  1. The answer to your problem is you'll never be satisfied. You'll always find something missing and never have the skills to find it. You'll always want someone else to do it for you. It's in your nature. Now go back to your mother's basement and finish your half empty glass of bitters. 😀
  2. I will assume it's partly why you did and partly why you watched Monty Python. Or perhaps it's because we're an anarcho-syndicalist commune We take it in turns to act as a sort of executive officer for the week. But all the decisions of that officer have to be ratified at a special biweekly meeting by a simple majority, in the case of purely internal affairs, but by a two-thirds majority in the case of more......
  3. I like this idea but I think you would need to create one for each amp, somebody won't like it and I think that's essentially what you can use IR's for that. I would say they essentially do what you're talking about.
  4. I believe the idea is this. With previous Line 6 amp sims, up to the HD500, you essentially heard a mic'd amp in a studio that had been tweaked by a professional engineer (although the fizz complaint has always been around). Now the decision was made to give you the raw sound that you can shape yourself. Just an amp and a mic. Everything else is up to you. One comparison would be the difference between painting the Mona Lisa with a paint by numbers set and doing one on your own using the same paints and type of canvas. You will get consistent results with the paint by numbers and the potential for lousy is greatly increased by painting on your own but when done well, the paint by numbers picture will be much less interesting than the one you did yourself. It's kind of an extreme example but it does illustrate what I'm saying.
  5. Well that's a Marshall JCM 800 behind her. It's called the Brit 2204 in the Helix. The guitar looks like this Fender Classic series '72 telecaster custom electric. http://www.samash.com/fender-classic-series-72-telecaster-custom-electric-guitar-maple-fingerboard-3-tone-sunburst-f7502300?cm_mmc=GoogleShopping-_-Guitars-_-Channeladvisor-_-Fender+Classic+Series+%2772+Telecaster+Custom+Electric+Guitar++3-Color+Sunburst,+Maple+Fingerboard&utm_source=GSH&utm_medium=CSE&utm_campaign=Channeladvisor&CAWELAID=1594701992&CAGPSPN=pla&CAAGID=28120526597&CATCI=pla-288977263594&catargetid=500002510000071249&cadevice=c&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI5uP5oPvF1gIVFrbACh10yg1_EAQYASABEgL7nvD_BwE I guess you could start there. Not that what you see in a video is what was used in the studio but, again, it's a start.
  6. I never saw that before. That's funny. I like it.
  7. This is big. You're not simulating an amp in a room next to you. You're simulating sitting in a control room, listening to a miced amp in a studio.
  8. Just don't ask about the tuner....(DOH!) :P :D
  9. Ya know, I seem to remember some offers on E-Bay like that when the POD X3 was around. That was pretty low in my opinion as well.
  10. It sounds like you might be referring to me. If you are I want to make it clear no one offered what I did for money. I'll go back and fix my post so it doesn't seem like that.
  11. It's a tough call, I think. On the one hand, it does seem ridiculous to pay for something I could do myself. On the other hand, I have created a bunch of very simple patches with every amp hooked up with a Variax Les Paul and a Variax Strat. Just the amp, the guitar and I think I just threw in a reverb at the end. Just for a place to quickly go through amps. I then set 4 snapshots to run through the gamut of drive settings. Clean, a little dirty, crunchy an full on. And I didn't get too particular about what the settings were. Around 1-2, 4-5, 7-8 and 10. I changed nothing else. Just that little exercise took several hours over several days. I offered it to everybody but I did think it was a lot of work/time to offer for free. So I also get not wanting to just give away something that can take a significant amount of time. In the end, I suppose it's between the buyer and seller and none of my business. If you have a patch to sell and can find a buyer, who am I to judge?
  12. In workbench, there is an option for the 89's pickups modeled and a neutral body option. Have you tried those and compared it to the 89's real pickups? I've known about this but haven't ever actually compared the two. Wondering what you think about those.
  13. It is EXACTLY like Godzilla vs King Kong (or actually King Kong vs Godzilla). In their monumental battle they both fall down a mountain, entagled in combat and fall into the sea. After a moment or two, the winner comes popping up out of the sea. Who pops up? Who was the winner? Well, it depends on where you saw it. In the US, King Kong won. In Japan, Godzilla pops up (wins). So, as in this little modeler battle, who won depends on your perspective. Ultimately, they both won!! ;) And yes, I know...I pass the geek test. (sigh)
  14. Because the smoking hot one is totally batsh*t crazy otherwise and makes the rest of your life a living hell. ;)

    Multiple guitars

I don't have this issue personally. And it seems like since this is an amp sim, you would approach it the same way you would if you had one amp and two guitars. i.e. I'm assuming you'd be moving the knobs when you switched guitars. So if that's the case, I would use snapshots and name the snapshot the guitar you use. So you could use the same setup up and with the press of a button, have the parameters change for each guitar. And if you make any changes in a snapshot and saved it, you would only save those settings that that one guitar likes. The one pain in the *** (and it's a big one) is you have to take the time to assign EVERY parameter to snapshots. That often takes alot of time. I wish Line 6 would allow group assignments. So if you have a 10 band EQ, you could click one button and every parameter in that effect would be assigned to whatever you have selected, in this case, snapshots. Does that make sense? I'm sorry I'm tired.
  16. I couldn't help but notice you used a 1/4" cable and not the VDI to plug into the Helix. it there any reason for that?
  17. I feel your pain. Did you ever try putting a volume pedal in and seeing if it would glitch on that?
  18. This may be a stupid question but does the patch have a Variax in it as downloaded? Not all customtone patches have a Variax in them.
  19. Is the tuner set at 440 Hz?
  20. I find the acoustic's to sound thin and "zingy" (whatever that means). The previous version of Variax's acoustics sounded fatter to me. Just IMHO.
  21. I would agree. I meant to point out that it really only represents one aspect of a more complex process (can you say reactance). It was only a quick and easy way to explaing why the impedance mismatching works the opposite of the way it seems like it should. Having said that, I have often mismatched a lower ohm guitar amp to a higher ohm cab and have never had any issues other than a loss of power. But, having said THAT, matching impedances is the way to go and running mismatched impedances is something you do when you have no choice and will correct soon.
  22. Yeah, that's what I thought. Then I burned up an amp. The water/pipe analogy is the best for this. You have a pump pumping water into a pipe. This pump regulates however many RPMs it needs to keep the pipe flowing at it's capacity (the pipe's capacity) by itself. The less water a pipe allows to flow, the less RPMs the pump has to do to keep it flowing as efficiently as that pipe allows.. If the pipe is small (i.e. more resistance) the pump doesn't have to work at as high an RPM to pump the water into that pipe since the pipe doesn't allow as much water. An amp is the same, the higher resistance doesn't allow as much power to go to the speaker so you get less volume. The amp then doen't work as hard because it's not being allowed to create as much power. As the pipe gets bigger (i.e. less resistance) it has to pump at higher RPMs to keep the water flowing at the most efficient flow rate. The pipe could get so big that the pump would burn itself out trying to keep the pipe flowing. This is an illustration of what your amp tries to do. I hope this makes sense. It took me awhile to "get it" even with this analogy.
  23. You don't have to spend that much. Those units are expensive!! https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/M8Lx I use this as well. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/PRO200
  24. This is HUGE. I learned this one the hard way. Only popped a fuse but it could have been worse.
