  1. It would be great to be able to rename IRs in the Helix editor... Right in their slots. I would just add the prefix 1, 2, 3 etc to correspond with the slot number in which each IR resides. Then it would be a breeze to relaod the IRs after any firmware updates. They would already be stored in numerical order on my laptop's hard drive. Easy peasy.
  2. For stage use wouldn't sound good enough without all the fuss if you just sent 1/4 " out of helix to the input of a clean amp? I haven't done it but I would imagine it would be very usable.
  3. Yes if authenticity is what you're after, it not an great fix. For me, playing with a band, much of the nuance of tone vanishes, especially at higher gain. I mostly need a humbucker sound (Lester or Custom with 89 PU settings) that I can change the tuning, so for me it works.
  4. I am keeping mine very simple lately. I don't even use reverb much anymore. Amp, IR, Eq and delay for solo boost only.
  5. Guys I started another thread about this, but I have completely eliminated the plink by changing to neutral body style in Workbench HD. I am loving my 59 again. If you still have the plink, try it. The worse that can happen is it doesn't work like it did for me.
  6. I got the case today. The JTV89 fits it snug, and it feels secure. The case is very lightweight. Thumbs up! *** I tried to post pics but I got a message stating that "this site does not allow this image extension". I tried posting from my Picasa webpage. I guess that's a no go
  7. I had already tried moving the mouse to a different USB. port. Same results. I will check into the video card driver. I run Chrome, but will try different browser to see if that helps.
  8. I am not sure about RAM and all that, but I can say I have been using this exact setup for several months, and it had only become an issue last week. I ran spybot and did an anti-virus scan and that didn't help. I am aware it could very well be an issue with my computer and not the Helix, but I wanted to see if anyone else has the same issue.
  9. I wanted to see if anyone else is experiencing this... When I plug my Helix into the USB port of my Windows 10 laptop to jam alomg with YouTube videos, my mouse becomes very unresponsive. It will move the cursor but very slow, and I have to click several times to open a video, hit play or pause, etc. This seems to be a recent issue for me. Maybe related to V2.0? The issue never occurred before. Any thoughts?
  10. I ordered an SKB-66. $130 from GC. The 89 supposedly fits well in this case. I'll report back when it gets delivered on Tuesday.
  11. This thread is complete insanity. WTF is a "serious" tuner???? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvB5dQHvRSc
  12. ^^^ I agree with you 100%. The Lester and Strat are the worse. My Tele was borderline, so I changed that to a neutral body as well. The '72 Tele with humbuckers was really bad on mine, too. Just as bad as the Lester. ** as a side note, I tried reducing the string volumes to 75% in Workbench as was suggested on the forum, but it didn't help the plinking at all.
  13. I am not taking credit for this... I think I read it on the forum here somewhere and finally just got around to trying it. I went into Workbench and changed all of my "plinky" models body styles to "neutral". Plink is gone. Zero point zero plink. For the Lester model, I had to change the preset volume to -6dB to get the volume to match the magnetic pickups, but all other models (all incarnations of strats and teles) I was able to keep a 0 dB preset volume.
  14. G&G's website doesn't load. It hasn't for the last several hours. Are they still in business?
  15. I just received my 89F, that I bought from Line 6 Direct through eBay. It was discounted as a factory second. Literally got it 10 minutes ago. A few observations... 1) There is absolutely NO PLINK AT ALL. The plink is missing on every model, in all of the tunings I tried. Hallelujah!! I would have already repackaged it for a return if this was not the case. I know on my 59, usually the plink is there but very slight, with occasions where it becomes so pronounced that it becomes unusable. In other words, the problems comes and goes. I will watch for that on this guitar. 2) The guitar is a factory second, the description on the eBay ad stated it was probably due to finish flaws. The only flaws I found were small finish scratches around the top, like someone was playing the crap out of it, then returned it. Other than that, the guitar is beauty. 3) The guitar is a 2013 model. That's pretty old, IMO. I would have preferred a newer guitar, but hey, it doesn't friggin' plink, so... I think I might have gotten a good one.
  16. I just tried to check out... the cheapest I could get the BTPA cable shipped for was $10 from USPS. Wasn't there a guy here on the forum who made and sold his own that featured a braided jacket? Or am I mis-remembering? EDIT.... I found the link for the braided cables. Looks like the guy is gone.... he stopped responding to PMs. http://line6.com/support/topic/958-cool-vdi-cable/

    Tuner

I am not a science guy, but more likely what appears as random jumpiness is probably the indicator (umm) indicating small changes in pitch. I'd imagine minute defects in strings, moving the guitar slightly, etc would all cause this.

    Tuner

The other tuners you mentioned are not capable of the fine tuning the Helix is.... that's why they don't fluctuate. On the Helix, get the indicator close to the middle of the fine tune bar and you're in tune. It is exactly as it is supposed to be. Fine tuning capability or indicator stability. Pick one because the physics of the guitar string says you can't have both.
  19. Actually, L6 just accepted my offer on a B stock 89F. I'll be so happy if there is no plink. Otherwise, I'll have to send it back. Fingers crossed!

The new tuner with the "fine tune" bar is awesome. L6 did a good job of improving upon the tuner which many complained about.
  21. Roscoe... have you considered getting a couple of these? Alto TS112... http://www.guitarcenter.com/Alto/TS112A-12-Active-2-Way-Speaker-1313248732495.gc I own one and got it on sale at GC for $199. I use it in conjunction with my Tech 21 Power Engine, and I have to say it sounds great. Not that is sounds great for $199, but it sounds great overall. Plenty loud to play with a heavy handed drummer and it has been reliable for well over a year.
  22. Thanks guys.... I went back to re-read our most infamous thread on the subject of plink, and it turns out the OP was complaining about his... you guessed it.... 89F. There's a B-stock directly from Line 6 on Reverb right now for $959 with a "make an offer" button if anyone is interested. I am sure they would accept a return, but I don't have much confidence that it will be right. Plus I have WAY too many guitars again LOL. It really is a shame so many of these guitars have this problem. My 59 is so well built, nice looking and easy to play. I play some chunky high gain stuff in e flat on occasion in my band, and I just can't use the modeling for this application due to the plink.
