  1. So you are using Spider Edit on the computer? Are you then 'moving' the saved sound patch to one of the amp's 4 patch locations?
  2. I believe you are talking about the modeling knob, but it sounds like there is a problem in your preamp that could only be solved by a repair center.
  3. Try a pair of headphones in the rear jack - is the hiss present there, too? Does the sound of the guitar come out of the speakers, or just the noise?
  4. Not sure about the 'latency' of the sound coming up as you descibe, but you need to save presets you want to use to one of the 64 user patch locations (banks 1-16, each with a, b, c and d locations) - you adjust the channel volumes on each prior to saving so that each patch will have approximatley the same volume ( or louder, for example, if hti sis a lead tone patch).
  5. How are you connecting it to the computer? Ideally you need some type of audio interface, which will convert the audio signal to digital. This audio interface will take the place of the built-in soundcard in your computer which is really not made for music recording. Note that the output of hte headphone/DI on the amp is stereo, so idially ou wnat to split it off to two inputs on an audio interface.
  6. I have no personal experience with the Scarlett interfaces, but I have read nothign bad about them. If you're looking to be able to record more than 2 simultaneous tracks at a time in the furture, the 6i6 is a viable option.
  7. The only real difference is the power and speaker size. Both amps feature a CD/MP3 input jack.
  8. Yes, you can do this without a mic. Using the DI/headphone output of the Spider, come out of it to dual 1/4" (left + right) plugs (adapter cable or cable + adapters) into the line inputs of the Scarlett. This will let you take advantage of the Spider's stereo FX when used. You could also adapt from the stereo DI/headphone output to a mono 1/4" plug into 1 of the Scarlett's inputs. Other audio interface choices would be: Presonus Audiobox Steinberg UR12 or UR22 Tascam US1200 or US2x2 Line 6 UX1 Generally, the more you pay for an AI, the more features you get such as multiple line outs, MIDI capability, more inputs/mic preamps, etc.
  9. Here is the manual, if you haven't read it over yet: http://l6c-acdn.line6.net/data/6/0a060b316ac34f05935d6c78e/application/pdf/Spider%20Valve%20User%20Manual%20(%20Rev%20A%20).pdf You can save 4 patches in the A B C and D locations on the amp, these are what you would access via the FBV's patch select buttons.
  10. Don't post the same question in multiple places on the forum in the future! This has been answered over the Spider section of the forum where you asked it twice!
  11. There have been no actual changes to the hardware of the MkII boards since release, only firmware.
  12. The HD100 is not capable of using downloaded tones - it is an older model that does not have that capability. The FBV Shortboard is a controller only - there are no audio signals going in/out of it - it just controls the FX and parameters of the amp. To use a looper with this amp, plug your guitar into the looper input and then the looper output to the amp.
  13. You can load your tones using Spider Edit, or from the front panel of the amp.
  14. If you can set your loop in Reason to constantly replay (most DAWs offer this), you can change the PodFarm settings while it is doing this.
  15. Did you register the amp and FBV on the Line 6 webstie? Did you download Spider Monkey? That is the programs that updates and installs other Line 6 software. However, The HD100 is an older model, and does not offer tone download capability nor does ihave a looper.
  16. Yeah, wiht its memory spots and extra volume, the 75 is a very good choice for first amp. Be careful of who you talk to at a store - not all 'self professed experts' are that! The Pod will not let you connect the amp to the internet. To find tones you like, you can start with any of the presets in the amp or with the basic manual settings, then adjust the Drive and EQ controls, then the FX controls. Experiment to see how each one affects your overall sound. You may not be able to exactly match someone's else's tone because of your guitar choice, and because of their particular amp and effects choices.
  17. Have you read the manual? To connect the amp to a computer for tone saving or downloading, you need to use an FBV MkII Express or Shortboard pedal.
  18. Once you have it installed and updated there should be no need for futher updates. There hasn't been any new updates on PodFarm for a while, and gearbox is no longer supported.
  19. If you set the UX2 as your system 'audio device' it should work. You may need to also select it as the audio input device in those programs.
  20. There are song and artist/band preset patches that you can access through the 4-way switch and preset knob on the amp (you can't access these via the FBV MKIV Express). The Express allows you to select the 'channel' (A, B, C, D) of the particular user bank you have selected on the amp.
  21. What is your power supply like? I've heard of people curing this problem by using a conditioned power supply (like a Furman conditioner) because their electricity voltage was actually varying quite a bit.
  22. It doesn't matter which is positive and which is ground as long as you wire both speakers to the plugs the same way. So just look in the cabinet and check to see if the red and white wires are hooked to the same terminals on each speaker (left or right).
  23. I assume you verified the power cord is not loose. I think in hte past people have detemined it is a bad component or solder joint in the amp that is causing the problem (when it heats up, it expands and power goes off) which would require servicing at an authorized service center.
  24. What OS are you using? If its Win7 make sure you have all microsoft updates installed - there was a cache issue in the original releases.
