Here's what you do. On each path right before the IR add a Volume gain block and pull it down to create a parallel path. Drag the merge blocks down too so you have separate outputs on all 4 paths (1A, 1B, 2A, 2B). Set the output block on the paths with the IR to XLR panned the way you want. Set the output blocks on the no IR paths to 1/4 centered. Now run your Left 1/4 out to the DT return and both Helix amps will be merged to the DT. If you keep your post effects like delay and reverb only to the PA you will have a sweet wet/dry/wet rig. Up to you. As long as you are running into the FX return the DT preamp/cab is totally bypassed anyways so you shouldn't need any tuning that way. I'm not wasting any time or money trying to match or beat my DT25 with anything you mentioned. The only thing I am considering is the Orange Rocker 32 which has a true stereo power section. No rush to get it though...

great choice with the DT25. In standalone use (no HD500) what you have is a 2 channel amp with the ability to load 8 different amp/cab models, 4 on channel A and 4 on channel B. Because the knob positions are not stored you have to dial in one on channel A and one on channel B and switch back and forth. You can load any combination of amps and cabs in the 8 slots using midi. Changing the topology switch in standalone mode does not change the topology as you would expect. It actually loads a complete amp/cab setup. They call it a voicing which means an amp/cab/mic and reverb model. All of that is user editable using midi and DT Edit. As far as the popping, that is normal when switching from class A to class AB. The power section is physically changing so for practical use you should try to avoid making those changes during a performance. Try setting up a clean amp on channel A and a dirty on channel B but keep both of them the same class. Since you got this used, you don't really know what the previous owner loaded. I recommend doing a factory reset first. At least then you have a good place to start and know what you have. Then you can get a USB midi adapter and using DT Edit you can set it up the way you want it. To return all settings back their factory default state, you'll need to perform a “Reset†of the DT amp. To perform the Reset, start with the DT amplifier powered “Off,†then simultaneously hold the Voicing toggle switch DOWN and the Pentode/Triode toggle switch UP while powering the amp “On.†https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Uno http://line6.com/support/topic/124-user-created-dt-editors/

I don't understand the connection to DT50, USB? and midi? Did you mean L6 link? If so the problem has been extensively detailed previously by me and others. The DT is based on POD HD software vs the Helix HX software. The two are not directly compatible like the DT and HD500 were. What happens is the Helix is sending the full signal to the DT but the DT is then playing it through its own internal amp and cab modeling depending on which voicing you have selected. The voicing switch does not just control the power section topology which I suspect is what you want it to do. Thus you have a much different tone than expected. Your choices are either reconfigure the DT to turn off the internal modeling and continue using L6 and midi to configure the DT or go direct in to the DT FX return and again use midi for configuration. The end result with both ways is to bypass the DT internal amp and cab modeling and just use the DT power section to amplify your Helix tones. The disadvantage is the DT stays in the last configuration you sent it by midi. See the below link for a better description of my solution. Either way it won't sound exactly the same as your PA since the speakers are quite different. Also I set up dual outputs in Helix so the one going to the DT has no cab or IR and the one going to the PA does. I also prefer full amp models through the DT, not preamps. http://line6.com/support/topic/26901-helix-l6-to-dt50/?do=findComment&comment=208473

Line6 M5 noise gate
radatats replied to JakubP's topic in DL4 MkII / DL4 / MM4 / DM4 / FM4 / AM4 / ToneCore
I believe that all the Setup parameters are global. To access Page 2 you need to press and hold the TAP footswitch, then press the Model Select knob to enter Setup. Press it again to enter Page 2 of Setup. Make your global Gate adjustments there. They are not separate for each effect. -
we are men. We don't need manuals. We prefer to muck it up and complain later. By the way, what's that stupid USB stick for anyways since you can't load your presets or IR's on it?

The problem is that even though the DT and the Helix use the same communication protocol (L6 Link), their basic software architecture is totally different and do not integrate. They never will. What you are experiencing is well documented by me and others here. The Helix signal is actually running through the DT internal amp and cab models and that sucks. The only solution is to also use a midi cable to connect your DT in addition to the L6 Link. The Helix can send midi commands to the DT to control it. You can program each Helix patch to configure the DT the way you want by midi and that works OK. However, the DT will stay in whatever configuration you last gave it so I found that unworkable. I found the best way to work it is to turn off the internal amp and cab on all 4 voicings on both channel A and B in the DT. I then configured the 4 voicings in channel A to Class A, topology I-IV and channel B to Class AB, topology I-IV. Now all I have to do is send one midi command from Helix to pick the channel and voicing I want for my Helix patch. Nothing changes in the DT. You can use something like DT Edit to configure your DT that way. Once you do that all the knobs on the DT are inactivated except the Master and the Reverb. The DT is basically just a tube power amp now for my Helix. Works great. If you don't like it you can always do a factory reset on the DT back to normal. Your other option is to skip the L6 Link and just go in to the DT FX return bypassing the preamp altogether. If you don't want topology matching that might be the best choice for you. I don't think the DT Master works that way though so the DT is full blast. You would need to control volume from the Helix.

The HD500 binds to the DT channel A amp only when using L6 link. Even with a dual amp setup in the HD500, the DT power section will only link to the model in channel A. By using your separate FS to physically change channels in the DT on top of whatever you have in the HD500 you are essentially disconnecting the DT power section when you switch to channel B. Stop using the FS when you have L6 link. Let the HD500 do all the work for you. Leave your DT set on channel A and do everything with the HD500 over L6 link. Plus you get access to ALL the amp models, not just the 2 channels the DT has and it saves all your knob positions for you.

I suggest you try to get a hands on with a Helix and see for yourself it is what you are looking for. The new Helix LT may be just the ticket for you at a better price point too. Try one of the big box retailers on a payment plan. If you don't like it, send it back and you are out shipping costs at most. Personally, I would take the Helix over the Spider any day of the week, hands down. That shouldn't mean squat to you though. It's your ears that need to be pleased. I wasn't happy trying to run my Helix or any modeler through my home stereo. Just isn't a good solution in my opinion. For home use you would probably need a decent set of studio monitors with at least 5" speakers. You would be able to build tones that translate nicely to bigger systems with minimal tweaking. Global EQ is great for that. Hope that helps...

apparently its close... very close... https://www.facebook.com/groups/line6helixusergroup/permalink/688248771358799/

you can have all four separate path output blocks set to XLR and all panned differently. No problem. Lots of ways to do it but basically here is what you are asking for. Build your patch on path 1A with your pre effect and amp / cab. After the cab add a gain block and pull it down to create path 1B. Pull the merge block down and set 1B output to path 2A. Set Path 1A output to XLR and keep it centered. If you put anything like EQ on 1A after the split make sure its a mono effect. Add a wet effect on path 2A and drag it down to create 2B. Drag the merge block down to create 2 separate outputs for 2A and 2B and set them both to XLR. Pan one hard right and the other hard left. Add more wet effects in any combination you like. You could also just use stereo effects on path 2 and keep just one path to the output in stereo.

1. without the HD500 and L6 link your DT is effectively just a 2 channel amp even if you have 8 models loaded. Since the control knobs positions are not remembered, changing voicing on eiher channel requires new tweaking manually. Believe me going from a Blackface to a Treadplate can be a shock at full volume. With the POD everything is remembered with the patch and you can access and level all 30 amps. 2. without the HD500 and L6 link your DT can't change cabs without reconfiguring with a midi interface. 3. without the HD500 and L6 link your DT can't change NFL topology. Changing the topology switch changes voicing and pulls up a different amp/cab combination, it doesn't change the topology of the amp you are using. With the POD you can change the topology and class of the current amp model. 4. without the HD500 and L6 link your DT can't blend 2 amps and cabs. With the POD you can create dual amp patches and seamlessly morph between them. The physical DT power section stays locked to Channel A but you can create totally new tones.

Might have overstated the promise bit... nevertheless http://line6.com/support/topic/23374-dt-series-amp-integration-and-helix-revisited/?do=findComment&comment=178358

Hahahahaha... only in my own mind... lol Glad I can help the community a little bit.

You could do midi with a FX return connection to change parameters too. The problem is whatever changes you send to the DT stay that way until the next change commands. If you are using the FX return and send midi commands to set Class A, topo III, on Channel A, voice I for instance, that is how your DT will remain no matter what until you send new commands or do a system reset. That's why i set all 8 voicings one time and then just choose the right one for my needs.
-
No, unfortunately it still needs a midi connection from Helix out to DT25 in for the channel / voicing changes in addition to the L6 link...
-
If you use the FX return you lose any opportunity to reconfigure the DT25 to match the amp you are using in Helix without manually throwing switches. I use the L6 link personally. I used DT Edit to reconfigure my DT25 so there are no internal amps or cabs on any of the 8 voicings. Channel A is set up with Class A, topology 1-4 and Channel B is set up with Class AB, topology 1-4. Now all I have to do is add a midi instant command to my Helix patch to pick the right voicing for the model I am using. I never use my DT without the Helix so it works for me. I have posted a lot about Helix DT integration and wish they would fix it. They have stated many times that it is on the list but the things they have given us so far were much higher priorities. Its never going to be as seamless as it was in the HD500 because the system architectures between Helix and HD500 are so different. However, they have promised us an 'elegant' solution at some point...

HD147 - Firmware Update
radatats replied to rabidcadaverdog's topic in Flextone I / II / III / Duoverb / HD147
I don't think that amp or any of the Flextones had any firmware update options. I got what it came with and that's it... -
Flextone III not accepting fbv pedal
radatats replied to robbiepenny's topic in Flextone I / II / III / Duoverb / HD147
I could be wrong but I don't think the MkII FBV works with the Flextone series just as the newer FBV3 won't either. You need the older FBV or FBV Shortboard, not the MkII models. -
If and ONLY if you have previous experience and skills working on tube amps you might find this link helpful. Voltages in there can kill you so be careful. http://line6.com/supportarchivenew/thread/75238/

The HD147 is basically a Flextone III head and will be great for use with the Helix. You need to watch for these older units beginning to wear out, the caps pop sometimes and the pots can be crackly but for the price you can't beat them. And as Peter said they are fine as a backup in a pinch. You will also need a dummy 1/4 jack in the guitar input or the FX loop will be disabled. I can run my cab in stereo but I usually do a wet/dry to the 2X12. One channel/speaker is pushing the dry amp tone and the other is pushing the wet tone with delay/reverb/etc. Sounds fantastic without any of the live stereo problems. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/GPR101

love the Archon but created a new patch today with Archon Lead and Slo100 Lead OD in paralell paths that merge and send to 2A for another split for wet/dry to the PA. The Slo really complements the darker Archon so well...

Great steal on the DT25 HD, that's what I have but it was a lot more $$$. You have to be careful with tubes. This is a hybrid amp and very finicky. You can't swap tubes for other than the factory installed matched EH tubes or you will have problems, possibly a fried motherboard. The tubes aren't an issue really. BTW the tubes are never bypassed. The preamp is strictly digital but the power section is strictly analog. If you use the LVM switch, the preamp section uses the full amp model instead of the preamp model to give better tone at low volumes. Personally I never use it. You really need to get a good USB to midi connector like the M-Audio Uno and make sure you have the latest firmware installed. If it was used, I would also recommend a factory reset to ensure any previous user changes are discarded. Next get one of the free editors like DT Edit and inspect what amp/cab models are loaded in each of the 8 voicings. The latest firmware lets you choose from 20+ different amps, cabs and mics as well as the 12 different reverbs. You can really dial it in the way you want it. You still only have 2 at a time (channel A and B) but you have a lot more to choose from. You could have a Blackface on Channel A and a DrZ on Channel B and with the knobs set each one up the way you want them. The DT really shines with a HD500 as a controller. It also allows you to save all your settings for recall when ever you want them and you don't need to reprogram the DT. Something to consider and they are pretty reasonable second hand. http://line6.com/support/topic/124-user-created-dt-editors/ http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Uno
