  1. I miss all the recording options as well. I also miss the ability to assign the Master volume to either the XLR outputs or the 1/4 " ouputs or both. A very handy feature if you want to keep the level to your amp the same while being able to adjust the XLR outputs for the sound guy.
  2. I will admit to being very disappointed as well. If it provided no DSP limits, even if it cost more, I would have gotten it. But whadaya gonna do.
  3. "Depends on the Dual Amps or just using a single amp. If you only use a single amp, you can push the FXs really far with the HD500X, at least until you run out of FX blocks." That's what I mean. Dual amp or single amp, at the point that I run out of DSP on the 500,I can add 1-3 more effects depending on their DSP usage. And based on what your video showed, I'd split the difference and say around 2. That's not enough extra DSP to bail on something I bought about a year ago and don't really have the extra money laying around to chase technology (partly why I waited so long to buy the HD500). I'll wait until the next DSP increase or whatever Line 6 has coming.
  4. So, based on your video and to put it very generally, it looks like the 500X allows you to add 1-3 more effects than the 500 does. I guess I'm not replacing my 500 just yet
  5. That's progress. I am disaapointed it's not a no DSP limit upgrade but I think it's good of Line 6 to have upgraded the product when they could while keeping the price the same. What were they supposed to do? Just not do it? Keep selling the HD500 as is, even though they had something that would improve it for the same price? To me, that would be ridiculous. At the very least I'm going to guess it didn't increase Line 6's profit margin on the HD500. I think they did it soley to improve their product and nothing more. How can you fault them for that. Sure the advertising guys will hype it a bit but that's what they do. It's why I waited until I knew exactly what was being offered. What's being offered currently, is not enough for me to sell my HD500 (got it about a year ago) but I don't hold any grudge toward Line 6. I'm waiting for the HD (and am wiling to pay more for it) that won't ever give me any DSP limit. 20% more isn't enough.
  6. I have a Vetta (I upgraded to II) head going to a Marshall 1960a 4X12 cab - Celestion G12T-75 speakers. I also have a JC120 and ran my HD500 (studio output) through the power amp section of it and compared both setups in the same room at the same time using two Variax's. I found that I (and the two people I was with) were very surprised at how close the two sounded to each other. We were only comparing amps with no effects. And in regard to the twin we thought the HD500 was superior. I would say, given johnnyayy's post and what me and my guitar playin' friends experienced, you can't go wrong with the HD.
  7. The main question I have is can I fill all the available FX spaces/slots with anything I want and not run out of DSP with the most DSP demanding amps in dual amps? Is there still a limit of some kind?
  8. Are you still using/keeping the HD and if not are you still going to post over here?
  9. "I usually just go to guitarbackingtracks.com and use the free ones there. Good to know though!" I definitely use them regularly but they don't always have what I want. A good quality Camera Eye was one of them which is what led me to Jammit in the first place
  10. Ah, the Iphone,Ipad app. Doesn't do me any good. Hope that changes soon to include other platforms.
  11. I just discovered a backing track website that uses the songs masters. It's Called Jammit. Ya do have ta pay. Tab and the ability to isolate guitar tracks so you can hear exactly what was played. Check it out. One interesting thing is many of the songs have a Line 6 logo next to them! I don't yet know what this means.
  12. The American Classic mic preamp is an excellent. I use it with my Variax and it makes all the difference. So I'm surprised it doesn't work well for you. There is a tiny knob called "Trim" which adjusts the mic's level. Have you adjusted that? And just some quick very basic mic technique...point mic at bridge for a more bassy sound, point it at about where the neck and body joint are for a more trebley sound (is that like dubly?) Pointing a mic right at the soundhole is generally not a good thing.
  13. Regarding the power supply, other than the 9 volt 3amp DC output and plug polarity, is there any other parameter I need to look out for. And does anyone know what the plugs dimensions are? I found this for half of what a Line 6 power supplys costs. http://www.amazon.com/Power-Adapter-2-1mm-Regulated-Supply/dp/B006QZ7RG8
  14. It sounds like a level problem. You need to make sure the input and output match i.e. both line level or mic level. This is a huge guess but it soundslike it might be the Pod output is set to line level and the deck is set to mic level. Very hard to tell from this vantage point :D
  15. I love my Bass XT and especially how it sounds direct for recording. I never understood why it didn't sell. And I really like my Variax bass as well. I could only attribute the lack of sales to a finicky bass population. And I don't mean that in a bad way. It must take a bit of experimentation (and some $$$) to get a good bass tone, especially one that can be heard (a point you brought up) and after all that work, spend your hard earned money on a Bass Box that I've heard little to nothing about? I completely understand why that could happen. I've never had a music store salesman direct me to Line 6 let alone to anything "bass" Line 6. Currently there are only two things bass specific at line 6 right now anyway. An amp and a cab. Both of which I've never seen at a music store. So it's not that you're not being shown anything Line 6 has made for bass. It's that there's nothing for them to show. Now anyway. I only found out about the amp and cab when I just now went to the Line 6 website to see if there WAS anything bass related anymore from Line 6. Until then I had NEVER heard about the Line 6 bass amp and cab from anywhere. This includes anything from Line 6. And I've been a Line 6 boy for awhile. The amp is even listed as unavailable at Musicians Friend and Sweetwater. So essentially there's nothing bass wise to show you from Line 6. I think, for awhile anyway, "bass" will be something added onto guitar based products but won't have anything specific.
  16. The "bottom" refers to the power amp being a Rivera Los Lobottom and not the actual sound. It's a good sounding amp.
  17. The X3 has every XT model, bass guitar & FX, ever made (this includes the model packs) AND two paths. In many regards, aside form the HD's superior modeling, the X3 exceeds the HD. Particularly in the area of recording. I hope that is something they plan on eventually changing.
  18. Line 6 has kind of bailed on the Bass player due to lack of sales. I think Bass players are a lot more finicky than guitar players and to think a BOX (the pod) would produce a suitable bass tone would be ridiculous to many and didn't sell well. There was also the Bass Variax which sold even less. Because of that Line 6 offered (in order to unload inventory) a Variax bass AND a Bass XT pod for $800. Where the Bass was normally about $1,200 and the Bass XT pod $500. I took them up on that offer and the offer told me that they were unloading everything bass focused. What they did do is put ALL the XT bass models into the X3 and provided a Bass pack for the XT. That way they provide for the few bass players that were interested without wasting inventory on a separate product. I said they've kind of bailed on the Bass player because I believe that's what's going to happen with the HD. But I guess the guitar player comes first.
  19. The KB37 is merely a controller. It does not in and of itself, create sound. The sound comes from whatever program you're using on your computer. the KB37 just plays (controls) the sound the program makes. So you need to create the sound on your computer and not from the KB37. It can't. Does this make sense? You can also hook it up to sound modules and control them but I believe you're talking about having it hooked up to your computer.
  20. A favorite amp for many people has been the Line 6 Big Bottom. It is a Triple Rect Preamp wired to a Rivera Los Lobottom power amp. There are other Line 6 amps like this. Insane is a Soldano preamp wired to a Dual Rectifier power amp. This document shows (when the manual divulged the info) what preamp/power amp combinations the Line 6 amps are. http://www.vettaville.net/Vetta%20II%20Amps%20&%20Mics%202004.pdf
  21. Glad it helped. Hope it will come in useful to others.
  22. I would say the simplest way would be to have no stereo FX after the amp. If you like the way a ping pong delay sounds stereo, put a mono FX after it. Here's a comprehensive list of what the FX do stereo mono wise http://line6.com/support/docs/DOC-2771
  23. Just a quick, "off the top of my head solution" would be to put a Vol/Pan pedal right before the dual path (set for pan of course). So now you can use the expression pedal to go between each amp and slowly mix them if you want. You can also put the pedal directly after the dual path which will create a different kind of sound when going between the amps. Often the difference is subtle but try them both and see what you like best. I'm sure there is a way to do this with the footswitches but I'm not at my Pod so I can't experiment. I personally prefer the pan pedal method anyway so I've never tried to do this with the footswitches.
  24. I haven't done this myself (yet). Set up two amps in the dual path area and put a Volume/Pan pedal (set for Pan obviously) either directly before or directly after the dual path. That should do it. And they will mix with each other during the change.
  25. Here's one persons's take on the Stagescape with an HD500 http://line6.com/support/thread/86142
