  1. Thank you! That sounds like some great advice, Glenn. I am going to give this a try. ðŸ‘
  2. I am afraid I have no answer to your first 2 questions. I don't get involved with the PA... the other guitarist does that on his own. My boosts are set for multiple parameters.... usually an EQ block with a 3 dB boost, and more delay. Sometimes I just boost the output block by 3 dB instead of using an eq block. Rarely do I have a patch where the gain is increased, too. I don't remember the specifics of these particular patches in question, however, other than there is a 3 db boost and the high cuts are set at 7k.
  3. Helix direct to PA. Walking in front of the mains showed that I was washed out. I monitor myself through a Alto 212 FRFR speaker, with a mains mix of the band into channel one and my Helix alone in channel 2 so I can turn that up a little louder to hear myself. In general my sound through the mains and my Alto is great... it just disappears at high gain soloing.
  4. I am having issues. My band played a gig last night and I was having a difficult time hearing myself in the mix of our hi gain tunes, especially during solos.. A short walk onto the dance floor in front of the mains was not helpful.... I still could not hear myself. This is a frequent occurrence at gigs. It's important to point out we do our own sound. I am competing with a second guitarist and loud cymbals, and last night during my (footswitch boosted) leads on the first few metal tunes of set number three I had completely vanished in the mix. I decided to turn the big knob on the Helix to try to get more volume, and my sound just turned into a loud, hissy mess. I have 2 high gain patches I use, and the speaker block High cuts are set at 7k. I also turn on my Global EQ when playing loud to reduce even more highs and some lows. It is difficult for me to make meaningful adjustments at rehearsal because we practice at a pretty low volume, so any changes made there will be nullified once the volumes come up. Which is why I am posting this issue here. I was thinking of reducing the speaker block high cuts even more... maybe dropping it to 4 or 5K when I click on a solo boost switch... I am thinking that may get rid of some of the hiss and allow me to be a little louder without being to "messy". Does that sound like a solid plan? Anything else I can do?
  5. Some of the Axe tones I hear in oline clips are better than what I get out of the Helix. Call me a troll if you want but its true. Still love my Helix and will not be buying anything else until Helix support becomes abandoned... so many years from now. Also, the guitar that guy is using in the video is pretty great.
  6. post some of your patches and maybe a couple people can see if we are experiencing the same thing.
  7. Make sure you are using an instrument cable, and not a speaker cable.
  8. I generally cut at 7K and when playing with my band I turn on the global eq, with more low and hi cuts plus a 1 db boost at 2K. A good sound at home for me usually doesn't translate well with a good sound in a band scenario.
  9. I put mine between the amp and cab/IR.
  10. Mine has been fine for over a year, only very rare software glitches but other than that no problem.
  11. Instead of using the global eq to adjust for general fizziness, I hi cut at 7 hz for almost everything, using the cab/IR block. To my ears, harmonizers sound best between amp and cab blocks. To keep your tone consistent when using the volume pedal, place volume pedal blocks after cab blocks. It will keep the gain basically the same throughout the volume range.
  12. Try downloading again? PM me your email I and can send it to you directly if that doesn't work.
  13. Thanks, but they are not mine... some are stock, some are from here and some from VGuitar forum.
  14. Oops. I posted the correct link in the previous post. Here it is again. https://app.box.com/s/pk110uw0bq57dp0b2gpl3qdhfs3qcwnw
  15. Here is the bundle I have loaded into my JTV59. It is different models I have picked and chosen, and my formerlly plinky 59 is now fine. Here's the bundle. I would be interested to see if anyone else tries to use this bundle, and if it fixes their plink. EDIT -- Here's the correct link https://app.box.com/s/pk110uw0bq57dp0b2gpl3qdhfs3qcwnw
  16. I went to 9's on my 89f. I had to slightly tweak the truss rod and raise the action, and after at least 6 months i have had no issues.
  17. All presets turn on Variax modeling (with VDI). Helix firmware 2.20 Variax firmware is the latest. Unless I turn the modeling off and re-save, each preset turns on my Variax. Even on New Presets that are empty. Looks like I have to go through all 300+ of my presets and re-save with the model turned off. Pretty time-consuming. With both my JTV59 and 89F. Input set to Multi. Variax Setting : per preset Variax Model : Don't Force. If it is set to don't force, it should not be forcing. It shouldn't be like this. I am assuming it is a firmware issue since it happens on both my Variaxes. The only other possibility is a bad VDI cable, but that seems unlikely.

  19. The Park is my go-to Marshall sound.
  20. I dunno.... the Soldano for medium-hi gain applications is tough to beat IMHO. I think this weekend I am going to put together a preset to play ALL my cover bands songs, using just the two Solo models. That is all...
  21. The Drop should have a built-in EQ to put some sizzle back into the sound. That said, I love mine. I also think it sounds better than my Variax drop tunings.
