Mark IV model loss of gain after extended playing session
shredzilla1964 replied to s4n1ty's topic in Helix
Well, I've got to preface this by saying I'm not exactly a fan of this amp model I can't seem to really make it sound good regardless no offense to anyone... I set up a tube screamer with the gain on about 6.5, the mark 4 lead amp, raised the two lead gain drive whatever up to about 6.5 and used an ownHammer IR.... after waiting the hour I didn't notice any appreciable difference in the sound, ( after switching away from and coming back to the preset) I'm on version 2.20, passive pickups (tonezone) -

Definately seems like some ear bending going on, I experience alot of the same phenomena especially when going between patches... what seems ideal then seems too treble or...

I do 4cm with a jvm 410h... It has a parallel Loop that has a mix adjustment that allows you to make it serial, works great!
-
Yep this was my go to vid for setting up my JVM in 4cm! Very clear and informative.

This is probably a very newbie-ish question that comes down to basic Windows File and folder management... so please forgive me if this is obvious :p How do I for example set things up so that when I click on any of the options that direct me to a folder,i.e import/load preset/save preset/ load i.r/....etc. the task specific folder is accessed? I'm running the editor on a win7 laptop, and currently regardless of what function I click on, the last accessed folder is the one that comes up, like if I save a preset and then go to load some impulse responses I have to navigate Through the Windows menu to the impulse response folder .. I hope I explained that well enough that someone understands what I'm trying to do?

yes sir i meant aux, lol sorry bout that. move the low cut slider to the right, till it starts having an affect, as stated by others 120hz is kind of an average number... but use your ears!
-
When you say you set your low cut to zero, do you mean you have the slider all the way to the left?
-
That's exactly what I meant, i.e what are your settings for your chosen in/outs, also try the input pad switch & the auction input. I personally think that most of the presets on customtone leave a bit to be desired... I've had much better results just making my own from scratch
-
Also, note that in my experience, adjusting the impedance provides a very subtle effect... it may be worth examining where your input and output levels are set globally, i.e line/mic, etc.
-
Just to clarify its not located in the global options pages you actually click on the input icon either on the unit or in the editor.
-
Do you have the editor? If so move the mouse cursor over to the input and click on it, that brings up all the options one of which is adjusting impedance. If no editor, just navigate to the input on the unit itself.
-
The impedance is located in the inputs section. As far as low end goes it depends a lot on what settings you have dialed in you can do you high and low cuts on your cabinets/ir's etc.

Jvm410h is definitely finicky with tubes. Definitely get on the jvm Forum and do some searching there's a lot of good info there in regards to what tubes people utilize in the various positions to maximize tone and minimize extraneous noise and hiss. I will eventually get around to trying out the 4 cable method myself with my 410H/ helix.... I'll post my results

Ok, just had to go into the controller assignment tab and select exp 2. Yay!!!
-
Hmmm.... The wah TURNS ON when I move the exp pedal, the problem is there is no sweep, it's just locked in, perfect for an instant cocked wah sound lol What am I not doing right?
-
Thanks man I'll give er a shot & report back
-
Could someone kindly walk me from point A>B how to set a a wah to behave like a morely bad horsie i.e I'd like to have the exp pedal set to heel down = off...push forwards = on I'm using the floor unit, I've gone into bypass assign and selected exp 2 and I can see the wah turn on when I go to heel position, albeit there is no change in the sweep, it just comes on at a set position?? I feel I'm a click away from getting this but I may have missed a meeting :)

Yes it SOUNDS like e.m interference, kind of like before lcd flat panel monitors... old crt monitors would predictably produce what you describe to a T. Seems you've done the basic trouble shooting.... could be the luck of the draw with the power sources that you've tried.- 38 replies
