  1. You can certainly use stompboxes in the signal chain between guitar and Pod. Not sure what you mean by
  2. I have heard of some Line 6 devices not doing well with active pickup guitars (wonder if that's what you mean about 'high gain'). Usually that can be rectified by using a stompbox between the guitar and device input that does not have 'true bypass' so acts as a buffer.
  3. 1) When you connect an external speaker using the rear speaker jacks on the amp, it disconnects the internal speaker. 2) Make sure you connect both left and right amp outputs to speakers (a stereo cabinet, or two cabinets) and they should be at least 8 ohms each. Whether they sound louder or better will depend on the speakers themselves - their efficiency, for one thing.
  4. Just about any current computer will have a fast enough processor for audio recording. 4G or more RAM will suffice as well - of course the more RAM (and faster processor) the better. Be sure that whatever audio interface you choose has drivers available for the computer's OS (Win 10, etc).
  5. At this point, the only reason for getting a mixer would be if your daughter wanted to have a 'band' (multiple people) all recording at the same time, and you don't want to invest in an audio interface with enough inputs. If it's just going to be her doing everything at this time, she doesn't need a mixer (a mixer takes multiple sources and mixes down to stereo), just an audio interface, and one with 2 inputs/mic preamps should be adequate to start. So the basic needs: Audio interface headphones and monitors (can get away with just headphones to start) Microphone? Is she going to be recording vocals, acoustic guitar (or other acoustic instruments including drums)? Also need mic stand and cables DAW - Digital Audio Workstation - recording software Not know what you have for current equipment makes it hard to recommend anything. If you have an Apple/Mac computer, then you can use Garageband as the DAW. If not, then Audacity is free - but rather limited. Here's some packages from guitar center: http://www.guitarcenter.com/IK-Multimedia/iRig-Pro-Duo-Studio-Suite.gc http://www.guitarcenter.com/Tascam/TrackPack-2x2-Complete-Recording-Studio-for-Mac-Windows.gc http://www.guitarcenter.com/Focusrite/Scarlett-Solo-Recording-Bundle-with-MXL-Mic-and-AKG-Headphones.gc
  6. I've never heard of anyone having a half second (500 millisecond) latency issue with Reaper. What are your buffer settings?
  7. Quite honestly, trying to use the equipment you have to do what you want is the wrong approach. First - a looper is used to record a live playing of an instrument - for example a rhythm guitar (or keyboard) part - so you can then set it to play back that loop and then play another part (lead guitar, for example) over the top of it. When you turn off the looper, you usually lose what was recorded, its not saved in memory. More expensive loopers will allow you to record and save tracks (or even download them from a computer) and record longer loops - these typically go for $300 and more. The FBV, while having some MIDI capability, is a difficult way to control recording software - handy if you are performing when you want to start/stop/change things using a foot pedal, but that's about it. You've got to go into the MIDI settings of the FBV and the software to set it up. If you are trying to set up your daughter for recording songs (not just looping for live 'practice'), it would be better and easier to do it with an audio interface (or USB mixer which some have suggested, however mixers have limits) and recording software (Audacity is free, but limited, many audio interfaces come with a limited edition DAW - recording software).
  8. Have you tried a factory reset? Hold the 'A' button in as you turn on the amp.
  9. No audio clip attached. Assume you are using PodFarm as a 'stand alone' (not a plug in in a DAW)?
  10. Tape is your 'easy' answer! You could try pulling the amp apart to see if there's anything to tighten up, but it's hardly worth the bother - you can pick one of these up for less than $50..
  11. You mic will not have enough signal for this. You'd need to run the mic into some kind of preamp first.
  12. Podfarm is software, so cannot be selected as an 'audio device'. If you're running the stand-alone model (you have to pay to have the plug-in), then you have to select Podfarm as the input in your DAW (or other) software, and the ASIO drivers would be those for that software. Hope this helps.
  13. Is this a new amp? If so, bring it back for exchange (field service not possible/worth it). Never heard of this problem before.
  14. If the factory reset doesn't help, return it for replacement/fix.
  15. HI, just a little confused here! The CD/MP3 jack is an input TO the amp, not an output. If you are trying to DI the sound, you have to use the headphone/DI output to your Scarlett interface. Plug your headphones into the Scarlett to monitor. Latency would come from the software and drivers you are using - I don't think Windows Sound Recorder lets you access the buffer settings, try Audacity, Reaper or another real DAW.
  16. You need to set the input of your DAW (you didn't say what software you are using to record) to PodFarm.
  17. If you have Reaper, you should know that there are already a boatload of VST plugins supplied with it, including all those mentioned by Gary above. There's the 'Ozzifier' plug in that adds 1 or more slightly chorused/delayed layers. You can use ReaPitch to add harmony parts (but they tend to sound fake). I've used a couple of presets in PodFarm when I want a 'way out there' sound, typically involves delay, chorus and some EQ.
  18. HI, are saying that when you have guitar> distortion pedal > UX2 > computer you are still getting only clean sound? How are you monitoring - headphones or speakers plugged into the UX2?
  19. Faulty products are delivered by manufacturers all the time. You'd quickly get yourself in a 'one brand only' hole if you let it bother you. Most times, the fault is not readily apparent until hours/days/weeks after it's started to be used by the consumer.
  20. First, try adjusting the tone - different patches, or raising the treble level. You should be able to get them on any amp, but they could be muffled depending on the tone settings.
  21. First thing to do is check with another CAT5 cable. You can also look at the pins of the connectors - both on the cable, and in the pedal and amp jacks. Have you tried hooking the pedal up to you computer with a USB cable? If it works that way, then the CAT5 is to blame, if not then there could be something wrong with the pedal itself. If its under warranty, you can have it replaced, but otherwise it would be cheaper to buy a used one than to try to get it repaired.
  22. Jcook - what problems (behaviors) are you having? The standard way of using the two volume controls is to set the master volume around 25% (to start) then adjust the channel volume in each patch to be similar as you change patches. Then if you need more volume overall, you use the master volume. For live playing, I would typically have a patch in each bank with the same tone settings as another patch, but with a higher channel volume so I could switch to that for a lead part. Note that the amp has a maximum volume it can achieve - this is a combination of the 2 volume controls. If you have the channel volume at 100%, then when you adjust the master volume there will be a point where turning it further does not increase the volume any more. If you bought a car and couldn't figure out how to adjust the radio and cruise control settings would you sell it? Or try to learn how to use it correctly? Thousands of people have been using the Spider amps for years for studio and live work.
  23. Channel volume is part of the patch settings - when you save a patch, it is with whatever the channel volume is set at the time.
  24. Is it possibly compression kicking up the volume when there is no signal?
