  1. I'm excited. Thank you for the glimpse into the future! Very much looking forward to it.
  2. I would take slight issue with your comparison as I am not trying to control or regulate the tuning of the guitar but find out what the tuning is. That is more reflective of a speedometer or tachometer. I would also then contend that the less damping either of those have, the more accurately they would reflect the speed of the vehicle or RPM of the engine at that moment. This is assuming a digital readout. Thereby giving a more precise or accurate moment by moment reading. Having said that, I would say that having more dampening/averaging does make a tuner easier to read. It may be less accurate, but accuracy that precise isn't necessary, and does make it harder, when it comes to tuning, to read. However, the bottom line after this post is.....I don't really care that much. I now don't think any test I do with a tone generator will change anyone's mind. Just thought I was helping but as has been the case lately in my life, I am wrong again. So I think I will bail on this discussion (OH Crap! This wasn't supposed to be a discussion). I will leave this to those that care more than I do. Not to imply that caring about it is a character flaw. See ya in a different thread.
  3. But the only song I like on that thing is the one with the talk box. Can I just listen to that?
  4. Ah. You're killing me DI, you're killing me! :D But seriously, would rather have a working program than just shoveling it out to meet a deadline. Take all the time you guys need. (But hurry. ;))
  5. I would ignore the "fine" strip and just focus on the big indicator. I have a tone generator. Since we all know that a string's pitch, as a general rule, can, and often does, fluctuate slightly during the duration of the vibration (we all know this, right?) I'll bet it will be stable if I plug a tone generator in i.e. a non fluctuating stable tone. If this is true, it says to me that it's just very sensitive i.e. accurate. I'm guessing many tuners have some kind of damping which is why they are less twitchy but actually would also mean they are less accurate. I'll report my results when I get to it. I do think it would be possible to program it to have variable damping in it. But I would want them to spend their time on a lot of other things before implementing that. So I'll see about the tuners calculation of the fluctuation during the duration of the vibration. (Sorry I couldn't resist)
  6. Anyone gonna be here at 9:25pm? ;)
  7. There is on mine. It's a Danelectro Free Speech Talkbox. https://reverb.com/p/danelectro-free-speech-talk-box?gclid=CjwKEAjwvYPKBRCYr5GLgNCJ_jsSJABqwfw75SRAfyfx_4TmoVcwyaFO-WXE1YzLrDPF-74Uq3p_VhoCvHXw_wcB&hfid=5604118
  8. You do have to assign the Variax model parameter to Snapshots in order to do that. Have you done this?
  9. Yes it has. It seems the consensus here is, in order to get the full potential of this thing, you need to get FRFR speakers. Definitely do a search re this topic. If you use a guitar amp in some manner, start with only the preamp and no cab.
  10. The Aux is a 10kΩ input for an active-pickup equipped guitar or bass according to the manual.
  11. You guys are right. It's been a long month, sorry.
  12. So I tried adjusting the pickups on my JTV89F and there is definitely an effect when the pickups get closer. I have chosen to essentially lower each pickup as far as it will go. The pickups are fairly powerful so it doesn't appear to affect the volume. Couldn't tell you about any tone difference. This was a very quick test.
  13. Is that right? I thought it was a CAT 4.
  14. I feel that way about the volume pedal "effect" Even when it's set to Logrithmic, the first part of the taper seems to be awfully quick
  15. The aux input can be used for another instrument. So yes it can be done.
  16. Is your Helix firmware up to date? It should be version 2.21 Helix didn't connect to Work bench until version 2.0 I think.
  17. Yeah, get a new one. It goes in fairly easy. I've had several Varaix's, POD units and Variax cables and never had an issue like that.
  18. That is weird. Just confirming (although I'm very sure the answer will be yes) that you tried to connect it with the square hole in the metal housing on the cable directly below the "PUSH" metal tab on the Variax and Helix inputs. Just like an XLR cable.
  19. Thats what I was going to suggest. Hit the Mode footswitch again.
  20. Yeah, I was actually going to try that. When I do, I'll post what I find.
  21. Would it be nice to have some kind of note pad some where on the edit programs screen so you could make notes pertaining to stuff like this?
  22. Yes. That's exactly how I approach it when using a regular guitar amp. Again it doesn't always work but when it has, the sound has really popped in my experience.
  23. i think if you do use a regular guitar amp, I think you should start with a preamp only in the Helix. Once you get to as good as you think it will get, start adding cabs and seeing how they sound. They, more often than not, don't make it better but when they do, in my experience, it has made a big difference.
