  1. Have you tried a factory reset? Note that you should save your custom user patches (using an FBV MkII, a computer and Spider Edit) before doing this as all the user locaitons will reset.
  2. All current models Spiders are IVs - which model do you mean? Not sure at all what you mean by 'extra amp'!
  3. Your sound card is part of a gamer motherboard, what you need to use is an audio interface made for audio recording/reproduction. It will have dedicated ASIO drivers that can be set (buffer settings) to reduce the latency.
  4. See the next thread in this section of the form - you'd have to drop the amp chassis out of hte cabinet to access the top surface of the cabinet. Unless appearance is mandatory, I'd recommend getting an aftermarket handle (or two!) that you can just attach by screwing into the top wood of the cabinet.
  5. So you ar esaying the mic sound (with no effects) doesn't sound good - can you post a sound file for us to hear?
  6. So the amp sounds fine when you use it without the FBV MkII? Have you tried connecting the FBV to your computer wiht a USB cable and reflashing the memory using Monkey?
  7. Start with no FX - just your vocals into the mic. Are you recording or trying to use this for live use? What's the Spider being used for - are you plugging the ouput of the UX2 into it for monitoring? Are you using the MP3/CD input on the back for this or the guitar input on the front?
  8. I suggest you experiment with the Spider's delay settings first, you may find the sounds you are looking for without buying an external delay pedal.
  9. I'm afraid the previous user doesn't know what he's talking about regarding 'different impedance'. If it is a physical problem with the unit itself, then L6 is going to advise bringing it to an authorized service center or returning it to them for evaluation - and as you bought it used, this will not be under warranty.
  10. You need to save the sound you want to a preset location, then save the next sound to another preset locaiton, etc.
  11. Try the Spider Advanced Guide (it's for the 75, but some stuff applies) here: http://line6.com/support/manuals/spideriv75
  12. Other than the display, are there any problems with the amp? If not, it may just be the display that needs to be replaced. If the amp is still under warranty, bring it to a factory-authorized service center for evaluation/repair.
  13. Which Spider amp do you have? If you mean restore the user patch locaitons to what they were when the amp came new form the facotry, you don't need the shortboard, just do a factory reset (hold the A button in while turning on the power).
  14. Yes, but the amp only provides audio ouput (from the DI/headphone ouput jack). You would use this stereo audio output into an appropriate audio interface (Line 6 UX2, for example). You could try adapting to the line-in of your computer, but typically the OEM sound cards in computers are not suitable for audio recording/reproduction.
  15. You need to adjust the channel volume to what you want, then save it to that preset location. When you move (any) knob on the amp, that 'wakes up' the control and that parameter will change to whatever the knob is set for.
  16. It sounds like you are in the FBV volume pedal settings, not the channel volume, which is what needs to be adjusted and saved.
  17. You'll have to be more specific to receive any further assistance. Do you have Spider Edit downloaded and installed? Does it 'see' your amp when plugged in through your FBV and USB?
  18. Make sure you have the correct drivers installed for the UX2. I don't know PT, but in most DAWs you have to set the preferences to show both/all possible inputs, sounds to me like you have PT set to only recognize one input.
  19. Monkey will have this problem if there is any firewall or antivirus software running (WIndows typically has this running in the background). Please be more specifi on your exact issues and relay any error messages you are getting so you can be assisted.
  20. Spider Edit is the correct software to use. Using it, you just 'drag and drop' from your folder to the User Patch location in the Spider.
  21. I remember reading somewhere that Audacity is not compatible with ASIO. When you say with Reaper (and Sonar 8) you see waveforms, but it 'won't write to disc', you mean that although you have Reaper set to record, nothing records so that on playback, the waveform disappears or you just can't hear it? If you save the (recorded) track, close it out, then reopen, is the waveform there? How are you monitoring - is the UX1 selected as your audio output device?
  22. The fact that the sound cuts off when the volume drops and at a lower volume won't record anything tells me you've got a noisegate activated with the 'activate' volume setting too high.
  23. Try the Spider user manual, unfortunately, L6 has not published much in the way of manuals for the FBVs.
  24. You have to be careful not to overdrive the input of your amp - if you are plugging into the normal guitar input, it is expecting an instrument level signal, your Toneport will be giving it a line out signal - different impedance and strength.
