  1. For the record – since I only just noticed – but it's there since v3.10, i.e. since April 2021:
  2. @muahdib4's thread title says "DMC.Micro". However, there is now the new "DMC.Micro Pro" model. Also, when it comes to the functionality of the original Micro, the firmware version will make a major difference. After upgrading to v2, it was almost as if I had a new device. (Not unsimilar from upgrading the Stomp from v2.x to v3… :) And as I see, they have released a new update a few months ago: disasterareadesigns.com/dmc-beta
  3. True, it looks and feels very fragile. I'm always unplugging the USB cable when not in use.
  4. Definitely not. I'm using the Stomp with two MacBooks running El Capitan, one is the last pre-Unibody 2008 model, the other is the last pre-retina 2012 model. The latter does also boot Catalina. The major issue when connecting the Stomp is the USB cable. The Stomp – or the driver, respectively – is very picky about the cable quality. Out of about a dozen of long enough (as in: at least 1 m) cables that I have, only one works reliably. Some will drop the connection after some time, others won't connect at all. Shorter cables usually have less issues. Another issue can be the Helix Driver if you want to use other sample rates beside the Helix default 48 kHz. On El Capitan, I'm getting reliable results with v1.0.7; the newer drivers would also result in dropped connection. On Catalina however, the latest Intel compatible driver should work fine.
  5. Yeah! So the "cAuthorPane_mobile" snippet is now redundant, and anyone who's applied it should delete because it could potentially break other parts of the site and at the end of the day result in a major earthquake or an unexpected asteroid impact. You've been warned. Have you installed add0n.com/stylus.html? If so, click the Manage button > Write New Style button > paste the code > Applies to URL on domain: line6.com > Save button > Enable the style
  6. Speaking of which, this code kills it: .ui-dialog.ui-widget-content.modal_g10_notification-container { display: none !important; }
  7. I don't think I'll ever have any use for this, but as a long time KM user I definitely appreciate your effort. :)
  8. Correction: Perhaps it's not a good idea to block the ".ipsResponsive_showPhone" class as well. So this code should suffice: .cAuthorPane_mobile { display: none !important; }
  9. One of the reasons I've given up on Safari years ago. Just a few weeks ago I've switched from Firefox to Brave because there are no security updates for the El Capitan compatible Firefox anymore.
  10. To fix it for the time being before the line6.com webadmin does (don't hold your breath, haha): Install add0n.com/stylus.html Create a new style (Actions > Write new style) Paste the following code: .cAuthorPane_mobile, .ipsResponsive_showPhone { display: none !important; } Applies to > URL on the domain > line6.com Save Voilà. In other words, the CSS code for responsive layout is broken, and thus the browser displays both the desktop as well as the mobile user badge.
  11. Why not? It's not that I would have been able to play all those drum parts at the same time, of course. That's what multi-tracking is all about, even with such a primitive recording device like the Porta One was. But it's not difficult to recreate those sounds with Helix today while using the same perfomance techniques as I did 30 years ago. Then it's all a matter of EQ, compression, gating, a bunch of modulation effects, reverbs and the like. Be creative! Experiment! :)
  12. If he doesn't need that many unique effect blocks for each bass, it will work even within just one preset. For example, I'm playing an acoustic bass guitar and a stomp box (a self-build plank with a piezo pickup inside creating a bass drum sound) in parallel through the Stomp. Heck, I've already been using my Stomp as a 4-channel mixer, with two mics, an acoustic guitar and my acoustic bass guitar. It needs quite some fine tuning to set up properly, and the exact sequence of blocks matters, but it works. The Stomp is so flexible that often the user's creativity is the actual hurdle … :)
  13. Quite a few things are broken. For example, the "✓ Mark site read" button has never worked for me. I can only mark each individual forum as read, one by one.
  14. Line 6 should finally update the community backend: invisioncommunity.com/release-notes I haven't found out which exact version they are running here but it's a pretty old one. I'm also frequently contributing to forum.affinity.serif.com which uses the same community software while keeping it up to date. It runs waay, waay smoother than here, with no logouts whatsoever; I don't even remember the last time I had to log in on the Affinity forums.
  15. That's the first thing to turn off on any amp, but my brief impression was so far that's for some weird reason it's noisier than the Small Tweed or the Mandarin 80 that I'm using otherwise. (Les Paul with Seymour Duncan Jazz PUs)
  16. I use the Stomp both as a guitarist and as a bassist. With the electric bass, usually I go straight to FOH via a self-soldered TRS-to-XLR adapter, since the Stomp can act as a D.I. box just fine as long as the output is set to Instrument level. But I also use one of my bass amps as a stage monitor, feeding it via the Send output before the Amp+Cab block. Ditto with the acoustic bass, but in small venues I don't even bother with taking an amp with me and go straight into the desk; usually also being the sound guy myself anyway, haha. With the electric guitar, in one band I'm using an old small Yamaha PA box, with all amp modeling happening within the Stomp. With another band, I have my old Fender Blues DeLuxe in the room so I use the Stomp just for effects. Both methods work fine. Also, with the guitar I'm usually adding external footswitches (FS4/FS5) to have more options. And this is actually the Stomp's "killer feature": modularity! You can keep it all very compact, but you can always expand as needed. So for some guitar scenarios, I use a passive double footswitch as FS4/FS5. Other times I use a MIDI footswitch (DMC.micro) which has other benefits – but also adds complexity. Sometimes I may use both, and also add an expression pedal (DMC.micro makes it all possible!). Eventually though, you may find out that less is more… ;)
  17. Is that new? I got the discount on Native with the Stomp, plus there was an additional "general" 30% discount on all Line 6 software a few months later, ending up paying USD 70 in Nov 2020.
  18. Back in the days I was experimenting with similar stuff as shown in the videos above. This is from 1990: temp.loukash.com/songs/Bita_kytara_1990.m4a (all rights reserved, please contact suisa.ch if you'd like to cover it :) This is played entirely on my then new Yamaha MSG Custom (sold it two years later). Since I've used an octaver for the bass line, I likely may have used it for the kick drum as well. The snare was done with a similar technique as in the credit card video, but using a 15 cm thin aluminium ruler. The cymbal was a triangle (the instrument), loosely fixed so that it would float on the strings. Recorded on a Tascam Porta One. (Still around, still working! ;)
  19. Yosemite is quite likely not to work very well in many regards these days. If your MBP can run Sierra, upgrade to that. If it can run at least El Capitan, upgrade to that. I have two MBP I'm still using: MBP 2008 (the last "pre-Unibody" model) and MBP 2012 (the last "pre-Retina" model with a DVD drive). MBP 2008 can only run El Capitan. Since I'm syncing them regularly, the MBP 2012 also runs El Capitan as its main bootable partition, but I have partitions up to Catalina in case I need to do things that are not possible on El Capitan anymore. v3.15 runs well on El Capitan, incl. Helix Native, except for the built-in update mechanism. I had to update my Stomp while booting from the Sierra partition. But it would likely also work manually by using the Line 6 Updater app. Don't. On El Capitan, I have downgraded to v1.0.7 which works reliably. In general, on the line6.com/software search result page they always mention OS compatibility for each software version. If it doesn't explictly say "Yosemite", expect troubles, even though it sometimes may work (or not…). However, I somewhat suspect that the claimed Maverick/Yosemite/ElCapitan compatibility as listed on v1.1.0 driver entry is there in error.
  20. I have an Ampero Switch and it "just works", as it always did. Make sure that Global Settings > Preferences > EXP/FS Tip & Ring are assigned to FS4/FS5 with Normal polarity, and Global Settings > Footswitches > FS4/5 Functions are assigned to their corresponding Stomp number.
  21. Alright, so my theory seems to be confirmed: All partitions from Sierra up to Catalina were showing the update, and I could update the HX Stomp successfully. I guess the issue with El Capitan and below comes from some expired internet certificates at the system level. Such problems appear in other apps as well, and that's why many apps require SIerra or even High Sierra to work around that. The good news is that once everything's been updated, HX Edit 3.15 can still communicate with the Stomp (3.15) just fine on El Capitan.
  22. Same here. This is on El Capitan. Could be that while HX Edit still runs on El Capitan (yay!), there could be some issues. Which is likely why the release notes actually just mention MacOS Sierra or higher.
