I've never seen any published specs for the frequency range of the amp or speaker. Start with the volume low - the danger would be from the low frequency (kick drum) .

Sipder IV 30: switching 2 saved settings

What you are doing should do it. Try adjusting one of the parameters a little, then set it back to where it should be, then trying the save. -
PC --> FVB MKII --> Spider IV75 ... No Control
fflbrgst replied to kkelly9's topic in FBV Controllers (MKI / MKII / 3)
That is correct. When you have computer connected to FBV to the amp, you can only change amp settings via Spider Edit. -
For a start, you are not going to be able to download new tones to your Spider IV 15 - this amp does not have that capability. You can use the Express to change between the 4 preset locations and as a volume or wah pedal. It is only necessary to disable your firewall and anti-virus software WHILE you are updating the Express firmware via Monkey. Once you have done that. you can turn them all on again. So, connect the Express to your computer via a USB cable (do not have the Express connected to your amp at this time) once you have turned off all the FW and AV stuff. Open up Monkey. It should recognize the Express now. If it doesn't, you could try a different USB cable or computer (I had to use a borrowed laptop). Anyway, you probably can use the Express with your amp without updating its firmware - it really is "plug and play" with this amp. I'm not following your comment regarding a guitarport, which is an interface device for plugging a guitar directly into your computer - do you also have one of these, and you are trying to use the Express to control software, like PodFarm?

Can't really comment on Canadian prices, but that seems incredibly expensive for an old used amp! A search on Guitar Center's web site shows used heads going for $120- $190 US. Spider IV 150HD heads are going for a little more, $200- $230 US. If this is the 150 2x12 combo you are talking about, the used sell prices are around $300 US. I would strongly advise against buying an old Spider 3 amp at this time - they are at least 6 years old and the modeling on the Spider 4s is so much better, also there's no warranty on the used amp (I guess you could buy an extended warranty if the selling place offers it).

Almost - 'Monkey' is used to update all your Line 6 software. As there have been no Spider updates in quite a while, you should be good to go once you have used Monkey to check your FBV and amp firmware and Spider Edit. -
Spider IV 15 "ground" noise when using phones output
fflbrgst replied to lduperval's topic in Spider IV / Spider Online
How old/new is the amp? They are unrepairable (it costs more to open them up and test than a new one). You could try spraing some electronic cleaner into the controls, but it probably won't help, sounds like it may be a pot going bad. -
Spider IV 15 "ground" noise when using phones output

No, this is not normal. Does the buzzing/noise happen if you turn up the volume with no guitar plugged into the amp? Have you tried a different guitar cable or guitar? What you described sounds like it might be a problem with one of those. -

FBV Control is for MIDI implementation. You should be able to use Spider Edit with W10 (but I'm not sure) -

Download the 'Spider Edit' software, this is how to transfer tones from CustomTones - you download, then 'drag and drop' them into the amp using Edit. -

Unfortunately, the WD40 - which is a water-dispersed OIL has probably shorted out some components in your amp. You will need to take the amp to an authorized service center for evaluation and repair. -
You can use any standard 'stomp box' external FX pedal between your guitar and the amp. The only Line 6 controller pedal that works with the Spider IV 15 is the FBV MkII Express.

No, right software (I assume this is Line 6 Monkey), correct cable. Make sure you have your firewall turned off, any anti-virus turned off and see if this lets Monkey 'see' the FBV. I had problems with my computer I was using at the time (running an old Windows version), but was able to use another computer to d/l and install the updates. -
Plug the FBV and amp together sing the CAT5 cable. Using a USB cable, connect the FBV to your computer. Turn on the amp. Boot up Line 6 Monkey, it will check for connected devices and advise on updates for the amp.

Is this a Shortboard MkII? If so, you might try using Monkey to make sure you have updated firmware. Otherwise, there seems to be some issue with the device itself.
-
"Half the power" = do you mean half the volume? If so, please check the settings for the volume pedal of the shortboard (this is in the amp settings) -it may be set to 50% as the maximum.

head goes quiet then loud then quiet, and no tuner...

Unfortunately, it sounds like something only a service center could assist with figuring out what's wrong with it. Considering its age, it might not be worth it. -

As far as I know, the MKI only has a CAT5 connector for the Spider amp. -
