Sorry but I forget the exact terminology, but basically you have to export/drag-and-drop the new patch(es) to the amp, not just the Spider Edit view you see.

Sound Issue with Toneport UX2 Studio
fflbrgst replied to ale79's topic in POD Farm / POD Studio / TonePort
OK, since you are getting crappy sound with headphones, too, it would seem the UX2 is the problem - have you tried a different USB cable? (cables are the easiest thing to check!) Guessing, from your original post, that everything was working ok, then at some point the sound degraded? That would indicate something changed. Have you uninstalled the Line 6 drivers, deleted all of them from your hard drive and then reinstalled them? -
What pickup system do you have on your Taylor - the ES1 or ES2? The ES1.3 uses a balanced signal (TRS connection). If that's what you have and you are using a standard TS-TS guitar cable that may be the issue - you could try using a TRS-XLR cable (that's what I use to plug straight into a PA) with an XLR-TS converter/adapter, which is what I use when I want to plug my Taylor into a stompbox.

Spider IV Edit not working with FBV3? (Spider IV 75)
fflbrgst replied to katerlouis's topic in Spider IV / Spider Online
Sorry to tell you, its in the online description of the FBV3 in very small print at the bottom of the page that the FB3 cannot be used as an interface between the Spider IV amps and your computer, you must use an FBV MkII pedal for that. -
Sound Issue with Toneport UX2 Studio
fflbrgst replied to ale79's topic in POD Farm / POD Studio / TonePort
Sorry you are having problems. Have you tried plugging headphones directly into the front of the UX2 to see how it sounds that way (instead of your speakers)? What studio monitors do you have? That you mention a 'satellite' speaker makes me think these are probably small (3"?) speakers where the amplifier for both speakers is one, and the other is unpowered. It's very possible that the input circuit on your monitors or the output circuit of the UX2 or the cable connecting them is at fault. Again, checking the headphone output of the UX2 first - if its clear, then the problem is not the UX2. -
Spider V Amp with the MKII Shortboard
fflbrgst replied to lewisrichie73's topic in FBV Controllers (MKI / MKII / 3)
The Shortboard is just a controller - you save the preset on the amp - to one of the User Bank locations. You then use the up/down buttons on the Shortboard to change banks, and the ABCD buttons to select from the 4 presets saved to those bank locations. -
Doesn't sound promising - I would suggest bringing it to an authorized service center - but how old is your amp? It may not be worth it to evaluate/fix it.

A little help would be nice

Not sure what 'moderator approval' you came across! Go to the Spider V section of this forum and ask your questions. -
MKII not being found by Line6 Monkey on Windows 10
fflbrgst replied to Ederico's topic in FBV Controllers (MKI / MKII / 3)
Your first step is to make sure you have the current version of Monkey and Spider Edit installed on your computer. Then, using a USB cable, attach the FBV MkII pedal (do not connect the amp to it at this point). Make sure you have any anti-virus software and firewalls turned off. See if Monkey recognizes the FBV now. Update its software first. Then connect the amp to the FBV and update its firmware. -
Using pod farm 2 with pro tools 12.
fflbrgst replied to gman125's topic in POD Farm / POD Studio / TonePort
Why not ask Pro Tools why they won't set it up to allow outside vendor plug-ins? Considering PT has now gone to subscription service (meaning you pay every year to keep using it) its understandable why many people are using other DAWs now. -
Using a Splitter on Spider IV Output
fflbrgst replied to jagiger's topic in Spider IV / Spider Online
You could send the Spider output to (stereo, or 2) inputs on an audio interface that then feeds the computer via USB (or Firewire), and plug your headphones into the audio interface. Using the mic or line-in inputs of your computer should be avoided - the built-in soundcard in computers is really not made for audio recording functions - cheap A-D converters, only 16-bit and lousy monitoring options (latency). -
Spider IV Edit not working with FBV3? (Spider IV 75)
fflbrgst replied to katerlouis's topic in Spider IV / Spider Online
When you say its 'not working', do you mean that you cannot move patches from Spider Edit to the Spider amp? (and vice-versa to save them?) -
With the 5, you can only edit tones with a phone or pad? that's a severe drawback to me.

UX2 and Line 6 you'll never see me again!
fflbrgst replied to jubourbon's topic in Computer Audio Setup and Troubleshooting
It was working, then wasn't - what about your set up changed? Did you update to Win 10, or a new Mac O/S? -
You should start our own thread, instead of tagging onto an old one. Is your amp still under warranty? A visit to a factory service center is probably in order, although you could certainly try a factory reset.

Line 6 Spider IV 15 ( sound problem)
fflbrgst replied to AlexFromWestLos's topic in Spider IV / Spider Online
Because of their low cost, the 15s are not field serviceable. It could be something as simple as a bad solder joint or loose wire. -
Spider iv 120 preset knob not working
fflbrgst replied to thekvn's topic in Spider IV / Spider Online
If you have an FBV MkII Express or shortboard, you can back up all your patches using Spider Edit. -
Gear Box Freezing on Initializing DSP
fflbrgst replied to Xyloking's topic in POD Farm / POD Studio / TonePort
Gearbox has not been supported for quite a long time, not sure what drivers you used. In your DAW, are you selecting the Toneport as your audio input device. -
Connect small tube amp to UX1
fflbrgst replied to Kalsten's topic in Computer Audio Setup and Troubleshooting
XLR-XLR. But you'll get a better sound (arguably) by miking the speaker cabinet. -
Spider IV 150hd Cab Cables and Cat6?
fflbrgst replied to Exsomos's topic in Spider IV / Spider Online
The advantage of the CAT7 cables the guy posted was that they are more flexible (coil up nicely) compared to the somewhat brittle CAT5 cables. -
Spider IV 150hd Cab Cables and Cat6?
fflbrgst replied to Exsomos's topic in Spider IV / Spider Online
Hey psarkissian, ask your Belden guy about Cat 7 cables. In a thread in the FBV section of the forums a guy posted that these worked for him: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019VSRQTO www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019VSRQRQ -
I don't have a Spider 5, so may be wrong, but when you see "03A - 03D" as the choices for the 4 switches on the FBV Express, these are not effects - these are patches (i.e. different tones). You should be able to save patches to different user locations on the amp - for example, copy Acoustic 01A and 01B and Metal 09A and 09B (just giving an example) to USER 16A, B, C, D.
-
Ultimately, its up to you. The Spider 5's have just come out, there are bound to be some software patches coming through for a while, just like when the 4 came out. I wouldn't advise buying a 3, only because the amp itself could be 10 years old and its expected lifespan is unknown. Also, the 4 has much better modeling of both amps and FX, and allows USB connectivity.
-
If you mean download tone patches from online, no you can't do that with the Spider 3, it does not have USB connectivity via an FBV pedal.
-
Yeah, like deadlocked indicated - did you register your amp yet?
