The crybaby wah has a 100K pot in it? You could try putting a 10K resistor, or maybe a 20K pot, parallel to the existing pot, which should give around 9K, or 16.6K max if you use a 20K pot. Helix should be able to cope with that I would think. You should only use two terminals from the existing pot, the wiper (probably the middle terminal), and one other (not sure which one, measure with a meter while operating the pedal so that you get zero ohms in the heel position). The 10K resistor or 20K pot should go across these two terminals. Then solder two wires from the two terminals to the jack, tip and sleeve. Order shouldn't matter here as Helix now has a software polarity reversal. Use a mono cable.

Someone else was also having this problem: http://line6.com/support/topic/21055-helix-too-many-paths-clearing-them/ Must be some sort of rare bug. Or easter egg?

I find Vai's stuff, in particular The Story Of Light album, the exact opposite of predictable and boring. A little strange sometimes... A lot of his stuff is difficult if not impossible to take in from a single listening. I wouldn't go so far as to say anyone can play his stuff. Maybe some of his better known licks, sure. I don't know, as I don't know how to play any of his stuff. I have noticed that as he has gotten older, the number of videos of him containing sloppy playing increases. Lol.

Good catch. Didn't even notice the taped over logo. Interesting. Time certainly is cruel, but in the case of Vai, he seems to age well. He actually appears more like the Karate Kid now than the Karate Kid did in the Crossroads clip, minus the glasses.

Have you looked at the advanced display options in the OS? I don't know if these options are present on the mobile version of Windows 10, but when running on a stationary computer, you can go to settings -> system -> display, and then advanced display settings. From there you can change fonts sizes for specific parts of the user interface, or you can change the scaling for the entire user interface, which could make things bigger. Might be worth a look.

Is it possible to be all of these on different days of the week? Or even within hours of each other? Aren't we all all of these things at one point, even if sometimes it's only in a delusional state?

There are low and high cut filters on them.

I end up using the plate as well. Really nice, clear, and balanced sounding. It's enough to add that extra little, or more than a little, dimension to the tone. What's odd for me is I never used this reverb on the HD. I always thought it sounded muddied somehow, and too harsh. I usually went the the hall or chamber on the HD. It's odd because the reverbs in Helix are supposedly the same ones from the HD, only redone with HX modeling.

In addition to using setlists and individual presets as a backup scheme, rather than bundles, it's probably also a good idea to label these backups with the firmware version they belong to.

I think you already answered your question. Sonically, there is going to be very little, if any, difference, as you've already discovered. The advantage of using a 1024 sample IR is less DSP use. I don't think there is any discernible advantage to using a 2048 sample IR, but if DSP isn't a problem, then I would use the 2048 block just because it's there.

The OP seems to have some unrealistic expectations. Coming from an HD, overall I'm very satisfied with Helix. Put some more filters in there, and an auto-volume (or better, an effect modifier that works on all effects), and I have something that's standalone and usable for a decade or more to come.

The Orange PPC 4x12 is nice. It has a unique woody quality to it that I don't hear on any of the other 4x12s. But honestly, I don't really hear anything too much from most of the 3sigma IRs, or other IRs, that the built-in cabs can't reproduce. Some IRs might be a little fuller and smoother than Helix's cabs, but nothing that says night and day.

I would be careful about the stuff they have listed on their site. For my z97 board, if I use the listed asmedia usb drivers in windows 7, it will cause a blue screen, with the only recovery options being last known good or restoring an imaged backup. It might be better to find out the actual hardware id of the device in question and search for drivers directly from whomever makes the device if you don't want to use the built-in os drivers.

Good choice of components. I use Asus as well and have for a long time. But you better hope it works and keeps working, because there's enough horror stories about their support system that can make one dubious about Asus. One other idea is to run the processor/memory at its default speed, unless you've previously, and successfully, run a bunch of stress tests on all subsystems at the overclocked speed. Or try mucking about with some of the power/power-saving/speed-step/cpu options in the bios. Sometimes those things can be problematic, but that's a long shot and doubtful. And you know, as long as Sweetwater is shipping you a new Helix Rack, which is mighty nice of them (did you have to pay shipping?), it might actually be better if it's a hardware problem with your Helix Rack. It would be a much easier solution to the problem, rather than searching among dozens of possibilities with a computer system.

The closest you will ever get to Helix on an HD is the model packs, which were made using the HX modeling process and then ported to the HD.

Windows 10 provides built-in drivers for USB, in particular USB3, which Windows 7 does not have. So I suppose it's possible that upgrading the OS could change things. I recently upgraded (clean install) to 10 and haven't really come across any problems, but I never had problems with 7 either. It could also be that Helix Rack is stressing the USB in your system to a point that the Eleven Rack can't, exposing a weakness with the USB in your computer, but that doesn't mean it can't be a defective Helix Rack either. One thing you might try is Reaper (do a portable install). There's a lot of caching, performance, and memory options you can change in there. Maybe you can change stuff like that in FL Studio too? Good luck. Hope you get it sorted.

Most chords sound pretty good, the simpler the better sounding. Much better than pre-2.0. It's not perfect and any warbling is most noticeable as the chord decays. Also, if you're going to drop-tune a cleaner tone, it doesn't sound as good as a higher gain and compressed tone.

Absolutely, because if it's unusable, it's unacceptable.

I tried this both with the simple pitch and pitch wham, first in the chain. Simple pitch, everything default except mix, 100%, any interval sounded fine. Pitch wham, pedal pos 0%, toe 0, mix 100%, any heel value sounded fine. When I tried this I used closed-back headphones, which helps isolate the strings' acoustic sound as shanecgriffo suggests, but not completely, which does mess with the senses a bit.
-
What is it that makes this unusable now? I just tried, and while there is an occasional warble, I'm finding the tracking significantly better than pre-2.0. Nothing that would make me say using a pitch block for half-step, whole-step, or even more for drop tuning is unusable. Not saying there's not a problem, just that I'm not hearing anything.

Wow. That's quite the number of settings with an attached name. Looks like a good reason to have per-block profiles on Helix.

This thing, the industrial fuzz, sounds like an ill something or other. It seems the key to the one in Helix is having the compression around 4.8 or less and of course the oscillator has to be turned on. The pitch of the sickness can be controlled by the drive and stability, and also less so, or more of a fine tune, by the compess and gate params. So to make an octave down sort of thing, I guess it would also depend on what's being played.

2204 Amp Model Demo - Metal! - 2.0 Firmware Update
duncann replied to ChristianArnold's topic in Helix
Nice tone, playing, and writing. You may have forced me to look at that amp for a future song. I particularly like your choice of guitars! Ibanez! I was pondering the idea of picking up an RG652K. How do you like your prestige?
