  1. One more Variax advantage not yet mentioned. The ability to have both the magnetic pickups and modeled guitars playing together in one patch. Acoustic 12 string with mag pickups for example. Each with their own signal path.
  2. I was not one of the "you guys" that hollered at you. And I never said I was speaking for the majority or minority for that matter. I merely said you couldn't speculate about others motivation and used my own motivation as an example of another reason for not wanting to pay more than $100. Definitely NO hard feelings.
  3. Because I thought it was a wrong and unfair thing to say. And don't get me wrong. I generally agree with most of what you have posted in the past. I just disagree with this one point. You do tend to be a little blunt but that's part of your charm. ;) And I absolutely do agree with your desire for Line 6 to support Helix as long as possible. It still rubs me the wrong way the way Line 6 essentially abandoned the Variax bass. They never came up with Workbench compatibility which they said was coming. It was in my Variax bass manual and was the tipping point for me to buy it. With no explanation or warning that "we are done with the bass". It just happened.
  4. Isn't all of your commentary speculation as well? Yes there are software pirates but the amount of loss they will suffer is pure speculation. Nothing you speak of has occurred since there is no product to pirate yet. I received Pod Farm 2 as part of a UX2 and I don't need it as a dongle. I did need it to originally put it on my computer but I can use it with any sound card I want to now. I don't recall any big announcement of any large pirating issue with that. As far as anyone being a tightwad, that also is speculation. No one knows anyone else's circumstances and therefore has little to no evidence to judge another persons motivation for this. For me it has to do with what it is worth to me. It is worth $100 to me. If it costs more, I won't get it. I just know I won't use it that much. But $100? Oh alright, I'll get it. $200? Nope, not worth it. I'm not a tightwad (just ask my wife). It just isn't worth any more than that to me. You can disagree with people on the price point but you can't characterize anyone's reasons why without knowing them. That would be pure speculation. No more than name calling. You wouldn't pay that much? Then you must be a poopie head tightwad. Since I have determined how much it should be worth to you. Wait a minute. That last line would be speculation! DOH!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. I hate people like you. You're so much more ambitious than I am. Very impressive work! Love the headstock decals!
  6. Oooo. That I don't know. I would agree with your piezo assessment.
  7. I'm not sure if this is what you mean but you can change all of the models in Variax Workbench to your hearts content. They don't replace what's actually in the Variax until you send the changed patch to the Variax. So if you change all of the models in Variax Workbench and close the program before sending them to the Variax, your Variax will still have the old patches in it. I think this is what you are looking for.
  8. I have answered and solved my own question. I called Graphtech (the makers of the locking trem on the JTV89F) and asked them for a replacement piezo. The piezo only. Not the housing. After gulping and sweating for about 30 minutes my 1st string piezo was replaced and.....drum roll.....it fixed it. So the piezos themselves can have a fairly large discrepancy in ouptut. Just wish they'd check that at the factory before I ponied up $20 for a new piezo.
  9. I am a Helix owner. $99 for Native is $1 less than the most I would pay being a Helix owner. $200? I'll just plug my Helix into the computer.
  10. Is that a Bill Lawrence pickup or two I see in there? The middle pickup looks like one. I remember seeing a pickup like the bridge but I can't remember if that was a Bill Lawerence or not. Been a long time since I've even heard the name! Never tried them but they always got rave reviews.
  11. I have had the Helix plugged into phantom power and what it did there was the level was made lower. It's my understanding it won't hurt the Helix but it does compromise the XLR's level. So if your going direct and the sound guy says your output is too low, ask him if the phantom power is on. That's exactly what happened to me.
  12. I know two world class musicians. One plays keyboard and is one of the finest I've ever seen. There isn't much he can't do. He's played with many known names. His focus is on jazz trio type stuff but can do it all. The other guy plays guitar, graduated from Berkley, played with Tower of Power and a little in the studio with the Doobie Brothers. HE'S a guitar player. I can sound like I know what I'm doing but I don't know half of what he does. One works for a cable company and the other works for Kinko's.
  13. Maybe they're all on headsets with their amp simulators, electronic drums and keyboards.
  14. Perhaps something like this? https://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?A=details&O=&Q=&ap=y&c3api=1876%2C%7Bcreative%7D%2C%7Bkeyword%7D&gclid=Cj0KEQjw4cLKBRCZmNTvyovvj-4BEiQAl_sgQkj5uPLavlGhXNMlRVhoRxSxJapZFMcIIPeOzyBj9PwaAuP48P8HAQ&is=REG&m=Y&sku=622727
  15. It's no secret. At least not to me. Another part of this is all the baby boomers who picked up the guitar way back when and now entertain the idea of playing guitar for money in a band when they retire. Can you say guitar glut? Or, as was written in a Doonesbury cartoon 40 years ago. "Open up another can of guitar players please."
  16. If you mean a way to use it by itself with no DAW. You will need to find a VST plugin host program. Here are two... https://www.cantabilesoftware.com/ http://www.hermannseib.com/english/Savihost.htm I've seen good things about Savihost. I haven't tried either.
  17. Way too long ago I took a philosophy course and the main thing I learned is you can philosophise your way out of anything. I however opt to take full credit for my stupidity. How else ya gonna learn? Unfortunately for me, I was a poor student. I'm doing better now.😉
  18. I'm gonna say the post I quoted was predestined, but my post was on purpose ðŸ˜
  19. Based on the staggering amount of poor decisions I've made, freewill is not an illusion.
  20. Well I just looked at his I'll Cry For You video on Youtube. I believe I see two Dual Rect heads going into two Marshall 1960A cabs which are on each side of the drum riser. This makes me think those are his. Start there.
  21. I'm almost positive there is NO android capability at this time. In order for the Helix to work on any platform it's gonna need drivers. There are no Helix/Android drivers
  22. One thing Line 6 used to have in their amp sim units was a way to save amps/FX parameters so when you called the amps/FX up, they would start out with your own "custom" settings and not the factory settings which do appear to be all over the place. Seems like a simple thing to program and was very helpful.
  23. I do wish that if you put a patch back to the state it was originally saved in the E would go away.
  24. Don't be surprised if you are disappointed. I say this so you don't base your opinion on what you might find. Two people that charge for their tones that have always got rave reviews are Freman (see the Freman thread) and DeLaune. If you're in a hurry to get good patches and are willing to pay, that's where I'd go first. Otherwise just pull up an amp and try it. I was amazed at how much easier it is to get a good tone quickly. Quicker than any previous Line 6 product and I've had them all in one form or another.
