To get back to the topic, I bought a refurbished 89F from L6 through eBay. It did not have a new warranty... it was either 30 or 90 days (my memory isn't what it used to be), The guitar is terrific. There were a few light pick scratches on the top, but other than that it was as new. All the models sound great and there was no plink whatsoever, which was a relief because my 59 had a bad case of plinkitis.

Agreed. He is the master.

Glenn... that is perfect! I used your 1959 Marshall preset for this. 3 guitar tracks. Epiphone Les Paul with a new DiMarzio Super 2 bridge pivkup. I am new to DAWs. I put some Phaser from within Studio One on the tracks. I can't figure out how to shut the effects now! Guess I'm a cheater. https://soundcloud.com/rocco-crocco/nobodys-fault

This an interesting tone, very effects heavy and sounds like multiple guitar layers. I will get to work but I bet there are others here who can get much closer. In the off chance there are any takers, post up your attempts! Just the beginning guitar riff. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJeGrLJ6dOI

The JTV Spank models do not suck
Rocco_Crocco replied to JTSC777's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
The Spank model on my 89 is awesome. The Spank on my 59.... not so much. Not very Stratty. -
I ordered and received this, and it is a great item. I especially like the clips on the connectors. Thanks for the tip!

I agree. The Drop pedal sounds much better than detuning internally with Helix.

Best method of setting patches levels to the same volume??
Rocco_Crocco replied to JLEpperson's topic in Helix
I only used the top two meters. -
L6 could make a whole array of vocal specific effects for the Helix if they wanted to. Would probably easily compete with the VoiceLive. I would imagine Line 6 will "dance with who brought them", and stick with guitars.

Just set this up on my Windows laptop. Seems to work great! -
How would you guys go about replicating this tone?

Sounds great. Very close. I'm going to try it. I always liked the unique guitar tone on that song and just wanted to see if the Helix could do it. I am really not much for nailing an exact sound for my bar cover band, as long as it sounds good, it doesn't need to be exact. In this case, however, I thought it would be a fun challenge to try to replicate this sound. -

Based on your post, I tried running the champ into a Soldano and actually got much closer than I had before. I had a hard time getting the gain down enough so that it wouldn't be over-saturated without losing the hair. But pretty close. -
I am speaking about the opening guitar part. I can't get close on my own. Tried Soldano and a couple Fender models with various distortions, but there is an aspect of this sound I can't get. Can't describe it. Does it sound like a humbucker in the bridge position? Any advice? Care to try it yourselves? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQHtqUo3PzA

Very nice!! What guitar are you using?

I am really a newb regarding recording software. I bought Studio One last year but never even really got around to trying it until tonight. I surprised myself at how quickly I was able to put this together. It took less than two hours. I have been on Robin Trower kick for like 6 months, so I decided to record "Day of the Eagle". I got the backing track from YouTube (user Guitar Jam Tracks). All guitars are me, the backing track is just bass and drums. I didn't play the slower ending part, because this was an exercise in using the recording software. I didn't want to spend too much time trying to nail the end. Guitar Line 6 JTV89F Variax on Spank (Strat) setting. Modeler Line 6 Helix with Glenn DuLaune's Robin Trower preset. I replaced his cab block with a 3 Sigma 1960v 3b IR. https://soundcloud.com/rocco-crocco/day-of-the-eagle

The cable that connects the foot controller to the amp is an unwieldy beast. Trying to wrap it up neatly doesn't work. Does anyone know of a cable that has a jacket more like a good guitar cable?

Any acoustic amps in any update? Or acoustic options?
Rocco_Crocco replied to watch4king's topic in Helix
brueski... try this Variax acoustic preset from CustomeTone. It is the best I've heard yet. There's like 8 EQ blocks! LOL. http://line6.com/customtone/tone/1283667/ -
If you use the ignore feature, the terrorists have won. :)
