  1. You can't change the functions of the FBV with your amp, it only works for MIDI device implementation.
  2. That mic is a dynamic mic so does not need phantom power. Can you test the mic somehow - plug it into a PA amp (your friend's)?
  3. The UX1 is your audio interface when you have it plugged in - you need to select it as the default audio device in your control panel.
  4. Are you sure the mic and cable are working? What microphone are you using? (if it is a condensor mic, do you have the KB37 phantom power turned on?)
  5. Have you tried calibrating the FBV? Sorry you're having problems - it would have been better just to rewrite your presets over the existing ones, rather than do the factory reset which is really used when there's a problem with the amp.
  6. I don't know if parts for the 3 series are still available. You coudl try emailing storesupport@line6.com.
  7. Yes, the changes you can do thorugh the software woudl only be for MIDI control, not for control of the Spider amp.
  8. Some people just don't like the PodFarm distortion - specially for metal. The latest PodFarm distortions are much better than early generations which were very 'fizzy'. Generally, when recording distortion, "less is more" - dial a little out of the amp before recording it, but as you are adding it after recording, it's really a matter of finding the sound you like. Try just a distortion FX (no amp sim), or try adding the FX after the amp sim. There's so many options for routing and settings in PodFarm, and no one but you really knows what sound you're aiming for.
  9. It sounds like you may be trying to download tones set up for a Spider amp, rather than tones for PodFarm.
  10. If you bought the amp new it is still under warranty. It sounds like it will need to be evaluated and repaired by an authorized service center.
  11. Do you have an FBV pedal plugged into it? If so, it could be the CAT5 cable or the pedal itself. If not, or if it happens whether you have the pedal plugged in or not, try backing up all your custom patches with SpiderEdit (you need an FBV MkII pedal to do that) to yoru computer, then do a factory reset.
  12. You would need to troubleshoot the amp, to determine where the problem is. It may be the amplifier section itself, or just the output part. As thi is a rather old amp, an d a smaller model, hopefully you did notpay much for it - or can get a refund from the seller, if they were less than forthright about it.
  13. On the fan noise - move away from the computer, or use a dynamic mic (which would be less sensitive), try to set up with the 'null' of hte mic towards the noise-producing stuff.
  14. You can bypass the Spider's preamp by plugging the output of the HD500 into the MP3/CD input on the back of the amp - note this bypasses all the controls, including (I believe) the master volume control - so all your sound adjustments woudl need to be done on the Pod.
  15. On the phone's sound - make sure you have the correct adapter cable to plug into the amp - the end that plugs into the ampshoudl be a stereo (3 conductor) 1/8" plug. Noise - any noise you get would be attributable to the guitar and pedals you have on the input side - the amp itself doesnt' make any apprecialbe noise.
  16. Yeah, Line 6 says the 15 is unservicable - at $99 or less new price, when standard minimum tech charge is $75 just to look at something.
  17. You have to select the UX2 as your Reaper input device in 'preferences' > 'audio device'. Then arm a track for recording, you should see th emeter jump when you talk in to the mic.
  18. If you are running Windows, go into the Sound Device settings and select the Pod as the audio device.
  19. No, the old Guitarport does not have an expression pedal outlet.
  20. 1) Yes - assume you mean running the XLR out of the HD500 into the UX2.
  21. Cannot be done. FBV Control is only for MIDI implementation. You would need to use an FBV Shortboard which has separate switches for the FX.
  22. Ther's nothing wrong with using the Pod to record direct through USB (not using the Focusrite - in fact you are using 2 less A-D/D-A converters by doing so. When you are monitoring (the bad sound) are your headphones or monitor speakers hooked up to the Focusrite or the POD? It sound to me like you've got a loop going - feeding the guitar(POD) signal back thorugh the Focusrite from Sonar thorugh its monitoring capability, and that is creating a phase issue. Does the Focusrite use a software 'mixer'? Check to see if you have the armed track(s) monitoring ON in Sonar, and turn it off if you do.
