  1. Best part is, it was all "Show me, show me, show me!"... and then he ignored all the clips that were posted anyway, lol... I've seen more skillful manipulation from little old ladies in retirement homes.
  2. Now that hurts...I might not sleep tonight. And yourself? What have you brought to the table with any of this?
  3. He's not trying to convince anyone else of anything. He's trying to talk himself into a $3K purchase that he clearly wants, but is having trouble justifying. Otherwise he'd have skipped this absurd "my finely tuned perception is better than yours" dance, and his Axe III would already be in transit.
  4. Thank you sir, much appreciated! And after some sober reflection, I think I'd have to vote for bacon, too. Forgive me...I skipped lunch today. ;)
  5. Yup. There are a thousand reasons why these discussions are irretrievably pointless. Preferences are exactly that... preferences. They have no intrinsic value, and never will. Which makes arguing over the "best" anything, utterly useless, and determining who's subjective evaluation is "right" impossible to achieve. So you're left with trying (in vain) to convince yourself that what you've already decided, is in fact "correct". May as well have a steel cage match to determine the world's "best" sandwich meat. I "win" because I like smoked turkey, and your pro-ham argument has failed to convince me. Really? Ugh... it boggles the mind.
  6. You do understand that demanding "proof" of something that (by definition) cannot be quantified, or otherwise measured in any definitive/ objective way, is like to trying to pick up a turd by the clean end, right? Never mind... don't answer that, we've all wasted enough time already. You'll "win" the argument by default, because what you're demanding cannot be done. It's a half-clever (yet thoroughly obnoxious) means of seeking external validation for an already fully-formed opinion. And while it makes for some festive arguments, in the end it achieves nothing and helps no one. Your Congressman would be proud.... But what the hell, I'll bite....I posted the same clips a while back in a previous iteration of this retarded discussion. So as long as we're all intent on taking yet another ride on the stupidmobile, here ya go: Listen to This Really Needs A Title by cruisinon2 #np on #SoundCloud https://soundcloud.com/user-100603322/this-really-needs-a-title Listen to Here Goes Nuthin' by cruisinon2 #np on #SoundCloud https://soundcloud.com/user-100603322/here-goes-nuthin-final-edit Love it, hate it... either way, it's no skin off my a$$.
  7. In retrospect, I should have stopped reading after "I don't want to start trouble, but..."
  8. My dad says my ears are better than everybody's...;)
  9. Oh goody... another "if you can't hear the difference then there's something wrong with your ears" thread. It's been a while. I bet this one finally declares one subjective opinion to be "right", because as well all know, if something is said emphatically enough, it just "becomes" truth... lmao And we're off!
  10. As others have indicated, one man's "optimized" is another's "this sounds worse than the smell of a boiled Grand Central Station men's room". Experimentation is the only way to find out what "optimized" means for you. There's no right or wrong answer, and no "one size fits all" approach... the are way too many external variables.
  11. Simply put, no. There are way too many external variables that have nothing to do with the speakers themselves...a test drive is the only way to tell. What an a$$...this guy is what's technically known as a "schmuck". What possible justification could he have for refusing to tell you? National security? Does he think it'll cause the magnetic poles to shift? If he's getting paid, then he has no legitimate reason for withholding his "double secret" channel settings.... when he goes to take a leak, sneak behind the board and take a picture. Then post his "magic" on Facebook.
  12. No, it's not a touchscreen... there's a joystick to navigate around the signal chain blocks, and up/down through various menus. Also a handful of physical knobs and buttons to change parameters, enter other menus, access global settings, save, etc. etc.
  13. There will really be only one way to tell if it will work for you or not. Buy from somewhere with a decent return policy, like Sweetwater (I'm unaffiliated, just a customer)...30 days, no questions asked.
  14. That would indeed be amazing... except for one thing: You can't do that, lol...;) Not sure where you got the idea from, but the Helix has no power section. It cannot drive a passive speaker cabinet. You can do any of the following: 1) Run straight into the front of an amp (though I wouldn't recommend it) 2) Into the FX return of a head or combo (a much better choice) 3) Use the 4 cable method with a head/cab or combo, or 4) Into a powered monitor and/or straight to the PA. But the juice has to come from somewhere.... and the Helix itself ain't got none.
  15. No. Best you can do is set up a "template" patch, which you copy/ paste into another slot... then make changes to, and/or swap out individual blocks.
  16. I like peanut butter.... extra chunky. And not those "healthy" ones with a gallon of oil floating on top, that require a 3" auger bit and a power drill to stir up.
  17. Why? lol... leaving it here won't hurt anything. I'd help ya, but I don't have the Stomp... somebody wil chime in.
  18. Original ideas that don't suck are hard to come by. "Creatively acquiring" somebody else's idea is easy... damn near effortless, really.
  19. It'll be a whole lot easier to just do everything through the monitors... plus, that way you'll have continuity. The tone you hear while laying down tracks will be exactly what you hear in the playback. That's not gonna happen using the Powercab to monitor while you're recording, but then listening back on something else. Speakers account for at least half of your tone, so what you hear from the Powercab won't be the same as the playback through the monitors. And trying to mix with the Powercab is a non-starter... even if you had two of them. They're simply not designed for that. You need a pair of reference monitors to mix multitrack recordings.
  20. Not entirely sure what you're asking, and I think we're getting lost in the terminology here...are you taking about an individual block, a snapshot, or the entire patch (preset) itself? You can't assign more than one preset to the same footswitch, for obvious reasons... only one patch can be loaded at any given time. You can assign more than one FX block to a given footswitch, if that's what you're asking. Snapshot mode will also do what you're looking for... each snapshot will instantly recall the state of every block in the signal chain, with each block toggled on or off, and/or individual FX parameter changes made, as desired... all with one click, and without the audio drop-out that companies a patch change.
  21. I understand the sentiment, and I'd like it too...but I'm not holding my breath. This is the same company that doesn't even trust us to adjust the height of the mag pickups, for fear that we'll screw up the instrument beyond repair and/or destroy the ionosphere. There'll be a foot of snow in Miami before they sell guts with new tech to retrofit an old guitar....
  22. Nope. To the best of my knowledge, no such device exists. You can't cherry pick specific notes to be routed to one path, but not the other.
  23. I'm assuming you're taking about wireless units here... but in order for anyone to help you, you'll have to provide a lot more info. What units are you using, and what are you connecting them to?
  24. Yes, that's all a given... Wireless VDI ain't coming anytime soon, and there's a distinct possibility that we'll never see it at all. So, you either go wireless and lose Helix control of the guitar, or you deal with a cable. Either way, there's not much to discuss... it is what it is.
