    Import hlx file

You're using the Import button for SETLISTS. You need to use the Import button on the PRESETS line.
  2. If you go to the forums home page and search for "Nixie" you'll find an existing discussion.

    Volume drops out

Mine was still under warranty. Open a support ticket, they'll take care of you!

    Volume drops out

Last time I had this issue was back in April of 2018. I was also having problems with random noise. I sent it in for service, and they replaced "some of the boards". I haven't had any problems since. Maybe time to open a service ticket?
  5. This will eventually get fixed, but it won't happen overnight. Look for a fix in a future (hopefully the next) regular update.
  6. Wrong forum. This is where you go if you're serious about suggestions for changes and improvements: https://line6.ideascale.com/a/index Before posting a new idea, please search to see if it's already been proposed. If 100 people vote on the same idea presented 20 different ways, it looks like only 5 people care about it!
  7. I meant the USB cable. They do go bad, and I've heard others say (not often) that the one that came with the Helix was bad out of the box.
  8. I use a Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 as mixer and audio/MIDI interface. Keyboard/synth, eDrums, Bass pre and Helix all go into the 18i20, which connects to my laptop via USB, into whatever DAW works best for whatever I'm doing. That allows me to play the synth via analog and/or MIDI, use softsynths (VST plugins) and effects, and by splitting the guitar signal before the Helix and taking both clean and effected tracks, I can re-amp at will. The many outputs from the 18i20 allow me to set up multiple monitor mixes so as to be able to rehearse a whole band (sans vocals) silently in my apartment. That may sound complicated, but you're already doing some of it with your Mackie mixer which, unless I'm mistaken, only sends, via USB, 2 channels of audio and no MIDI?
  9. I still can't get OP's problem to replicate. However, your problem replicates every time. BUT, if I assign the 4 notes to 4 buttons, no problem. It seems the problem only occurs (in this particular test scenario) if I assign multiple notes to the same button, changing the note value in different snapshots. Just for kicks I played around with CC#s. Apparently, you can only assign 1 CC# to a particular button. You can change the VALUE with snapshots, but you can't change the CC#. So there's definitely a problem (or several) with the way that snapshots are working.

  11. Neither I, nor anyone else, can troubleshoot a problem if we can't duplicate it. One thing I thought odd was that when I DL'd OP's preset, HX Edit renamed it. I thought possibly wrong FW version or corrupt preset, but OP says he's on 2.71 (like me) and that he tried rebuilding the preset from scratch with the same results. If L6 resolves the issue for you, PLEASE report back here! I'd love to know what the problem was! Thanks!
  12. I ran this thru every change I could make with two feet while trying to watch MIDIOX and Command Center at the same time, including switching snapshots while operating the expression pedal (as you described). The only time that the note value changed was when my big clumsy feet hit the value knob accidentally. I switched presets and when I came back all was as it should be. IOW, no matter what I do I can't duplicate your problem. Either: Your Helix is defective (open a support ticket) OR What version are you on? I'm on 2.71, and I vaguely recall this (or a similar) problem having been solved in a recent update. What version are you on?
  13. Yes. Just be sure not to assign the Bypass blocks to reserved CC#s, per the chart on page 43-44 in the manual.
  14. Go with option 3. For $1500 for the pair, they'd better not sound like crap. My Rokit 6 ($400 for the pair, with stands and cables at Amazon, free shipping with PRIME) speakers sound fine. If you want the OPTION to play out, a pair of Yamaha dxr12 speakers with poles and cables will run you $1400 and blow the doors off most venues you're likely to play.
  15. No problems with multiple Win10 machines and, surprisingly, the latest update (1809...latest 12/18) actually seems to have FIXED the problem of having to open/close HX Edit multiple times. Who woulda' thought that a Microsoft update would actually FIX something (without breaking something else.....so far so good....)?
  16. Sometimes I have to open and close HX Edit a couple of times before it "sees" the Helix. If you play audio from the computer, does the sound come through the Helix? Are you connected directly to the computer's USB (correct way), or to a hub (BAD)? Could also be a bad cable.
  17. Not all the snapshots were saved with the proper NOTES. Go into them one by one, change them and SAVE before moving on to the next. Attaching my fix. Don't know why HX Edit changed the name. Weird!
  18. Attach a copy of the preset and I'll try it out.
  19. On the Helix assuming that the Rack interface is like the floor: Use the preset knob to select the Setlist, Preset and snapshot that you want to call Over the second knob you'll see the exact midi messages you need to send Setlist 2, preset 003 (1D), snapshot 4 = CC#32 value 001; PC#003; CC#69 value 003 You'd send the CC#s using regular (NOT TOGGLING) CCs. You use the 5 pin midi cable from the MM16 OUT to HX Rack IN Connect the USB to your computer to use the editor SW.
  20. I have a pair of studio monitors (Rokit6) that sound great at apartment level (and stereo is fun!). I also have a Headrush FRFR112 (replaced Alto TS210, which sounded good for guitar, but didn't quite get it for bass) for dialing in live tones (when the neighbors are out). As cruisinon2 said, you do not need a whole PA, but a powerful enough PA type speaker to use live when you don't have FOH, that's close enough to FOH type sound that you won't have to tweak like crazy in either situation, will make life much easier. Keep in mind that what sounds good through an FRFR speaker will likely NOT sound good through a guitar amp and speaker. Different animals. As for the scribble strips, the types of effects are color coded on the button LEDs so, while it won't tell you exactly which effect you're using, you'll at least know what type of effects are in the chain. However, if you get into more complex usage of the buttons, for instance, toggling multiple effects or settings, the scribble strips allow you to custom label the buttons. If the difference between the price of the LT vs the full floor model is a critical factor, you don't lose a lot with the LT. But if you can afford it, get the full floor. No regrets later!
