Turned them off by midi command from the Helix. It does not change the loaded models so when Helix is disconnected you can still use it standalone.

You probably won't be able to use 3 amps due to DSP but also it's very tricky to get 3 amps to play nicely together in one patch. Too hard to figure out switching on and off. However, using two amps is a breeze and you can easily get what you want. You can also do what you want with just one amp and stacking pedals in front. Try Red Squeeze into TS808 into Minotaur into AC-30 or Div by 13. You can also assign amp Drive to the expression pedal to go from clean to full gain. Lots of tricks with a little planning to easily get the 3 tones you are looking for...

Question about saving IR's in Helix app... export don't save in order
radatats replied to jaminjimlp's topic in Helix
I'm pretty sure they don't get erased on a firmware update, at least mine didn't. I believe they are in there until you physically move or change them. But its a good practice for sure if you use them regularly. -
I totally don't understand what you are saying here. It sounds like you are saying you can change the amp models in the DT through L6 link? You are not using the Helix amp models? What setting in the Helix even does that? My understanding and experience so far is that the Helix signal through L6 link still runs through the DT amp modeling, essentially coloring the tone by whatever amp model is loaded in the DT. But that is only if you choose the voicing prior to starting L6 link. Helix doesn't change anything in the DT through L6 link, just goes through whichever channel and voicing you have selected at the time. What I have learned is to use midi to turn off all modeling in the DT and to choose class, triode/pentode and topology. That way you are only using the tube power section to amplify the complete tone signal from the Helix. I don't doubt what you are saying, just not sure I understand you correctly or exactly what you are doing. Doesn't really matter though, as long as the tones you have are what you want, that's all that matters!

yes you can run 4 separate paths as described but you may run out of DSP to process all those FX blocks. If you are feeding physical amps and not needing the amp sims it may be possible. You can use the FX Sends as outs too. Sounds like fun!

all styles, rock, prog, metal, fusion. Loving the Divided by 13, Jumped Plexi, Uberschall but seriously they all sound great, especially through the DT25. I try to use them all just so I don't get stuck on anything specific

Anyone done the treble bleed mod on JTV-69
radatats replied to Dshow's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Not sure the difference is enough to really notice. I use mags with VDI on my 69 and it sounds virtually the same as mags on my regular single coil guitar. If you never use the capabilities, what's the point of even having a JTV? -
if you want to get that SRV sound its more than the patch. Check out this site, it really helped me get the feel for it... http://texasbluesalley.com/

yeah I really wish they had kept the CD/MP3 input and let it function just like USB 1 & 2. I really don't want to drag a laptop around and unfortunately my Android tablet isn't playing nicely with audio over USB. I'll probably have to root it and see if it works better but I have no desire to buy an iPad...

nothing recorded with DT. I send the XLR outs to the PA, super easy.

There's a whole thread on it. Bottom line, it sounds amazing and feels like it should, a real amp in the room, or rather, a whole collection of amps... http://line6.com/support/topic/17033-anyone-using-dt-amp-with-helix/

I've had my Helix for a couple of months now and have been using it direct to PA and loving it. I tried hooking it up to my DT25 HD and a 1X12 cab this weekend. I used the L6 Link and a midi cable for control. As of now, the Helix doesn't fully integrate like the HD500 but it is so easy to use midi to do the same thing with Helix. I turned off all the amp, cab and mic sims in the DT and just used the Helix for everything. I tried the preamps and full amps with and without cab sims. I found the cab sims unnecessary and the preamps have a wide range of volume swings. The full amp models are pretty close in volume levels and sound amazing through the DT. Miles ahead of the HD500, really just blew me away. I really can't say enough about how great it sounds. If you go with the DT you won't be disappointed. I posted the whole setlist as a template in another thread on here if you want it or just let me know.

I rebuilt the setlist so hopefully it works better for everyone this time! http://share.myflare.com/hB549Z

I did the 36 month plan and had no problem making a couple of payments early. I beats the crap out of laying out the full amount and them deciding you don't like it. Plus I'll be done a couple months early too. It's not a separate account either, shows up on the same statement and uses the same available credit...

well I am a little bummed right now. I used the Helix app to rearrange all the patches into a new setlist last night so I could upload it. I just tested the setlist today at lunch and almost everything is shifted by a couple of slots. I just went through on the Helix and reset all the patches but i noticed the midi assignments were also reversed on some of the FS. I will fix everything tonight and upload the fixed setlist. What a f@ck story... I don't know if it was my computer or the Helix app but I suggest being careful when transferring or copy and pasting patches between sets. Can't wait for the full desktop app to be finished for doing work like this. It's fine building a patch on the unit but major set management needs the computer app.

No, Helix doesn't have full integration with the DT amps most likely because it's amp architecture is completely different to the HD series the DT is based on. The midi is to control the DT configuration. I can honestly say that it sounds amazing and definitely better than when I was using it with my HD500. I don't have L series so can't say there but my Alesis Alpha 112's sound awesome too...

just started using them together and have to use midi with L6 Link but the tone is off the charts... loving it.
-
not true, only if you use a combined amp and cab block in the Helix. My patches use separate preamp, amp and cab blocks so you can turn on only what you need. But yes, we don't want anything in the DT affecting tone other than the physical power section.
-
I honestly didn't find any issues using L6 link. Until Helix I never had any cause to use midi other than to update or with DT Edit. I have since sold my HD500 so can't check anything anymore.
-
OK, here we go. Please download my DT Templates setlist and check it out with your DT amp. You will need your L6 Link connection and a midi connection from Helix out to DT in. Each patch should load with no amp, cab or mic in the DT, the correct topology selected in channel A, and a full amp model in the Helix. The preamp and Helix cabs are bypassed. You can switch from amp to preamp with a FS and you can turn the cab ON/OFF with a FS. You can also change class, Triode/Pentode and topology with FS to experiment. Have fun with it and please give me feedback on anything that needs fixing or anything you really like. NOTE: this is the link to the rebuilt setlist, should be good to go... http://share.myflare.com/hB549Z

Got it! Awesome bro...

played some more with it today, did a run through of all the preamps and full amps and tried using the cabs too. The preamps have a huge difference in volume but the full amps are much closer to level. Both sounded great but the full amps seemed to have better definition as distinct amps. The cabs however were not needed in my opinion. I preferred everything with the cabs turned off, just had a better tone to my ears. Not sying the cabs are not good, just saying they aren't needed. I started building the default templates for all the amps putting both a pre and full amp on a FS and the corresponding cab on a separate FS along with class, triode/pentode and topology on FS too. As I was going through them I realized that since I sold my HD500 I can't pull up the default settings for all the amps in the model packs. If someone can send that to me I would appreciate it. I have the info for all the 2.0 amps.

DT Edit is not a live editor. It is used to configure the standalone amp/cab/mic/reverb state of the 8 voicings in the DT. Whatever changes you make using DT Edit are saved in the DT when you disconnect. It does not save patches as the gain and tone stack configurations do not save. They are strictly tied to the physical knob positions.
