Ipad Mini
Digital-sound replied to malcevansmusic's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
Also, in that same "settings" app, you can scroll down on the left to see other apps you have installed, and the settings for each one. For example, you will see the "stagescape" app here you can adjust a few settings such as whether it "auto connects" or if you want your knobs to go up or down by sliding in straight lines, or using an "arc" swipe. -

Click on the settings. The "gear" looking icon on the main page. Then, there is a "General" heading about 6 items down on the left. Click it, and you will see your pass code options on the right. -
Which Apple Airport Express
Digital-sound replied to HardyKefes's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
I have never looked at the model. I just bought one off the shelf at future shop. But pretty certain they will all work. -
That is strange to me. But I don't have a set of IEM's anymore to test it. Maybe that is the issue the OP has? I would think you should be able to control outputs A and B independently. As though they were plugged into two onstage monitors. And if they are linked in the M20d, then it is even more strange that Line6 has not set up a way to pan it. I would try to set it up again first. From scratch and watch as the icons appear when you first plug into outputs A and B, and then see if they disappear when you connect the other end of the cables to your IEM. They shouldn't disappear. EDIT - I see you are the OP. Sorry for that oversight....
-
The update wont be possible (I don't think), as the monitor out's are mono. Only one signal can leave. It is not possible to pan. If the L6 link went to a yet to be released IEM system with an L6 link, then that would be available possibly. Now how about that for a new product? IEM's from Line 6 with L6 link technology. Wireless of course, but they could be part of the whole speaker system! Off to the idea board I go!
-
Not with the L6 link, no you cannot. You can record to your computer with the USB cable and it can be captured by any DAW. Any recording program - Reason, ProTools, Studio One, and many more, It is also not set up to connect to your RJ45 on your computer. Chances are, your RJ45 is on your modem card, not an audio card. I assume you are asking to use the rj45 to transfer audio? It won't work for an Internet connection either. Between the board and computer. Your RJ45 on your computer cannot be used in anyway with the M20D. There are two USB ports on the board. One is to go to your computer, and the other is to read USB sticks, or to create a wireless connection. To record files to your computer, use the USB "type B" socket to connect the board to your computer. Trying to keep my reply bot useful, and easy to understand. So I will stop and you can ask more if you need.

What would you plug the L6 Digital link into? Because to reiterate silverhead...... Nor have they made any interface for it aside from what is in their speakers. This is probably the main reason. We can only use the L6 link between the speakers, and the board. Maybe it is something to put into the "Idea" section. It seems like a good idea. Hope this helps,

In a live performance, it is unlikely you will have any stereo instruments with the exception of those that produce stereo (keyboards, HD500, etc) and they will also use two inputs. We had a similar discussion in another thread on here. You wont get a true stereo, but, you can pan things to left and right using 2 monitor sends. You won't be able to do any panning with a signal coming out of the monitor sends (a,b,c,d) from the M20D. You will have to use two sends. If you want something in both ears equally (vocals?), then you must send the same amount of signal to each ear. (from each send). Then you can put guitar over in one ear by increasing guitar in send in "A", and decreasing guitar in send "B". And bass over in the other ear by increasing bass in send "B" and decreasing bass in send "A". I am not overly familiar with IEM, but if they have a pan on them, you will still likely have to adjust at the board, and leave your IEM pan in the middle. Assuming it just pans send A and send B. But the first paragraph here is the only way I think you will be able to pan things or keep them in the middle on the M20D as far as a monitor mix goes. You can do it on the front end through the PAN knob, but not on the monitors. Just not built that way. (and then I read the post above and realised it is a long winded repeat of that...more or less...sorry lites...)

Your level is only at -6.8db. That is not overly high. And the trim is at +14 which seems plenty high enough. It would be good to see what the guitar is at that you say is so loud. Can you send those levels as well? Anyway, I don't want to add too much confusion and dboomer is far more familiar with the board than I am. Let him advise.
-
And I think that is okay, as long as you are able to set the volume to an acceptable level with some headroom still. But, if you never reach the level you are using to set the trim level, then maybe you should set softer. I think answering dboomer would be helpful too. What are the levels being set at? And what dB do you need to set the channel fader at for performance?
-
I have not actually used the auto trim to set my levels. I have set everything manually, and I am just counting on auto trim to correct if someone gets too loud. From what I know, your auto trim sounds like it is working. How much louder are you singing to set the trim compared to when you are singing for your performance? When the input gain is set on any board, it is set so that at your loudest point in the night, you will not "clip". Maybe you are setting it with too high of a vocal compared to what you are actually going to song. If the level you are setting the trim at, is a level you will be using during the performance, the. I think it has set correctly.

Usb Hub With M20d?
Digital-sound replied to jaminjimlp's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
I use the Ethernet to USB adapter. It comes with a USB port which I have some backing tracks on. So it is kind of like a hub. I have two things going into the M20D USB port. My ethernet for airport express, and my backing tracks on a USB drive. Works no problem. I think I read that you can use a hub. But I think powered is best.- 11 replies

Looks like the light on my airport express does turn green when connected to only my M20D. -
Airport Express And Stagescape
Digital-sound replied to federalhog's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
I believe my light blinks amber when connected. I will double check. I think green is when it has an Internet connection....which mine never does. Basically, it was plug and play. I had been using mine for something else. I did a "reset" by holding down the little button. Then all I did to set it up was change the name to "stagescape" and put a password on it. I didn't change any other settings. Works great. I meant to add- both of those steps were optional. Like Arne says, it works right out of the box. -
To my knowledge, (a bit limited), I don't believe any of the recent digital mixers have an app for android (presonus, Yamaha, behringer, mackie). I read elsewhere it is due to the many versions of hardware that have the android system on it. Ipad is an ipad is an ipad. They are all the same. Makes it much easier to develop stable software. I would not want to start a debate between the systems, but I had a cheap android phone (Motorola droid) and apps I downloaded for that phone, would often have many more "glitches" than the same app did on my friends Samsung galaxy. Shouldn't be like that. With iPhone and ipad, the apps on my devices perform the same as they do on everyone else's iphone and ipad. I can understand being concerned with releasing an android version. And my experience with android systems would make me a little nervous depending on it at a show. (But I would cause I like gadgets). I a, not a developer, but this is what I heard from one with another company. Don't know the reality though. Makes sense to me.

I had the exact same question before I bought mine. No regrets. -
Setups And Scenes
Digital-sound replied to Digital-sound's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
So I think I understand it correctly. But the manual says the setup saves channel levels and effects. But the scene also saves these. In any case, I am using it correctly. I save a setup for each band, and I save a scene for each room the band plays in. We don't need to change from song to song, but settings change a bit from room to room. So rooms don't need as much reverb, or might need slightly different monitor eq depending on what is behind us. When we arrive and set up, I load the setup for the band I am playing with. Once sound check is done, I save it as a scene and name it after the room we are in, and the band. Next time back to that room, with that band, I load the setup, and then I load the scene. Make sense? EDIT-and yes, channel presets are all saved for each instrument and voice in our group already. Which are then part of the setup I load, which is further tweaked when I load the scene for the room we are in. If I have one saved. -
Sd Card Recording And Mixing On M20d
Digital-sound replied to bassman24's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
I love good sound. I wish our drummer would go the electric route. He is not "anti electronic". Just can't justify spending the money as a weekend warrior. Guess I can't blame him. Indeed, it would be a very accurate, virtual sound check when everything is direct. Stage volume is very likely much lower than FOH. It also generally becomes a much better FOH sound as well! -
Hi, I am asking for some clarification on the difference between "setup" and "scene". I have read the manual, but they seem to overlap if I am correct in my understanding. The Setup: current configuration of all inputs and outputs FX and channel settings channel levels mutes and pans monitor levels foot-switch assignments stage icon layout (onstage gear) The Scene: settings for processor and FX parameters channel levels mute, solo, pan position monitor send levels So to be clear, and how I use it, the "Setup" loads the band I am playing with (we have three guitarists we use depending who is available...one doesn't sing, two do, so it is great for this to load up with presets tweaked to their voices, or, no mic when the one who doesn't sing is with us). That part, I completely expect of a saved "setup". But that is almost where I would expect it to stop. The "scene" I would think is what would be more "room" dependant. Same band, different room, and therefore different monitor tweaks and levels, and different channel levels and probably FX levels. But the levels are included in the "setup" as well. Do they load in with the "setup", and then change when the "scene" is loaded? I guess the short question is: Where there are duplicates saved by both "setup", and "scene", does the "scene" override the "setup"? If i tweak my monitors, and save it in the "setup", and then retweak and save in a "scene", will the "setup" be the "default", and the "scene" will then override the "default"? How is my understanding of this? assuming you understand what i am trying to understand! have not had the time to play with this on my own. I will, but always good help on the forum!

Good information. I was waiting for the moment that others have had, and now I should be able to avoid the problem!
