  1. Thanks! That one actually caught my eye. But I would really like something thinner than that if possible. Acoustic tone of the guitar doesn't matter, as I will be using Variax all the time. Anyone know of a really thin, acoustic looking guitar?
  2. I know it seems silly for me to transplant JTV into an acoustic, but there are a lot more acoustic duo gigs where I live than full-band gigs. Full band gigs are Fri & Sat only. I've been full-time musician for 17 years now, and can't live on weekend pay only. And it really helps getting the acoustic gig if you're holding an acoustic guitar, even though to my ear a clean Strat sounds much nicer playing leads over an acoustic than another acoustic does.
  3. I've been thinking of doing a JTV transplant into a cheap acoustic guitar for my acoustic duo gigs. I'm trying to find one that is very thin and has decent upper fret access.
  4. When I adjusted mine, I played them against the same song (or better yet backing track) at a very low listening level. The low volume seems to help point out differences easier. It's an old mixing trick to find possible problems in a mix...listen at a very low level. And keep in mind the models 2.0 have very different comparitive levels to each other than in 1.9. These need to be adjusted differently.
  5. Sweet Dexter Tele! ;) I notice the bridge that is linked isn't the Ghost saddles one...they are a bit more expensive.
  6. It's a sickness! I'm glad to hear I'm not alone. With these Sweetwater scratch n' dent specials, yesterday I had to talk myself off the ledge from buying another one! I'm working on my first transplant. A beautiful flamed koa Strat with a Wilk/Ghost trem. I have a '89 that is a light 6.18 pounds, so that one I will keep as is. I figure I'll be doing another transplant after this one. I wish I had a good answer for your question. Unless you buy one at a rock bottom low price, you'll lose money reselling when something better comes along in how many years? So not a good investment, as compared to putting the money towards an old Gibson, which just keeps gaining value. Most any decent guitar will maintain or gain value as the years go by. Probably not these... So not a rational decision. And if I'm playing a gig where it's just bluesy soloing, I'll grab one of my Strats that tonewise is in a different league than the Variax. (nothing against the Variax, I've owned over 40 Strats, endlessly swapped pickups and necks to get to that level.) I have a large collection. Vintage, modern, I've got a bit of most everything. The real deal. But the JTVs get played lots and lots and lots. One is in the stand next to me. Just such a treat to go from acoustic to 12 string to Spank to Lester...DADGAD to drop C, at the twist of a knob. Just fun. In one group I play with, I have an octave down on the HD500 that covers some bass parts when we need it. I have a EVH ultra brown patch that uses the tone knob as a whammy...blows everybody away when they see that on a hardtail! I guess I don't know why I like these sooo much. Maybe you could tell me? :) Let me ask you, have you ever sold any of the remnant Line 6 guitars after you used their parts for the transplant?
  7. Sorry for your bad luck. I just picked up my fourth JTV! I love 'em. I did have to adjust the depth of the pots on one to get it to work right, and the ball of paper in the knob trick on another. But otherwise, they've been good.
  8. Did nothing is more like it.... How many JTV '69's have you played and how many '59's???
  9. What are you even talking about? Please inform me. You sound like an expert. So the modeled tones are different for a JTV '59 than '69??? Can I ask you how many JTV '69's have you played and how many '59's? How did the Spank setting compare on each guitar?
  10. You're implying that the banjo sustain would be different if played on JTV '59 as compared to a '69 because of the build of the guitar? They sound the same on both. As does the Spank. Single coil pickups have nothing to do with it.
  11. I've been waiting for a week to join ideascale...I've tried multiple times... What gives?
  12. The ability to link/change presets in the HD500 directly from the JTV....flipping your pickup selector switch not only changes the guitar model, but changes to your chosen preset in the HD500, all set-up in Workbench. With some of the small stages I play on, this would be wonderful!
  13. I guess it's not midi, it's over the VDI cable, just in opposite direction as it works now.
  14. To me it's easier to tell which is which by playing...I have 1.9 one and 2.0 on another guitar. 1.9 is much more compressed.
  15. I've personally owned over 40 Strats, and always chased tone with pickup/neck swaps. The 2.0 Spank tones are vanilla boring to me. Swapping to the Dano body in Workbench helps a bit, but loses a bit of authenticity. Edit: No offense to vanilla...
  16. Great minds think alike! ;) I'm still waiting for my ideascale approval, then I'll like your post. I would really love this!
  17. I just wanted to make sure I haven't missed how to do this. I love changing presets on the HD500 and it simultaneously switching the guitar model, pickup position, tuning, and knob placements on my JTV. Awesome! But I would love the ability to set up my custom banks on the JTV to change presets on the HD500! Change from a 12 string acoustic to Spank with Vibe, to a Lester roaring thru a Brit amp, just by changing my 5-way selector. Is this possible? Thanks for help, Scott
  18. I got that same email, but there is no video linked to it, and I've searched online with no luck.
  19. Sorry, but I don't see the those studs changing a thing! I have those on a couple of guitars, they won't alleviate any tuning problems. They make a tonal difference when you lock them down, but not tuning! If not locked down, they can even move around. Check out this video...he will show how it keep any guitar in tune! Amazing tips, a must watch.... http://youtu.be/O0Oyc6slYRc As long as your nut slots are wide enough and never make a "ping" sound, the above video will fix your problem.
