  1. The SVT and the VT22 are two different amps, BTW.
  2. i dunno... try the ampeg stv bass amp model in the helix.
  3. XLR mono to FOH. Big knob at 12:00.
  4. I had an opportunity to finally use the Fremen presets at rehearsal last night. In addition to sounding great at home with just me playing, i can say the presets i used at rehearsal were eq'd perfectly to cut through the mix with the rest of the band. I could easily he heard without being overly loud. I didn't tweak anything either. Bone stock these presets are great.

    Oh Snap!

I really like NOT using the snapshots. For the songs my band plays, I really only need 3 sounds max... a clean, a gain, and a boosted gain for leads. I add effects to taste and I like having my 8 stomps set up on my switches. Does the next song need a different gain sound? I just go to a different preset. I can see it is a great feature to have, though, and I am glad L6 is constantly improving the Helix. Best $1500 I ever spent, although there was that one time in Vegas...

Huh... I am logged in now with my laptop.
  7. Just brainstorming, but when I first connected the Helix to my laptop, I connected it to a multi-port USB hub and Windows could not detect the Helix. I had to bypass the hub and plug the Helix straight into the computer. No worries after that.
  8. I leave the pad on because most of my guitars have hotter pickups, but even my guitar with PAF's sounds great through my presets with the pad on.
  9. Ahhh you're Canadian... now the $500 offer doesn't seem so attractive. I thought you were talking about US money. Congrats on the sale.

    Precious!!

    Wait... you don't? :P
  11. It takes a lot of practice play pinch harmonics consistently. Keep at it and eventually you'll be able to play them at will.
  12. I wrote Scotts settings down when I saw that video... I can actually contribute something lol. low freq -- 100hz low q -- 0.4 low gain -- -0.5 mid -- 405 midQ -- 1.2 mid gain -- -3.0 hi freq -- 2.0 hiQ -- 0.3 hi gain -- -0.5 low cut -- 63HZ hi cut -- 10K He adds the following EQ in the IR block: low cut -- 72hz Hi Cut -- 6.9K
  13. This is illustrative of just how differently this plink issue is manifesting itself. I tried changing the tone control resistance to 25k as well, but it had no effect. This was before changing to the neutral body, but there was no need to mess around with the tone resistance after that because the plink is gone, 100%.
  14. I don't think an FRFR sounds better than a guitar cab. Just more versatile. The obvious example is an acoustic guitar tone. It will work better with an FRFR. What about getting your 4x12 closed back to resemble an open back Fender cab? It won't do it was well as an FRFR.
  15. WickedFinger, what's with all the concern about people's speaker preference? I use an FRFR because I like how my Helix sounds through it, and I'd rather not lug aound a 4x12 cab. I don't care about science, because my imperfect ears, and those of the audience, are my primary concern. Why am I even bothering responding to this lol.
  16. I am beginning to think that quality IRs affect the sound of patches as much or more than the actual amp models.
  17. ^^^ Glad you like the case. I am still happy with mine. You gave a great description and thanks for posting pics. They are illustrative of how the guitar doesn't look like it fits quite right, but in fact is held very securely. It feels like good case for general use, throwing it in the car for rehearsal and gigs, etc, but I wouldn't trust it with a baggage handler at the airport.
  18. I am putting this in the Helix section because the info these guys discuss is easily applied to my patch building in the Helix, and probably other units as well. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnUXq8mGmoHt0e6ItuTs10w I never really messed around too much with pedals. Boss DS-1 and a compressor were the only pedals I have ever owned. My lack of experience with delays, fuzz, EQ, wah, etc really held me back when I got my HD500X a couple years ago. I got better through trail and error, but still was at the novice level. These guys are brilliant. I have watched most episodes over the last 2 months and I am hooked. For example, I never liked fuzz AT ALL. After watching their fuzz video, I applied what they discussed to the Helix and now I have a fuzz patch that I actually use in my cover band. I never would have even tried fuzz without these guys. Anyway, check them out if you're so inclined.
  19. This is what forum member pianoguyy suggested on the POD subforum. I have adopted this technique and it works great. "I plug in an mp3 player because the master volume does not control its volume. Then I try to match the guitar volume to what is playing. I always use the same song and same patch. I think it helps in patch creation too. To always have that one baseline volume. "
  20. Meh... I am at 2.0. I am going to wait for the next big update as I don't have any noticeable bugs at the moment.
  21. Thanks! I finally got around to applying this process to Chrome earlier this week, and it worked!
  22. You could try to sell it yourself for $800. I don't think you would get that much... for a little more than $100 more I could get one brand new shipped from Sweetwater. You could try to put it on Reverb for $800. You'll have to pay to ship it. You could end up getting a crappy buyer (if any at all at that price) who can decide to screw you over and return it after a month (paypal will side with him). Craigslist? It will sit for months at $800 like all the JTVs on my local CL. Ebay? Seller fees out the wazzu. A $500 offer on a trade is nothing to get furious over. They have to make their profit, too. I hope I don't come across like a Debbie Downer. Just trying to be realistic. Good luck with your sale.
  23. How much did you think they would offer you? They have to make a profit when they go to sell it. $500 for a trade in actually sounds like a decent deal.
