  1. http://proguitarshop.com/andyscorner/top-10-bassist-jokes 10. Did you hear about the bassist who was so out of tune his band noticed? 9. How can you tell the stage is level at a gig? The bassist drools outta both sides of their mouth. 8. what do you call it when two upright bassists playing in unison? A minor second. 7. Why couldn’t the bassist get through the front door? He couldn’t find the key and didn’t know when to come in! 6. A Bass Teacher is excited about getting a new, young student. The kid is comes in for his first lesson and learns all the notes on the E string. Next week he comes in and the instructor shows him all of the notes on the A string. The third week comes, the teacher is waiting, but the kid never shows up. Annoyed, he calls him to see where he is. The kid picks up and says, "Oh, sorry man, I got a gig..." 5. Why can’t bassists tell jokes -- Timing. 5. Did you hear about the drummer who locked his keys in his car? It took him four hours to get the bass player out. 4. How many bassists does it take to change a light bulb? Just one, but the guitarist has to show him how to do it first. 3. How many country-western bass players does it take to change a light bulb? 1 - 5 - 1 - 5 - 1 - 5 1. A man goes on a vacation to a tropical island. As soon as the plane lands, he gets off and hears drumming. At first, he thinks, “This is pretty coolâ€. He ends up going to a luau and hears the drumming. He eats lunch and hears the drums. He goes to the beach and hears the drums. He tries to sleep, but can’t because of the constant drumming. The drumming goes on for four days. The guy has to go down to the front desk because he can’t sleep. He asks the manager “What is the deal with these drums! Make them stop. I haven’t got any sleep this whole week!†The manager of the hotel says “No. Drums don’t stop. You don’t want the drums to stop, sir.†“Why?†“Because when drums stop… Bass solo begins!â€
  2. Interesting. I will try your offset settings. Thanks!
  3. This would be the final step to render the Helix self-aware. I am gonna go dig my bomb shelter. :P
  4. The decline of guitar has been obvious since the late 90s. The neighborhood where I grew up had one band or another rehearsing at somebody's house most nights per week. I can't even recall the last time I heard a band playing in my neighborhood. Video games, free music, removal of school music programs, 500 cable channels all contribute.
  5. Listen to how good the intro sounds, just with a plain old clean-ish guitar sound... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=59m6BoEVkng
  6. After reading this I experimented with high cut... I ended up reducing the high cut by about 3dB. For most of my presets, that put me in the 4.5K zone. If I went even lower, the sound lost some of its pizzazz. I also dropped the gain in my amp and distortion blocks. These 2 changes alone really made a nice difference. I think I have nice, useable classic rock tones. For clean sounds, I had to reduce the output block volume a few clicks. EMGs are loud! Lol.
  7. I want to start by saying I play in a bar band that plays a fairly diverse mix of classic rock and metal, and am generally a fan of the Duncan JB in the bridge of my guitars. My Helix presets are optimized for this pickup. The purpose for me starting this thread is to get practical ideas for altering my presets in a separate setlist, optimized for the pickups that are installed in a guitar I will most likely be acquiring today -- a sweet Iron Label Ibanez RG series. The guitar has EMG pickups -- 81/60 specifically. I know from owning these pickups years ago in another guitar, that they are a unique animal. I am not looking to make the guitar sound like my Les Paul with JBs. I just want the presets to sound good, and usable for my band's tunes. Any tips??
  8. Where did you buy it??... I know that places like guitar center, if they use your phone number to process sales, will have a record of the purchase and could probably print out another receipt for you.
  9. I know less than nothing about interfaces. Will my cheapo Presonus USB AudioBox work well with Helix Native?
  10. Cool! One of the first songs I learned on guitar. High 'n Dry is brilliant.
  11. Fremen, are the Valhallir IRs included with the add-on or to be purchased separately?
  12. maybe try this... it helps if the drummer has a heavy hand. https://www.recordingrevolution.com/the-glyn-johns-drum-recording-method/
  13. If I had a lefty kid who played guitar, I'd want him to learn righty. Too few choices for left handed guitars.
  14. Once I get the truss rod right, I just find the string-height spot where I start to hear some fret buzzing, then increase the height until its gone. Then I test the modeling with the piezos. I usually have to raise the height a little more to get the modeling to sound good, especially the acoustic. If the string height is higher than you want, and the truss rod is right, and you still have buzzing, than you need fret work.
  15. Last year I had an issue with my HD500x, and a rep from L6 stayed on the phone for 45 minutes with me until the issue was resolved.
  16. Snapshot assignments via touch similar to how STOMP mode works would be a big time saver.

    Tuner

My tuner seems much jumpier than that one.Maybe its because you are using heavier strings (i use 9's).
  18. I am sure this is an embarrassingly easy question for anyone with any sort of knowledge to answer, but to use something like Helix Native, would I just plug my guitar into the 1/4" input on my Presonus Audiobox interface?
