You should have started a new thread to ask this question, but the answer is no, they are both part of the same FX control.

Keep an eye out for that reset problem - I've read of others experiencing it due to bad power cord/jack issues.- 4 replies

Instability of Spider IV head - extreme volume changes
fflbrgst replied to markhenesian's topic in Spider IV / Spider Online
Hi Mark - what you described sounds like the problem is actually that the channel volume (which is saved with any patch) is up too high in the saved patch.. This is often the case with the patches that come with the amp (and included in the update).- 4 replies

POD Farm for recording an amp
fflbrgst replied to RonNevison's topic in POD Farm / POD Studio / TonePort
You don't have to have a preamp chosen. Unless you are trying to modify the amp sound that you are recording, you would not choose any preamp or amp or speaker emulation. -
The only way to connect your amp to a computer is with an FBV MkII pedal - the Shortboard or the Express. You could damage your amp by plugging the CAT5 connection directly to a computer.

Simple Foot Pedal Toe Press Mod for the FVBMKII
fflbrgst replied to jackaugust's topic in FBV Controllers (MKI / MKII / 3)
The bumpers must soften up with use, seems to me it was only difficult when the pedal was new (although trying to do it when sitting is still difficult). The bumpers insure that when you step on the pedal in either mode all the way toe-down you don't hit the switch accidentally. -
For recording through USB, use headphones or your monitors to adjust the sound. For live use, adjust your patches with the amp's speakers. I prefer miking the amp's speakers for recording anyway, think it gives a better overall sound, but I understand that some people do not have the capability (either lack of a mic, or the volume issue).

spider iv 150 HD headamp gain issue
fflbrgst replied to deadlychris114's topic in Spider IV / Spider Online
Are you sure this was 'gain' and not just an increase in volume? The master volume setting is not saved with patches, only the channel volume. -
How to screw this back down? (Spider IV 15)
fflbrgst replied to eyeruleall's topic in Spider IV / Spider Online
The spacer (the part next to the bolt) looks like it is plastic (non-conducting?) so its most likely to prevent contact with the rectangular plate and the chassis, so needs to be inserted in the rect plate hole before inserting the bolt. -
Can't get pod farm signal to my DAW.
fflbrgst replied to markcline321's topic in POD Farm / POD Studio / TonePort
I don't believe that's true - you need the plug-in version to use it as a plug-in in your DAW. But you should be able to send the PodFarm output to the Scarlett (your soundcard) and then record that way. -
Can't get pod farm signal to my DAW.
fflbrgst replied to markcline321's topic in POD Farm / POD Studio / TonePort
You have to set the input of Sonar to PodFarm, not the Scarlett. Then set the mixer in PodFarm to output the processed signal. -
For sure, work with the amp first to see if you can at least get close to the tones you want. Any foot pedal will be compatible with the amp, but remember it seldom works to use distortion X distortion (i.e a foot pedal and the amp).

The Helix is really designed for live use, whereas PodFarm is for studio/home use.

Didn't realize you are in the UK, not sure what standard prices are like there. Thomann is the large equipment dealer I have heard of over there, and their price for the same Shure mic package is a little higher. The Sennheiser package is a little cheaper: https://www.thomann.de/gb/sennheiser_e835_s_bundle.htm and this lower-model Shure is even cheaper: https://www.thomann.de/gb/shure_sm_48_lc_bundle.htm You have quickly found what everyone involved in music production already knows - it can be a bottomless money pit! But much better to spend a little more now, than to be ocnstnatly replacing inferior cheaper equipment.
-
The Spider 15 is not field serviceable (it costs more to open up and diagnose than it is worth!) The dealer should have replaced it with a new model or refunded your money.

Not sure what you mean by 'unbearable whistles and noisy sounds'. I'm guessing that you were able to overdrive the little speaker in the 15 to get the sounds you wanted more than the 120 can be driven that way. I'm not a 'metal person', but I have read others not being satisfied with the Spider for metal sounds and used stomp box pedals to get the tones they want.

128G is fine to get started. Note that what takes up memory are the stored files. If she starts using the computer to download/process videos, that memory will fill up pretty quickly, though. For a mic - you are limited, by using the UX1 to a dynamic mic that does not need phantom power - not an ideal choice for recording acoustic guitar (or vocals, really), but its a place to start. If your daughter decides she wants to keep doing this (and be serious about it), you'll need to move up to an audio interface that can supply phantom power and that has more than one mic preamp. I would not suggest getting a phantom power preamp device, much better to move up to a better AI. Note here's a link to the PodFarm/UX1 online manual: http://line6.com/data/6/0a060b316ac34f0593c764e79/application/pdf/POD%20Farm%202%20Advanced%20User%20Guide%20-%20English%20(%20Rev%20B%20).pdf For a mic, the obvious answer would be a Shure SM58 (primarily a live vocal mic) or the Shure SM57 (primarily an instrument mic, but its basically the same as an SM58 without the ball end) https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/SM58 https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/SM57 The Sennheiser E835 is also a decent choice: https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/E835 Note that these all typically sell for $100, but you can sometimes get package deals that include an XLR cable and mic stand. Do not buy a used Shure mic from ebay or any private seller - there are a ton of counterfeits out there. None of these mics are ideal for recording, but if your daughter later wants to start performing live, they are mainstays of the live stage. There are cheaper versions of the Shure mics, too. "recording drums" - if you mean recording a set of drums, typically you would use at least 4 mics to do this (snare, kick and 2 overheads). More mics for bigger kits. If you mean electronic drums, these often have a USB output (hopefully audio and not just MIDI) and this can then be plugged direct into the computer, not using the UX1 at all.

The Line 6 store page says this one is compatible: http://store.line6.com/accessories/bags-covers.html?compatible_product=67

With a Spider amp, you step (very hard initially) on the toe of the pedal to switch between volume and wah.

useing podfarm with fbv mk11 express problems
fflbrgst replied to foofighterux2's topic in FBV Controllers (MKI / MKII / 3)
Ohoh, sorry you are having problems. In the past many people reported having problems when they updated the firmware on the FBV Express. Did you buy it new? I would suggest starting a support ticket from here: http://line6.com/support/tickets/ -
Spider II 210 and fbv shortboard programming
fflbrgst replied to reallyrandy's topic in FBV Controllers (MKI / MKII / 3)
The Spider II did not have this option. From the manual (you can access it here: https://line6.com/data/6/0a060b316ac34f059357c410f/application/pdf/Spider%20II%20User%20Manual.pdf ): Saving with FBV Shortboard: To prepare for saving, it’s a good idea to browse through the various factorystored preset sounds to decide which you can do without. Make a note of their Bank number and Channel letter so you can save your own sounds there instead. Save: Step on the FX LOOP switch until “NAME EDIT†is displayed. The Shortboard’s COMP and MOD switches then select one of the characters of the channel name so you can edit it. The DELAY and REVERB switches choose from the available letters, numbers and symbols. The Bank Up and Bank Down switches then pick a Bank you’d like to save within. Complete the Save: Press the A, B, C or D switch to store to that Channel Memory in the chosen Bank. The display will show “SAVINGâ€. Congratulations, you’re all done! -
No, the Shortboard does not provide audio to your computer via USB, it is only for sending control signals and for downloading sound patches to your amp. You can take the stereo output of the amp form the amp's headphone output (this disables the speaker output) and run that to your interface (HD300).

POD Farm 2.5 Vs POD Farm 2.5 iLOK?
fflbrgst replied to Blckspawn92's topic in POD Farm / POD Studio / TonePort
You would choose the iLok option if you want to be able to use PodFarm on different computers.
