  1. Not me. Is there a place nearby with another JTV that you could put the battery in or use it's battery to test the LED's?
  2. You can boost the models in the Variax by 6dB in Workbench if you want to. Globally or individually.
  3. Any folo up? Has his mind at least been opened up a bit?
  4. When you click and drag presets, other presets move so you don't lose any presets. When you copy and paste, you lose the preset you overwrote.
  5. Let's not forget Rush bass, player Geddy Lee went direct with a Sans Amp. That's why one tour he had dryers behind Jim and another he had chicken roasters behind him. He said he had to have something behind him.
  6. He doesn't not know what he is talking about. For one thing, modelers give you a more consistent out front sound since you are not relying on a sound gut using the same mic and placing it in the same position as the last sound guy didi. Which is what you are simulating anyway. You're not simulating an amp, you're simulating the microphone that is up next to the amp. Tell him to check this pic out. http://www.metalinjection.net/latest-news/drama/why-black-veil-brides-fake-amps-are-no-big-deal They may not be using an amp simulator but they're definitely not using these to monitor the sound. They are probably using wedges which would use...wait for it....the miked amp under the stage which is.... wait for it....what the Helix simulates but again, results in a more consistent sound. This would take a lot longer to get into than I have time for but his opinion is old and outdated and is just wrong. Just search these threads. There are lots of "used my Helix for the first time direct" posts that prove how wrong he is. But he also sounds like someone who isn't very open minded about this at all.
  7. It's been awhile but as I recall, the parameters are close...mostly, so that's a good place to start. But you will have to do some tweaking.
  8. I don't know if this will help but this is a thread I started regarding the XLR's output. http://line6.com/support/topic/25298-mic-level-xlr-output-is-high-q-for-di/?do=findComment&comment=194827 Based on some of my measurements, the XLR output when the Volume knob is turned all the way up and switched to line level is +4dB.
  9. That's right! You also need to install the most recent version of Helix edit.
  10. Did you do this after you updated the firmware? YOU MUST RESET GLOBALS AND RESTORE PRESETS, OTHERWISE HELIX 2.21 WILL NOT WORK PROPERLY. DO IT. DO IT NOW: 7. To reset globals and restore presets, turn off Helix/Helix Rack/Helix LT. HELIX FLOOR AND LT ONLY: While holding footswitches 9 and 10 (middle two switches on the bottom row), turn on Helix. Wait for the message “Will reset Globals and restore stock Presets, Setlists and IRs…†to appear and let go. HELIX RACK ONLY: While holding knobs 5 and 6 below the screen, turn on Helix Rack. Wait for the message “Will reset Globals and restore stock Presets, Setlists and IRs…†to appear and let go. 8. Using the NEW Helix editor application (2.20), restore the user presets you backed up in step 2. And remember, doing this will put the Helix back to factory specs, deleting all of your presets, global settings, snapshots, etc.
  11. Not sure if this will help but look at the last post of this thread. It appears that Macs have a MIDI issue with Snapshots http://line6.com/support/topic/25413-midi-control-of-snapshots-acting-strange/
  12. OK. Well your title and your first post gave the impression that you had never had a Helix and that this one little thing was going to keep you from purchasing it. So no one would have directed you to the ideascale. Didn't know you had a Helix. In fact, you WERE told about the ideascale before you let it be known you had a floor Helix. And my post had nothing to do with your idea being off base or not warranted. Again it had to do with it sounding like that was the only reason you wouldn't purchase one. Since I know there is no way it would be implemented soon, I fully expected you to depart. I was just giving you a cordial good-bye. Your characterization of the other responses seems to be way off base as well. The negative ones were addressing your attitude and NOT your idea. You actually got some support for your idea. It was your apparent attitude that people thought was off base and unwarranted. Not your idea.
  13. Pot.....meet kettle. And I'm not sure where you get the idea that I'm upset in anyway, let alone store..er I mean sore. Seriously. At worst I am amused.
  14. Lots of delay and reverb. Use the neck pickup. Cut your highs. Play in Dm. And play alone.
  15. You stated what I took to be a fact. You won't get a Helix without that. My comment was not to shoo you away. It was to say that since I'm quite sure that that won't happen anytime soon, and you won't get one without that feature, uou will be leaving this forum. Why would you stay on a forum whose subject you don't own? So since that feature won't be appearing, therefore you won't be getting a Helix, therefore you'll be leaving.......see ya. Unless you've got some kind of obsession with this forum.
  16. Not to be snotty but if that's your only reason...see ya.
  17. If you're still willing to try, get another one. Once ya get one that works, they are reliable.
  18. Read the previous post.
  19. That rubs me a bit. I even did the string input switch with the 2nd string to make sure it was the piezo and not the input. Oh well, it was only $20 and I have a perfectly running 89F now. I think I'll just keep my head down.
  20. I monitor this which will have the latest info. And if there is any "it's here" info on this forum, I'm quite sure it will have it's own thread. http://line6.com/support/forum/90-helix-native/
  21. The bottom line is make sure it works perfectly. I had to go through 3 89Fs before I got a good one. Sweetwater and Line 6 were very good about it in this regard. Interestingly enough, my guitar before my Variax stage was an SG and part of the reason for my love of the 89F is it's the same color as my SG.
  22. He had mentioned that a reason he wouldn't do the Variax was because he wanted to go wireless. I took that to mean he knew about the VDI. Yes you could have a wireless connected at the same time your Variax is via VDI.
  23. Here it is. ALL of your conclusions are wrong. https://www.kemper-amps.com/forum/index.php/Thread/22060-Line-6-Helix-next-gen-guitarist-s-wet-dream/ EDIT: Just noticed that was the OP's first post. Good-bye Pete.
  24. You can work around this by, for example, copying the model you want to compare it to the model next to it in Workbench. Just be careful and don't upload the copied one to the Variax. As a backup you could save all of the factory models. By the way, do you know you can change every model on the Variax, not just the Custom ones? Again, as long as you don't UPLOAD anything to the Variax and you should be good.
