@Codamedia I like the way the OP edited his topic title to say "(SOLVED)". That "Solved" feature was useful in the old browser.

I will be on the lookout for this behavior on new presets and report back if I run into it. It might be worth opening a support ticket with Line6 if for no other reason then to give them a heads up on this and maybe they can help resolve it.

Just in the way of throwing out other possibilities also be aware that anything past 50% mix on any of the reverbs/delays is actually going to be mixing in more of the delay or reverb signal and less of the direct signal. At 100% you are getting only delay/reverb and no direct signal. This can definitely make for a muffled sound. Also phase inversion can cause this although it sounds like you are getting this in multiple monitoring scenarios so it is an unlikely cause.

I have to agree with this although it does not really impact the way I play. If a traffic light turned green, I drove through and then got a traffic camera ticket anyway because the green light did not actually reflect when it was ok to go through the intersection I would not be happy (more fun with analogies).

Just checking, did you upgrade to the 2.6 version of HX Edit as well as upgrading the firmware? The easiest way to tell is look in HX Edit for the two new amp models and new effects like the treble booster. Upgrading both firmware and editor and then doing a backup, global reset, and then a restore seems to help some people as well. Good luck getting this resolved.

I found most of my indoor presets transferred pretty well to outdoor shows and required little to no modification. The main differences can be that you may need to crank the whole PA up a bit as you won't have the sound bouncing back at you off a rear wall as you do indoors. If you have a particularly bright preset this can be harsh on the folks in the front due to the increased volume so something to be aware of. Reverbs may be a little bit less noticeable and reverbs designed to emulate small spaces like a room may not sound as natural outdoors where a reverb designed for emulating a larger space is more in keeping. You may or may not find yourself wanting to use your global EQ. Be ready with at least a high and low cut on the global EQ or even a well placed mid-range boost which you can adjust to taste if you need it. If your PA is louder than usual your more distorted hotter presets with a lower signal to noise ratio may be a bit noisier now but hopefully you have Helix's noise gate dialed in to handle that. Just in general it is not a bad idea to start getting your mix by getting your vocal and even drums levels (especially if the drums are not miked as the band will need to match whatever volume your drummer plays at) and then set the rest of the instruments levels including your guitar(s) and Helix to match up. Depending on how big the space is be ready to crank your solos a bit more than usual if you want them to be heard further from the stage towards the back of the space in the cheap seats. One of the best things you can do is just to make sure you audition your presets at gig volumes or close to it so that you are sure they are not too harsh at full volume.

Agree it would be great to have a polyphonic harmonizer, synth, whammy, tuner etc. on the Helix. You are not generally going to get chords to track well or at all on an effect like a harmonizer for now on the Helix, it is monophonic. We need polyphonic processing to process chords which is hopefully coming to the Helix sometime in the future. There has been some promising discussion of late from Line6 regarding that but who knows what or when. They apparently have some recent hires experienced with polyphonic programming.

You are more likely to get an answer from someone at Line6 by posting on The Gear Page or by opening a support ticket. They rarely post on the forum these days. Ideascale is a good place to post or vote up feature requests.

Not that it should make any difference on the Helix itself unless you restored backups since upgrading to the 2.6 firmware wit an older version of the editor but just wanted to confirm that you upgraded to the 2.6 version of HX Edit as well as upgrading the firmware. It does sound like you may want to open up a ticket if this persists. Does it happen on newly created presets or only older ones? Also curious, does this only happen on stomp assignments, snapshots, or both? There is that new feature in HX Edit 2.6 that allows snapshot color selection (which does include an "Off" option) by right clicking the snapshot name. There is also an "Off" option for stomp assignment. I wonder if you were running an older version of HX Edit if it might not default to "Off" sometimes for a snapshot or stomp assignment on a preset that was created prior to the 2.6 upgrade. It might be informative to check the LED color assignment in the editor for snapshots or stomps when you see this issue pop up and see if the editor setting for the LED ring is set to "Off" like the footswitch. As stated though maybe you found a bug where "Auto Color" is not translating properly from all of the presets from a prior version of the firmware.

Not sure if this has anything to do with it, for all I know maybe you found a bug but the following has assisted a lot of users who were having unpredictable volume issues. You may find that you prefer your 'Global Settings' --> 'EXP Pedals' ---> 'EXP 2 Pedal Position' = "Global". The EXP 2 setting is the default for the volume block. This will allow the current position on your volume pedal to control the volume on all your presets that have a volume block. Lastly if no one else is reporting this problem it may be worth making a backup, running the global reset and perhaps updating the firmware again and then restoring your backup.

I would recheck all my connections and swap out cables and guitar to make sure they are not the problem. Pull everything out and re-plug it. Start with the simplest connection setup you can, no 4CM or the like. Make sure the large black volume knob is cranked up at least halfway. There is definitely nothing muffled sounding in a properly functioning Helix or LT.

Ah, thanks very much for posting the graphic. The pulldown color selection from the snapshots menu is indeed new (and awesome!). You have only been able to edit the ring colors of the stomp assignments in prior versions of HX Edit. Now you can also edit snapshot colors from the editor, and thanks to the OP for pointing it out. Btw, for anyone looking for it you can also change snapshot colors from the Helix directly by clicking the large black 'Preset' button at the top left of the Helix, then click the 'Rename Snapshot' controller. This will present you with and allow you to change the 'LED Color' controller for the snapshot as well as rename it if you wish.

The addition of a treble booster is fantastic!

I am on the 2.6 firmware as well and the "Dim/Bright" option is working properly as it has in the past. You may want to try a proper backup and global reset or just reapplying the firmware, maybe both. If that doesn't work I would open a support ticket as you may have a hardware or firmware issue Line6 can help with.

I'm on 2.60 firmware on the Helix and I am getting sporadic "Timeout..." error dialog boxes when trying to save with the 2.6 editor. I have never seen these prior to this version of the editor. Anyone else getting these errors?
-
Agreed this is a great feature but it has been in the editor for many versions now prior to 2.6, at least for the Helix. Are you referring to the 'HX Effects' now having this capablity?

The login retention on the forum is still broken, at least for me, and the "Sign In" button doesn't seem to work properly at all. I constantly have to back out, often several levels from the Helix forum and then come back in for it to log me back in and even that doesn't work consistently. Makes checking out the posts on the forum a real drag. Can we get this fixed already?
-
This is definitely a bug. The "Don't Force" option as has been pointed out exists in HX Edit but not on the Helix. Selecting the "Don't Force" option in HX Edit leaves the Helix on the "Custom ..." option. Yep, a bug that needs fixin'. "Bug Whack A Mole", everybody's least favorite game. For now at least I'm not going to create any Variax presets with "Don't Force" as the Helix will recall them as a Variax "Custom ..." model. Also I notice that clicking the controller knob down does not reset the model to the value at the far left(which used to be "Don't Force") as it does with other controller knobs; instead it retains the currently selected model. So that piece of functionality is broken as well. Probably part of the same bug.

Thanks for testing this. I wonder if there are any differences in the MIDI behavior between maybe particular presets upgraded from a former firmware, and setting up the MIDI commands from scratch in a new preset on the 2.60 firmware. Also I hope people reporting this are familiar with the differences between the behavior for global snapshot settings "Recall" and "Discard". If you don't get the snapshots saved properly to begin with you are obviously much more prone to get wonky results when you test your snaphsot's MIDI output.

There are D/A and A/D convertors so we know there is at least a bit of digital to analog and vice versa if for no other purpose then to convert the input and output. Anything else analog?
-
This sounds like normal behavior. At least with the Helix the first time you press save it indicates the location to be saved to and gives you an opportunity to change the location if you want. It is the second press that actually does the save.

Much like the prior firmware version the installation notes that come up when you run the Updater for the 2.60 firmware indicate that you should take a backup with the latest editor, in this case HX Edit 2.60. So... as I did last time, not only did I take a backup with my old version of HX Exit but I also exited the Updater after I saw this instruction and before updating and backed up my Helix with HX Edit 2.60. I quit the editor and then used the Updater to update the 2.60 firmware.

There are a whole lot of videos and suggestions out on the web for how to resolve this. I would just pick one that doesn't have a chance of damaging or gluing yet more material into the jack. You should not have to open the case, there are methods that work great for fixing this, I know my amp tech used the method that uses a screw but I don't remember the specifics although he did describe his method to me once. Not a whole lot to it though, it is a pretty simple and direct approach. You just need the right size screw. Good luck!
