  1. This is news to me. I've been using this delay a lot lately and haven't noticed any clipping. Does it happen on any settings, or more likely on some specific settings? It's possible to get an increase in level, which could cause clipping, if the mix is quite high. I'll certainly be keeping an ear out now that I've read this. And yes, the forum search results suck big time.
  2. Here's a post that has some Van Halen settings: http://line6.com/support/topic/21167-early-van-halen-phaser-settings-problems/?p=160248
  3. Haha. I did something similar in a short section of one of my songs (Strings Of Dimensionality, starting around 5:45), but with the harmony delay. Snapshots certainly add a nearly unlimited flexibility to an already incredibly flexible device.
  4. Good idea. Would be useful for reamping as well. Don't forget to vote for it yourself!
  5. I turn pad on, for reasons that Glenn articulated rather well in his above post. Also, my guitar uses passive humbuckers, dimarzio evolutions, and are maybe a bit hotter than other pickups. Depending on how close they are to the strings, I can pretty easily get the input signal (usb7) to clip when using a DAW as the meter.
  6. You could have multiple takes in a DAW, each take representing one cab/mic combo. Later on, when your ears may not be so fatigued, just fire up the DAW and continuously toggle between all the takes to help you decide which you like best. When doing it this way, it really illustrates in a dramatic fashion just how different a tone can be simply by switching the cab and mic.
  7. This certainly won't ever happen, but your idea gave me the idea of a skinnable interface, and with the ability to move the component parts of the UI around however you want.
  8. Alright, well, that does it. I'm throwing away my Helix and HD500X, throwing away my electric guitars, dragging out my pos ancient acoustic, and cutting off all but one string. Screw it.
  9. Could be USB or driver related, but in the past, before the editor was released, I have experienced these lockups then as well. For the BPM, a nice shortcut is touching the tap button. Otherwise it's in the global menu->MIDI/Tempo. There's also the option there to set the tempo select (per snapshot, per preset, or global).
  10. You could also use pedal edit mode to control all this stuff.
  11. Once a block or parameter is assigned to a switch, you can't assign that same block or parameter to another switch. So it sounds like the easiest way to accomplish this would be snapshots. It's exactly what they are for. Easy to set up too. Just push/hold and immediately turn the encoder below the screen that corresponds to the gain parameter for the Teemah. The gain is now controlled by snapshots. If you're on snapshot one, set the gain to 2. Hit the switch for snapshot two and change the gain to 5. Hit the snapshot three switch and change the gain to 8. That's it.
  12. Why not just use one footswitch so that when off (not lit) the gain is 5, and when on (lit) the gain is 8? You could also assign another footswitch to toggle the Teemah block on and off.
  13. Probably one more HX reverbs, an autovolume (I wish), and some filters/synths. Maybe some more tweakability for snapshots.
  14. Uh oh. Hmm. Works OK here. In the downloaded patch, the range is from 0 to 10. Changed the range from 0 to 8 and saved. Changed to a different preset and back. Tried with the onboard pedal and an external Mission pedal, and tried all the global EXP2 settings.
  15. Yea. That's exactly the kind of freeze I've experienced as well, Helix itself, not the computer editor. Never actually had the computer software freeze on me, although dragging blocks around sometimes seems to cause momentary freezes.
  16. It's happened to me several times with 2.01, and only while editing with the computer editor. Don't know what causes it, but a power cycle fixes it. The Line 6 people probably know it happens, and it's been around for quite a few firmware versions. It's also one of those things that I imagine has gotta be hard to pinpoint and reproduce. Hopefully they'll have it eradicated one of these days.
  17. Yes. It's a problem when every time you want to play guitar it's essentially a visit to a well equipped music store.
  18. After trying this again, I was able to get the Doom amp to produce this unwanted vibrato effect, but not consistently. Sometimes it was there for a chord or note, and sometimes not for the same chord or note. The other amps I couldn't get to do it. Weird.
  19. Tried all kinds of values above 6.0, including 10, for all the amps. Didn't hear anything out of the ordinary. Looks like maybe a reset is in order, if you didn't try that already?
  20. Is it a really subtle effect? Because I can't hear anything wrong. Tried all amps listed here with both amp+cab block and just an amp block (with an IR).
  21. Yea, I saw the clip of Glenn demoing that preset. Sounded exactly what I remember that sound to be.
  22. Used to have a Sustainor and Stereo Chorus/Delay. Got rid of them, which I sometimes still regret, soon after getting an HD500. I wonder what Mr. Scholz would think of something like Helix? All those blinking lights in the background reduced to something so small.
  23. Mentioned it because I get dropouts from the spdif output on a floor unit, but they are almost always only a fraction of a second in duration, and rarely a dropout occurs with infinite duration, or until I unplug and replug the spdif cable on the back of Helix. Others have complained about this with the spdif output. But since you're using the XLR and 1/4", it's probably something completely unrelated. I'd probably start with a factory reset, as rvroberts suggests, after backing up any presets/setlists. Not sure what switch/encoder combo is for that on a rack unit, but it is different than the floor unit.
  24. Pretty sure it's normal. Mine does the same thing. Wish it didn't, but oh well. And there's no way to do a manual calibration that I know about. An external pedal does not do the same thing, at least a Mission EP1-L6.
