the information they should be looking for in the sticky without wading through a lot of "irrelevant stuff". The OFFICIAL L6 thread for announcements concerning release 2.8 is the sticky at the top of the forum, a fact that he steadfastly refuses to acknowledge, then accuses everyone else of "breach of etiquette" and other gross crimes against humanity! Thereby, using his invalid point to justify his own behavior! My coconut is empty.....need more rum!
-
Fill a bunch of coconuts with rum and what do you get? A 2.8 PRE-RELEASE PARTY!
