  1. Unless you are using a stereo-to-mono adapter to the Scarlett, you are getting only one of the 'sides' of the output, which will affect the sound that gets recorded.
  2. What kind of sound? Did you try a factory reset (hold the 'A' or Clean button in while turning on the power)? If it persists, just return it to the place you bought it for exchange.
  3. Well if you don't have any sound out of the HD500 with headphones, then something is wrong there! You should be able to hear your guitar! Just to be clear, you have the Behringer UMC hooked up to your computer via USB, correct? And it is selected as the audio input and output device in Reaper?
  4. Note that the headphone output is stereo - have you adapted it to mono output to your interface?
  5. Yes, repairs these days on SS amps with processors in them can get expensive. Not like the old days when you could get a valve head re-capped, new power transformer put in for $100 by some guy working out of his garage shop. Like everything else electric/electronic it's all 'disposable'.
  6. Or you could just move up to the free version of PodFarm, which is SO MUCH BETTER than Gearbox ever was!
  7. Check your cable and guitar - is it possible the distortion is coming from one of them? If not, then return the amp while you still have the standard store return time to do so.
  8. As far as I know there is no way to do that. The amp's only 'communication' is through the FBV MkII pedal, including when hooked up to a computer via USB.
  9. You should use the line outputs from the UX1. Simple 1/4" TS phone plug to RCA cables, like this stereo one: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/CPR206
  10. There's nothing in the Behringer description that says it provided a LOAD to the amp, only that it attenuates the signal.
  11. Plug in a set of headphones to hear just the preamp section. To test the amplifier section, plug an MP3 player into the MP3 input on the back.
  12. Sounds like you replaced the main power fuse, but not the fuse that protects the actual amplifier or the amp output (not sure which) - you should start a support ticket on it.
  13. Amps like the Line 6 that have a Line Out/Headphone jack that automatically disengages the speakers can be used as a DI direct to your audio interface input(s) because the amp output section is effectively disengaged when you do this. You do not want to run any amp not wired this way without a connected output. A DI box is not what you want if you want to run the speaker output of an amp to your interface input - you need a power attenuator/load box like this one: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/RockCrusher
  14. To hear what you are recording without using PodFarm, in your DAW you set track monitoring to 'on'. If you do this - then what you hear is what is being recorded (the other ways you are doing this does not let you monitor what is actually being recorded). This should be the clean signal. If is not clean, if it is 'degraded' as you call it, then the problem lies in the A-D conversion of the UX2 - assuming you have since tried different USB cable and USB port - TRY THEM - it won't cost you anything but a few minutes to do so!
  15. FBV Control is used for MIDI control of some external device (connected to the computer) or software - not sure what you are trying to do.
  16. You need to set the channel volume to the correct level, then save that setting by pressing and holding in the A, B, C or D button 9whicever preset location you are using).
  17. Not with a Spider amp. It might be assignable in MIDI using the Control software.
  18. Ok, now I'm confused - before you indicated you have tried various DAWs - do you perhaps have PodFarm running as an input device to the DAW plus it is running as a plug-in in the DAW? You should be able to run from the UX2 input device directly into your DAW with no PodFarm running. You said you were recording the sound 'dry' - that means with PodFarm disabled.
  19. Your best bet is to call them.
  20. It's not PodFarm that is the problem. I have used it for years - and 'faceshapes' problem happens even when he doesn't use it. You can't run two audio interfaces at one time (unless you are using a Mac, and then can use multiple USB interfaces with some work). Low price interfaces: Roland Duo-Capture Focusrite Scarlett Solo (new - no reviews yet) and Scarlett 2i2 Steinburg UR12 and UR22 Tascam US 2X2
  21. Sounds to me like there is something wrong with the A-D converter in the UX2. But that's unusual in that the D-A seems to be ok.
  22. No, you should be able to record exactly what you want. If its a dry signal, nothing added to the sound via PodFarm, that's what should be recorded. I assume you have tried track monitoring in your DAW and hear the bad sound (as compared to the direct monitoring). Have you tried playing a music file (not something you recorded) out through the UX2 and monitor speakers? Insert a media file into your DAW an dsee how that sounds.
  23. There's something wrong with the pedal, bring it back to where you bought it and exchange it for another one.
  24. So you have not tried ..... All I can tell you is that others have had problems with bad cables or input circuits ... Sorry you are having problems - 3 years in, your warranty on the UX2 has expired. This is really something you should have tried to sort out from day 1.
  25. No, there are no special settings needed on the amp. Double check your adapter cable and iPod (use headphones on it) to make sure its working correctly. If everything seems ok, you may have a problem with the CD/MP3 input jack.
