maybe you post some details on your issue here including what amps and gear you are using and someone else can assist. This is a users forum after all. Try the FB Users group too.

you're gonna love that setup with the wet/dry/wet... absolute killer...

generally you should use the cabs/IR's with a FRFR type powered speaker. They are designed to accurately reproduce what you are sending them, warts and all, so you will get a more raw sound that can be overly harsh without the cab/IR. A guitar cab and speaker is very different with a specific tone range designed to work with a guitar. It rolls off the harsh highs and most of the real lows and gives you that warm tone you expect. Using the cabs/IRs gives you that guitar cab effect and lets you tailor the tone to match a multitude of options. Give it a try, it won't hurt anything. Up to you whether you like it or not.

Converting Spider III 150 Combo to a cabinet
radatats replied to Tk11's topic in Spider I / II / III
sounds like a fun project. However, I suggest you go with the series vice parallel wiring. On the Randall page it says 8 ohms minimum for the RD1H. While it may handle the ohms, it could cause issues down the road. It will work just as well at 16 ohms and safer for your amp. -
all the effects are listed here including the delays. https://lookaside.fbsbx.com/file/Effects.pdf?token=AWxpy_oyNcQmdZc3Qvwta5yCnWM8gPoHtmj7h6DFst-1qd3WZZW2Oi7NRzDMcEQn-TvEQhZNSrYh5W7dgHFjdjsrzFdHnmD0VdNnq96YbvP-k0Zqt4-50Ua0-TKmDpG2_a6xYIWpwgRcjoCE-Dsorz28JfV-fcsKc6l-9Rl2Xq3Pyg

I think you can do what you want in Helix. You would add a separate path in front of the amp block for your send/return to your pedal. Then you would control the split block along with your amp controls so as you move to dirt it morphs over to add your pedal and vice versa. So many options with this thing...
-
Yep it works great that way. Just remember that it's the same as using DT Edit. The DT will stay in the last configuration it gets from the Helix. I am at the point where I just set one channel voicing to DT amp/cab off, topology III, and leave it that way. Now its just a tube power amp and I don't need the midi cable at all, just the L6 link.

Full Compass is the only place I know for Line 6 parts like this. Good luck www.fullcompass.com/

Thinking about what you are asking and realizing that if you just get the 1500 you can sell the TT because you won't even need it. The 1500 does everything the TT does and does it better with the HD models too. Have you considered a different AMPLIFi model? Maybe the 75 or 150 would do what you want at a lower price point?

Wow, never heard of that happening before. Definitely need to put in a support ticket.

I swapped out the stock speakers in my Flextone XL with a pair of Eminence Red Coat Governors this weekend. I had the Governors in another cab that i wasn't using so I swapped speakers in the two cabs. Downside is the Felxy just got heavier as the Governors are beefy. Upside is it took the Flexy to tonal perfection. I expected a bump but this was more. These speakers are tight in the bottom end and smooth all the way up. The highs are clear and articulate and it just sounds on a different level. I'm running my Helix in through the FX Return, not using the Flextone modeling. I had a patch I was working on with the Tyco muff into a Matchless and it just wasn't right before. Tried it with the new spekers and it came alive. Haven't tried the closed back 2x12 with the Flextone speakers but I expect they will work good in there. I'm not recommending anyone run out and buy these speakers, just relating my experience if anyone is interested. I'm actually comfortable letting the DT25 go now and reallocating the funds to new guitars.

I leave mine on most of the time. Not the greatest solution but it works. The guy that I got the idea from has his iPad on his music stand controling it as he plays.

Chuck R. over on the FB Line 6 Helix User Group turned me on to a great solution that lets you have complete control over your Helix app from your iPad or tablet from literally anywhere. It uses an app called Splash Top (free for personal use) that lets you remotely view and control your computer screen from your tablet. I just loaded it on my Kindle Fire HD and my desktop and bamm, there was my Helix editor fully functional on my tablet, wireless from another room in the house. The resolution is good but quite small as you would expect but normal pinch to expand works fine. It's not perfect but it is a solution for those times I want to work out an idea and get it programmed for testing later without having to go to the studio. Might not be helpful to many of you but I thought it was worth sharing. Hope it helps someone...

You do an awesome job communicating DI, greatly appreciated. I thought there already was a Line 6 Blog? That's a great idea BTW... Put your big posts there and link to them. One easy place to find it all. Your info gets buried in these threads and sometimes overlooked. Of course that means one more thing for you to work on, I know... lol

Well I have an original Flextone XL which should have the Eminence drivers, not the Celestions. Based on what you said, maybe I should just leave well enough alone. I like the Helix with no cab modeling through the Flexy but all the amps tend to sound similar. If i do use the cab modeling I have to bump the cab output level up about 6db to match the volume without the cab. The different cabs do sound good that way. Considering i got it for $85 on CL I consider it an amazing steal...

Thanks spaceatl! I found an old thread of yours on the subject, really great info... Doesn't look like the Madison Minstrels are made anymore. Do you know anything about the Eminence speakers used in the original Flextones? Got me thinking about swapping in my Governers this weekend and putting the Flextone speakers in my closed back cab. http://line6.com/supportarchive/thread/1983/

I'm not sure there is any difference in the modelling between the Amplifi and the Flextone III which is basically a Vetta with less features. What you do get is the better UI and the BT integration. I didn't think backing tracks would sound that hot through a guitar amp.
-
The Flexy is a open back guitar cab and it's never going to be FRFR. However, you may be able to get it to do a reasonable acoustic guitar tone with the right EQ and patch in the TT. As far as backing tracks through it? Won't be stellar is all I'll say. Might be good enough for practice though.
-
The Flextone already had a custom voiced Celestion designed by Line 6 to work with their modeling. Not worth changing anything as that is a great speaker choice and anyways its an open back cab. Any type of FRFR coax speaker design would need a good crossover and specific closed cab. Use the Flexy with the FX return. Try the full amp models with no cab modeling, I think you'll like it.
-
It really doesn't matter what settings you use on the Flextone if you are going into the FX return. That bypasses all the internal modeling and effects in the Flextone and goes straight to the power amp. The only thing that still works on the Flextone is the Master volume. Don't forget to put a dummy plug in the Flextone Guitar In or you won't get any sound. All my modeling and effects are in the Helix (HD500 for you) with the Flextone just doing the power amp and cab.
-
No it didn't. It worked offline as have all previous Line 6 editors.
-
I heard they changed it to tethered in the later versions so AX8 probably is tethered. I just got it to play with AX patches.
-
I'm running Axe Edit now and I've never owned one... Use it to see how some of their patches are built.
-
Thanks for the editor but are you serious? It doesn't work offline? It only works when tethered to the unit? I hope that's a Beta bug to be fixed in the final version. It's practically useless to me now. I love editing on the unit but need the desktop version for creating new patches, organizing sets, programming and it doesn't frigging work... Did i miss something? PS - not complaining. Just sucks to be that one guy that wanted a feature... lol
-
Ha! I scored a Flextone XL for $85 last month and run my Helix through the FX loop for practice. Stereo amp so easy to get great tones... 60lbs though...
