  1. No, not unless you leave the checkboxes for your setlists checked. That is why you want to be careful to uncheck everything but the global settings before you trigger the restore(last step in the restore process). Always a good idea to take a precautionary backup first just in case though. Don't use the new backup for the restore though as it will have your current global settings instead of your old ones.
  2. You can use HX Edit. Use 'File' --> 'Restore From Backup' on the menu and select your old backup. Then uncheck everything(unless you want something else restored) with the exception of the global settings.
  3. Take a look at the 'Bypass/Controller Assign' tab in HX Edit and I am sure you will find that you have both the volume and wah blocks assigned to the same expression pedal. You need to change those assignments or just make sure the volume block is bypassed when you switch on the wah block. At least that is the way it works on the Helix, don't own a Stomp.
  4. By "FireWire" I assume you meant you upgraded to the latest "firmware". This will reset the global settings to their defaults. My guess would be something in your global settings has changed, perhaps output levels. With that said importing someone else's presets also usually involves some tweaking to get levels, EQ, and other details of the preset's settings working ideally with your rig, even if you haven't changed any of your global settings.
  5. That is the crux of the biscuit; does this approach give any substantial benefit? Using what is currently available on the Helix one way to employ a noise gate when you are using pedals in a loop is to assign the same footswitch used to engage the loop to a noise gate placed right after the loop(or before I suppose if you prefer). That way that gate remains bypassed unless the loop is engaged. Doing this at least gives you a method to specifically target noise from the pedals within the loop with a gate with an appropriately set threshold, the gate active only when the loop is active, even if it is not using the pre-loop signal/noise levels to clamp down after the loop as the 'AMT Incinerator NG-1' does.

You appear to be correct sir, despite some of the somewhat murky/dated posts on the subject upon further research it looks like the Helix, LT, and HX Effects don't appear to have true balanced 1/4 outputs(only impedance balanced) but the HX Stomp and Pod Go do. They are kind of an exception to the rest of the HX line in this respect. Perhaps because they came later. Apologies for any confusion my previous post may have introduced although it does still apply to the Helix, LT, and HX Effects. Don't know why the HX Stomp/'Pod Go' are different in this respect but if I owned one I certainly wouldn't have any complaints about this improvement to their I/O's design. They even print "BAL/UNBAL" on the HX Stomp and Pod Go's back panel. Here is another thread on the subject.
  7. Most of the time you can use a 1/4 TS cable as rd2rk mentioned unless you have a long run or are picking up noise via the cable. In that case or even by default I would probably use a TRS XLR cable. As you probably noticed though from my previous post, in the event that all you have laying around is a TRS 1/4 cable and due to your setup or for some other reason you prefer that type of connection, a TRS 1/4 cable may also offer some additional noise reduction although it is not a true balanced connection as you would get using the TRS XLR cable.
  8. What were the results from testing the guitar using different input impedance values? I might try testing the input pad as well with this guitar just for grins.
  9. You said that your guitar amp is responding noticeably different to your pickups than the Helix. Is this happening on every preset? You also mentioned it does not happen with another guitar. It might be worth checking if the first block (or first active block depending on your global setting) in your preset(s) is setting an impedance that is not working well with that guitar's pickups. You could also try changing the input impedance manually to see if there is one that appears to work better. If not, that is probably not the issue.
  10. The behavior you are seeing with this may also be associated with how the preset and its snapshots is interacting with the global setting --> 'EXP Pedals' --> 'EXP 2(*) Pedal Position'. If you set up your preset as you described above but also add these two steps I believe it will behave the way you expect. Set the global setting --> 'EXP Pedals' --> 'EXP 2 Pedal Position' = "Per Snapshot". (If your volume block is not on EXP 2 then modify this instruction accordingly.) In snapshot #1 make sure you save the 'Position' parameter in the volume block on Path 1 to 100% and at 0% for the volume block in Path 2 and save. Do the opposite for snapshot #2. Also for snapshot #1 make sure the volume block on Path 1 is active and the volume block on Path 2 is bypassed (and save). Do the opposite for snapshot #2. As rd2rk indicated though there is more than one method available to accomplish your goal. For example, the method I just detailed would not be the best option for someone like me who prefers their global setting --> 'EXP Pedals' --> 'EXP 2 Pedal Position' = "Global". Btw, just to offer yet another option I think you could set up your route(s)/blocks such that the signal from both the Guitar and Aux inputs were both assigned to the expression pedal at the same time. Then reverse the min/max values on one such that toe-down for example would raise the volume on the passive pups while simultaneously lowering it on the piezo, with toe-up doing the reverse. This approach would allow you to use the expression pedal to dynamically change the mix/volume of the magnetic and piezo pickups.

    I agree with the comments here about a single cabinet like the PC212, never providing the degree of stereo separation/spread or flexibility of use that two cabs will. It is a physical impossibility. With stereo cabs in a single cabinet it is all about maintaining relatively close proximity to the cabinet(or having them mic'ed/sent and panned at the PA). The stereo effect is going to tend to drop off dramatically as you move further away from these cabinets. However, in a relatively small space like the room you described you should be able to sit/stand close enough to for example a PC212 to maintain some decent degree of stereo separation, just don't expect it to be as expansive as two single cabs. I guess what makes no sense to me is expecting for example an audience to hear a pronounced stereo effect through a single stereo cabinet; it is better suited to your personal monitoring(if you are close enough). In a live situation the stereo effect rapidly becomes more and more negligible the further away the audience is standing unless the PA is in stereo and stereo PAs can be a whole other can of worms. So to me the best reasons for using a PC212 live is that if you run a stereo PA and don't feel like hauling two PC112's, using it as a monitor gives you a better idea of what the audience is hearing. Or, in the case of a mono PA maybe I guess if you just really love that sound onstage and it helps you play better even if the audience isn't hearing stereo. For a home player though sitting close enough, as rd2rk describes, the separation can be perfectly adequate.
  12. The Pitch Wham, or Poly Wham are solid choices as a start. The options are limitless though. Essentially you can assign practically any of a wide variety of effects' parameters you want to the expression pedal. Some of the many available choices are the time/division from a delay block, interval on pitch block, level of drive on a distortion block, change EQ/cut while increasing the drive, pan volume from left to right, etc. . You can assign one parameter from two different effects with one going up while the other goes down(reverse min/max values). The video below may help get you started and give you some ideas. Cliché but the only real limit is your imagination.

  14. To the OP deo33. I think I understand what feature you are asking for now by looking at your other topic pointed to by waymda. A perfectly reasonable request but one that again, as cruisinon2 stated, definitely belongs in Ideascale. The same applies to your other request for "Seymour Duncan Powerstage" which you also posted twice in two identically named topics("Power Amp") . It is easier for other people on the forum to help you if you open only one topic for a specific issue and keep posting there. And not to be redundant but again, feature requests have a better chance of making it into the firmware if you submit them to Ideascale. Don't know if you are aware of it but as I stated above you have been opening multiple topics on the same issue. In the case of the "Editor Layout" topics, both topics allude to the same issue with only fragmentary information. This causes people trying to assist you to have to be detectives to piece it all together. Much simpler if you keep it all in one place. As you may perhaps already be familiar with, the 'Bypass/Controller Assign' tab in HX Edit provides a helpful place to at least view and edit footswitch assignments. However it does not allow you to activate/bypass the footswitch as your idea proposes. Good luck with your idea, I can see it being useful, particularly with multiple block assignments to the same footswitch. Also, if you are not using them snapshots can accomplish the same thing in many situations and can be easily switched to from the editor.
  15. You may also want to experiment with the various settings for Global settings --> 'Footswitches' --> 'Preset Mode Switches'. When you download other people's presets from CustomTone, for example, they may have had their snapshots on the top row and stomp assignments on the bottom row or vice versa, or their preset may only have snapshots, etc.. This may be different from your default settings. Depending on your global setting for 'Preset Mode Switches' this can affect how they will show up on your Helix. Frequently you will need to redo the preset's stomp assignments to get things looking/operating the way you want on your device. You can use the 'Bypass/Controller Assign' tab in HX Edit to quickly reassign your blocks to work with your defaults.
  16. Backups hopefully? Next I would uninstall HX Edit and download and install HX Edit 3.0.1 again. You can then try some of the global reset options here https://helixhelp.com/tips-and-guides/universal/reset-options. With luck that will get you back in business and you can try the firmware upgrade through HX Edit again if necessary. If that fails download the Line6 Updater and use that to finish the firmware update.
  17. The editor already includes the ability to manipulate every one of the switches(not "buttons") you listed. Assume you are referring to the Helix or LT as you did not mention which HX device you are using. Agree with cruisinon2, you need to include much more detail in your request to clarify it and post it in the correct spot - IdeaScale. Is it possible you don't have your version of HX Edit(latest is 3.0.1) matched up to your firmware version? In HX Edit go to 'Help' --> 'About HX Edit' and make sure it is showing a firmware version that matches your HX Edit version.
  18. If you downloaded the latest current version of HX Edit(3.0.1) then down in the bar at the bottom of HX Edit you should see a prompt for the latest 3.0.2 version of the firmware. If you don't you can go to the top menu bar and select 'Help' --> 'Check For Updates'. If neither of these approaches work then I would consider backing up, running a global reset and trying again. You might also try uninstalling HX Edit and reinstalling HX Edit 3.0.1 again and see if the proper firmware update shows up in HX Edit. If all else fails you can download the Line6 Updater and update your firmware manually. Update: Reread your topic title and it appears you have the HX Effects. Have edited my post accordingly.
  19. You are right about it not being intuitive. The two-switch touch for swap does continue to work, even with that setting off, although the copy does not. The 'Stomp Select' nomenclature isn't really that descriptive either. I think it is a legacy setting that originally only controlled whether or not touching a capacitance enabled footswitch would switch the focus to the assigned block and with one of the firmware updates also allowed the assignments for two blocks to be swapped. When snapshots were eventually added to the firmware, additional snapshot swapping/copying functionality got collapsed into that setting. I guess adding an additional global setting or additional choices to the existing one ultimately would make the most sense as the expectation for many users when 'Stomp Select' = "Off" is that no functions of any kind will be invoked with a touch. I have seen similar posts from HX Stomp users confused about the 'Stomp Select' setting's modes of operation. Although its operation could(should?) probably be blown out into two or more global settings or additional choices available for 'Stomp Select' I can also understand Line6's inclination to resist global setting bloat. In the meantime thanks for your post helping to lend some clarity to how this setting currently operates, at least on the Helix.
  20. The video's author's(Alberto Martinez Del Rio) recommendation. "The old Morse Tone trick ... You'll need a guitar with the Gibson Les Paul type control setup. Just turn the volume down on one of the knobs and voila ... You got it!" Not sure what blocks to recommend. Maybe a hard gate and a nice bright tone with a little grit. Might not need the gate with the technique used in the video. I think you could probably work something up with the "3 Note Generator" and a momentary switch assignment also.
  21. Do you have global settings 'Footswitches' --> 'Stomp Select' = "Touch"? Touching and holding(NOT pressing) two snapshot switches will offer to swap the snapshots whereas a two-switch touch and release will offer to copy from one to the other. Tip: If done shortly after the first, a second touch and release will offer to copy the snapshot in the opposite direction(e.g. SS2 --> SS1 instead of SS1-->SS2) .
  22. Once you learn how to employ snapshots make sure you set your delay's "Trails" parameter is on. This will provide spillover from one snapshot to the next.
  23. By any chance did you upgrade the firmware through HX Edit since the last time you unplugged the USB? If you did that you should have also downloaded and installed the matching version of HX Edit with all boxes checked to make sure you have the latest Windows drivers.
  24. They should be of equal sound quality. The Rack does have twice the DSP so the Stomp's number of blocks available to use will be halved and routing options will be more limited. You will have significantly fewer switching, and as you pointed out, I/O, options. The new Stomp XL is also out now as you are probably aware with more switches. It essentially has the same specs as the HX Stomp.
