  1. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1618760245111752/ If you're on facebook, check out the above group. For your type of music, there is a lot of great info and very good free presets with free IR;s.
  2. If you're used to the "amp in the room", give your ears time to adjust to the "mic in the room" sound. I play live shows and there is very little chance I will ever go back to a real amp. What kind of music are you looking to play?
  3. I changed the body to neutral on a few plinky models in workbench... plink dissappeared. Then I loaded (fellow forumite) Fremen's Variax bundle, which uses all the factory bodies, and the plink did not come back. There was nothing radical about his other settings, either. The plink, along with the construction of the pyramids, is one of the worlds great mysteries.
  4. This is me realizing I have a gig tomorrow and really shouldn't try to update  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QaZ0L7aDx50
  5. Wow that is terrible. Maybe try a reset Turn off Helix. While holding footswitches 9 and 10 (middle two switches on the bottom row), turn on Helix. Wait for the message “Will reset Globals and restore stock Presets, Setlists and IRs…†to appear and let go.
  6. There's a post on another forum with step by step instructions and pucs. Just google "tech 21 power engine tweeter mod".
  7. That is one of the reasons i put my volume pedal after the speker/ir block for my higher gain patches.
  8. That demo is also illustrative of how different pickups sound through the Helix.... most demos use humbuckers, but he makes that Strat sing... and still sound very Stratty.
  9. I give you props. You're a dedicated dude to have been willing to buy a SHB guitar just for that section of the song. Sounds like you're on the right track, now, without having to spend the $$$$ on a new guitar. I am always up for an excuse to buy a new guitar, however
  10. I just tried the Matchstick Ch 2 with the Vermin distortion and my Les Paul bridge PU. I think you could make this work. Vermin gain -- 2 Filter -- 8.2 level -- 8.5 Matchstick ch2 ch3 drive -- 2 tone-4 cut -7 presence-6.2 master-10 sag-8 cab -- 4x10 rhino mic -- 57 dist -- 1" low cut -- 100 hi cut -- off everything else at zero.
  11. I have installed tweeters in my 2 PEs. It is a nice improvement but my Alto 112 FRFR sounds better. I think the open back design of the PE works against you when playing with amps models that typically use clised back cabs. This is just a theory.
  12. On each path's output block's volume, toggle between 0-100 on path A, and 100-0 on path B.
  13. Generally speaking... I know it could vary by patch. I either use an EQ or the output block. I was using 3dB, but in the past some audience members said it wasn't loud enough, so I set it up for 4dB on most of my patches. It sounded too loud to me in rehearsal but I am going with it for tonight's bar gig.
  14. Thanks for the replies. When I updated firmware the guitar was plugged into Helix via VDI cable. It makes sense that I should disconnect first, and maybe even disconnect the VDI when powering on the Helix. CBTL -- I am both glad and sorry others are experiencing this issue was well :D . Maybe L6 can fix these odd occurrences. L6 staff -- I would be happy to detail issues I experience with Variax/Helix integration going forward. Let me know if that would be helpful.
  15. Presence can be used to cut through a live band mix without increasing volume.
  16. Thanks for responding... they are set to "preset".
  17. OK, so in order to rid myself of the weirdness with the Variax->VDI->Helix, I updated to 2.12 hoping that would fix the problem. The original problem hasn't happened again yet, but some presets I had purchased turned my Variax models on, even though on the Helix input block, Variax Model is set to "don't force". It happened on about a dozen presets that all came from the same source. (I have used these presets for over a year, but only recently began using the VDI cable). It happened with my JTV89F and my JTV59. I was hoping to used the VDI cable to play live soon, but there are too many glitches. If I turned off the Variax model on the guitar and resaved the Helix patch, it fixed it. So the problem has been isolated to Bad VDI cable, or firmware glitch, or Helix hardware issue, or human error. Anyone else experience this?
  18. Everything was set to "don't force", so I don't think that was the issue.
  19. Helix v. 2.10 JTV 89F Last night at rehearsal while using the Variax into the Helix via the VDI cable, something strange happened. With a guitar model engaged on the Variax, if I would switch models, or change the position of the toggle switch, there was a major volume drop. If I moved the switch back the volume drop remained. All snapshots in the preset were effected. The only way to get back to normal volume was to re-select the patch. This happened on a couple different presets. I just unplugged the VDI and used a regular 1/4 cable for the rest of practice , figuring I would deal with it today. Everything worked fine with the 1/4" cable. Just now I tried to replicate the problem, but everything seems to be working normally. Anyone else have this issue?
  20. I bought a Firehawk 1500 to run my Helix through, but really the FH sounds so good on its own i haven't even tried yo connect the Helix.
