I think you're on the wrong forum. Unless someone here has experience with both the NUX and the Engl, which is not likely. You'll probably need to be on a NUX forum (or support). That said, I'll have a go.... HX FX sends MIDI PC#s 0-127. It's not clear from the NUX manual, but my guess is that it sends 1-128. Therefore, PC#0 on HXFX = PC#1 on the NUX. DISCLAIMER: I don't own either the Engl or the NUX. However, I'm pretty good at reading/deciphering technical manuals. Here you have a Chinese manual and a German manual translated to English, possiby by a native Hindi speaker. No wonder you're confused. I'll do the best I can. Create a preset to use for programming the NUX. This will only be used for programming the NUX. In Command Center, set buttons to send PC#s on whatever channel the NUX is set to receive on. EDITED to change PC to CC Set button 1 to CC#1. This will be CLEAN-LO Set button 2 to CC#2. This will be CLEAN-HI Set button 3 to CC#3. This will be LEAD-LO Set button 4 to CC#4. This will be LEAD-HI Connect a stereo cable from Switcher 1/2 to CLEAN/LEAD-GAIN/BOOST. Enter ASSIGN mode on the NUX. Press button 1 on HXFX. Configure the NUX 1/2 buttons for CLEAN-LO (1 and 2 OFF or whatever works). Press SAVE. Press button 2 on HXFX. Configure the NUX 1/2 buttons for CLEAN-HI (1 ON 2 OFF or whatever works). Press SAVE. Repeat the process for LEAD-LO/LEAD-HI. Assuming it works, you can now assign PC#s 1-4 to HXFX ICs and buttons as required. According to the Engl manual, "Channel switching Clean - Lead (mono terminal)" I assume means TIP. "Gain Lo - Hi (stereo terminal)" would then be RING. As I interpret the NUX manual, if the button light is ON that = circuit ON, If OFF = circuit OFF. If flashing, start over. Switcher 1 is TIP, 2 is RING. Keep in mind I haven't had my coffee yet. I'll do that now. Let me know how it goes!

Are you sure you're on 2.71? The FILE menu is where Backup should be. I'm already on 2.8, and haven't had a W7 box since LONG before Helix, but I know it used to be there..... Are you REALLY SURE you don't want to wait till Monday? Considering the problems some, many wth W7, have been having?

Helix is the world's best amp and effects modeler. Helix is NOT a profiler. That's called a Kemper Profiling Amp. Helix has a barebones looper. If you need a full-featured looper, that's called a BOSS Loop Station. Helix is not a custom amp designer. That's called BIAS AMP. BUT...BUT....Why can't Helix be a Profiling amp/full-featured looper/custom amp designer? Because then it couldn't be the world's best modeler! Well, maybe if it cost $10,000! (imagine the update nightmare!) Horses for courses. Once upon a time, DENTISTS were called BARBERS. I wonder why that changed?

Check out posts by rubytopaz over on the TGP Digital and Modeling Helix thread. He's currently using two of them plus two powercabs. Awesome guitar player too!

Go here: https://line6.ideascale.com/a/index Do a search for "poweramp" and/or "power amp". Vote for as many as you like! As cruisinon2 said, nobody knows. and nobody from L6 would tell if they did!

Embedded Zero Day Vulnerabilities "for spikey's tuner only" through v9.5 at least!

Bless you brother-man! May good tones follow wherever life takes you! ;-)

I stand corrected! I learn something new everyday. Is that the way the MIX parameter works on ALL the Helix effects? I could be wrong, but I seem to have read somewhere that some effect (might not even have been a Helix effect) works the way I described.

I'm pretty sure that 100% MIX means that the level of the effected sound equals the level of the clean sound. IOW, it's additive, not subtractive. More effect relative to the clean sound, not LESS clean sound.

Did you open a support ticket? Yours is the only report of this I've seen, and they're not going to see your post unless you open a ticket and point them to it.

BTW and FWIW - I haven't made any suggestions for dialing in acoustic tones because I rarely play acoustic - but when I do, a tiny bit of Compression and a hint of Room reverb are all it takes. No amp sim or fancy processing required, and it sounds EXACTLY like my Epi DR500MCE in a nice room! Add a bit of Vibrato or Chorus for effect if you like, and EQ to taste. Run it thru a full range speaker (which I HATE for electric), I'm golden. YMMV.

Ideascale search results for "Acoustic": That's 277 results for "Acoustic". Ideascale search for "Helix Acoustic": That's 78 results for "Helix Acoustic". 5 of the first 6 results were requests for an acoustic amp or preamp. Together they garnered 2935 votes. If all 5 of those posters had done a search first, the first request would have had nearly 3,000 votes. Instead they split those votes 5 ways. And that's looking at just the first 5 posts in the search. There's probably more farther down in the results. THAT'S why I made the suggestion so emphatically. FWIW - There were 26 words in my initial post. FOUR were in caps. That's FAR from "all caps". Community search for "Acoustic": 1874 posts is a lot to sort through, and certainly they wouldn't all pertain directly to dialing in acoustic tones, but 2 dozen dozen (minimum definition of dozens) is 288. You've still got a lot of reading to do! :-) Good Luck! I SINCERELY (and I DO mean SINCERELY) hope you find what you're looking for and make lots of great music!

Just because a device has lots of headroom doesn't mean that using it all makes for a better recording. Once you've run this thru VST effects (like Native or some other amp sim) you'll likely have used additional amounts of that headroom. As I understand it, the possibility of digital distortion starts at 0db. IIRC, the recommended input level for Native is somewhere between -24 and -14db.

Starting with the assumption that BOTH the Helix and Amp are set to MIDI Channel 1. From a quick look at the manual, this: - MIDI operation Pressing the FOOTCONTROLLER / MIDI PROGRAM switch twice puts the amplifier in MIDI waiting mode, the LED will flash until a valid MIDI program change command is received Sets the amp to receive a MIDI Program Change message, and isn't necessary for Channel changes. Setting a Helix switch (or Instant Command) to send a CC# (16-17-18-19) with a Value (0-1-2) SHOULD change the channel and mode.

Thought I'd update this thread. The word "raspy" is like others applied to individual perceptions of sound - harsh, fizzy, creamy, chewy, etc. Subjective. My TS210 crossover is at 2.5khz. The FRFR112 is worse - 2k. After trying everything with eq, I bought the Tweaker. 1-12" speaker and FX Loop, Marshall, Vox and Fender tone stacks. I got an insane deal on a NEW Tweaker 15 combo (GC price match to a MF "Stupid deal of the day). Same price as the used one. Problem solved. I don't like the sound of the tweeter, that simple. With the Tweaker, using 4cm, I can use either the amp's preamp or the Helix preamps. No harsh, fizzy tweeter, and the Tweaker sounds really good on it's own or with the Helix amps/preamps. I can use a cab and eq on a separate path for approximate FOH tone matching with my Alto and FRFR112. I decided on the Tweaker over a DT25 or Powercab because : A) Price B) Weight C) K.I.S.S. Then L6 released the Powercab+ 212. Instant G.A.S. If a financial windfall comes my way..... I'd like to see a lightweight, high wattage two-way speaker with adjustable crossover AND tweeter level. AFAIK, that doesn't exist. At least, not in a product that I can afford. Thanks to all for your helpful comments.

The answer is in the question. The word "harsh" is like others applied to individual perceptions of sound - fizzy, creamy, chewy, etc. Subjective. I had the same issue with my TS210. The crossover is at 2.5khz. After trying everything with eq, I bought an amp with 1-12" speaker and FX Loop (Egnator Tweaker 15 - Marshall, Vox and Fender tone stacks). Problem solved. We don't like the sound of the tweeter, that simple. With a real guitar amp, using 4cm, it's possible to use either the amp's preamp or the Helix preamps. No harsh, fizzy tweeter. Unfortunately, in your case, neither the Princeton nor the Vox have an FX loop. I'd like to see a two-way speaker with adjustable crossover AND tweeter level. AFAIK, that doesn't exist. At least, not in a product that I can afford.

In Globals-MIDI turn OFF PC Send. By default, on preset load, Helix sends: MSB 0 Value 0 LSB 32 Value Current Setlist # (0-7) Helix MIDI Preset# (0-127) It used to also send CC#61, but that appears to have been fixed in 2.8. If you turn off PC Send, it sends nothing. If you're still having that problem, use a MIDI monitor tool like MIDIOX (or whatever the MAC equivalent is) to find out what it's actually sending. There might be a monitor tool in Ableton, I'm not sure. You might have to do a complete Factory reset to solve the problem, but first find out exactly what the problem is.

So far it appears to be a subset. Hopefully that will be fleshed out in future updates.
-
Maybe it's broke? MIne works fine - I'm clicking it on/off at this very moment!
-
But it does! It's just really stiff, you have to lean into it.

IIRC, if the REAL amp doesn't have a master, the default setting of 10 is the real amp's proper power amp level. Since the Deluxe does not have a master, leave that at 10 and use the Gain setting for amp volume, and the Channel volume for final amp block output. Channel volume does not affect tone, except as it affects gain staging of the following blocks.

Latency rears it's ugly head when you're trying to send an analog signal into a DAW, process it with VSTs (like Native), and listen back to it as you play. There's a delay between when you pluck a note and when you hear it through your speakers. If you use one of the four paths in the preset I sent for guitar, then use a hardware IN/OUT on the C8Pre mixer to send that path directly to your speakers (as well as using the Helix SEND to send it to Ableton), and turn OFF the track monitor button on that Ableton track, then you'll be monitoring your guitar in REAL time, while you can still play along to the pre-recorded (or live MIDI) tracks from Ableton by leaving the track monitor buttons for those tracks ON. The latency compensation feature in Ableton takes care of any differences that arise in that scenario (RTM!) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Your Clarett 8Pre is virtually identical to my Scarlett 18i20, just Thunderbolt to a MAC vs USB to a PC. So, you're putting your guitar and other instruments into your C8Pre, using it as your Soundcard/interface to the MAC, with Ableton Live as your DAW. I'm going to explain this the way I would do it. I don't have a MAC, so I don't know from aggregate (what I called composite) devices. You might be able to get additional inputs that way by using the USB Outs from the Helix to free up inputs on the C8Pre but, again, you're on Thunderbolt/MAC and I'm not sure how all that would work. Take the sends from the Helix into four of the C8Pre's inputs. The DAW screenshot I sent you was Reaper, but here's what Ableton might look like - I have the Lite version, so I'm limited to 8in/8out: That'll leave you 4 Inputs on the C8Pre for other analog instruments. Assuming you have a full featured version of Ableton, you can also add MIDI instruments. Don't know how you're triggering clips, I use an AKAI APCmini - about $100, is recognized automatically in Ableton, and has sliders to control the Ableton Channel sliders. Cool little unit to get your feet wet with that kind of HW/Interface. Obviously, the Ableton Outputs can be set to send to whatever outs on your C8Pre that you want to use. I usually use Reaper because it's easier (for me) to use for basic recording purposes, and with the Lite version of Ableton I'm limited in the # of tracks/sends/busses I can use. However, Ableton is MADE for EDM, and Reaper just doesn't handle clips the way Ableton does. Horses for courses. I sleep now.

Don't read more into it than there is. There's a difference between emphasis on a point that most newbies ignore to their own detriment and the rest of that nonsense you're accusing me of. You're being over-sensitive and attacking someone who's trying to help you! The search tool is over on Ideascale. Phone apps/browsers are often less than fully realized tools: We're a VERY helpful, and usually pretty civilized community. Part of the problem with online forums is that INTENT (emphasis there) sometimes doesn't translate well. :-) Also , the emoticon function doesn't work!

You seem like such a reasonable and level headed person. Are you SURE you're on the right forum? ;-)

I LIKE being a "Protector of the Realm". When I was a kid I LOVED Crusader Rabbit! I know, not PC these days. I DON'T CARE! I reserve the right to be the "Loyal Opposition" when called for, but you're so much better at it than me! :-)
