  1. OMFG... I finally set up a patch to the DT using L6 link and midi. Used instant commands to select channel A, turn mic, amp, cab, and reverb off and set the upper row of FS to switch Class A-AB, Triode-Pentode, Topo 1-2, Topo 3-4 and loaded up the Divided by 13 preamp with no cab or mic. The knobs on the DT have no effect now so I cranked the DT Master full up and the Helix output full up. I have a DT25 HD into my own 1X12 cab with Eminence Guvnor and it sounded nice but pretty quiet. Turned the preamp Drive 1 and 2 up to 7 and 9 and it livened up. Tested the FS and everything responded just as it should. The class changes, Triode-Pentode and topologies all worked just as expected. The magic came when I added some compression and drive blocks. I was stunned at how good the Screamer, Klon and OCD sounded in this configuration. Stacking them worked wonders too in a way I hadn't quite managed with FRFR. Screamer into OCD was fantastic. Family was home so couldn't really rip but its there. To lower volume a bit just select Class AB and Triode while keeping the tone. This is just an amazing rig. Next I plan on building a setlist for the DT with all the preamps set to their default settings as they were in the HD500. I will include the default cab and mic too but that can always be bypassed if needed. I will post it up when done.
  2. Cool beans. I would love a copy of that template when you get it done. I don't really want to set the DT to none permanently, just when using the Helix with L6 link. Rather keep my eight separate amp/cab setups. Although I have to admit I never really play it standalone... So are you saying that with none selected, you can't change topology by midi? Interesting...
  3. Just remember, the DT was designed to be used with L6 link, not really midi. You can load up 8 different amp models, but only two are active at any time without the POD. If you change amp models by midi, the new amp will still have all the settings of the old amp. That means switching from a Blackface to a Mesa can rip yer face off! It's just not functional. You can certainly set up midi to switch channels, reverb on off, change topology or class if you want. But switching between the 8 loaded amps is not really usable without dialing in the new model on the DT each time.
  4. I don't think you can turn off the cab sim on the DT Direct out can you? I don't see it anywhere in the manual or the midi guide. If you can then I guess you could bring it back into the Helix for processing... I'm just looking to do wet-dry-wet with the DT and my PA.
  5. not sure what you mean here... I just want to send the Helix preamp with all Helix FX to the DT tube power section and to the physical cab with no cab or mic sims from either the Helix or DT. This is where I prefer the offline editor so I can play around building patches on the computer, making FS and controller assignments and midi commands to test later...
  6. Tal - can you share your preset for that on Customtone or here? I have DarrelM5's preset (thanks) but it still uses the DT cabs. Do you have the topology switching assigned to FS? Do you still have to have the DT controls turned up when there is no amp assigned? How do you set your DT up in this configuration? Thanks to all of you for your assistance on here, much appreciated...
  7. two IdeaScale posts on this idea already, vote them up... http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Optional-Global-signal-path-Spillover/741927-23508 http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Delay-Reverb-Preset-spillover-on-Helix/727853-23508
  8. not removed, no longer supportable as the DSP demands of improved effects and better modeling keep increasing...
  9. is there ANY unit that has spillover between patch changes? WTF?
  10. the problem is El Capitan, not Helix. many are having issues with it on all sorts of gear.
  11. from reading the manual your amp has full midi capabilities so yeah, Helix can do that...
  12. Nice thing about JTV and POD is you can assign the volume knob to adjust an EQ block in your patch to try to do what you want. Set it up so as you lower the volume it increases the treble range either of your amp or an EQ block. Might just give you what you want without any mods!
  13. Unfortunately you most likely are exceeding the capabilities of your cab and speaker. As you stated its rated for 48 Hz -18 kHz (@ - 10 dB) but low E on a bass guitar is about 41 Hz and you are playing drop D which is even lower. As for the rated response, generally if you check the graph you will see that it is a steep drop off at the ends of the range. The speaker cone in your Alto is designed for a wide range of music, not specifically for bass guitar and does not have the necessary excursion to respond well to those low frequencies which is why it farts out at the low end. You will need to use an EQ to dramatically lower the output at the lowest levels or better yet, add a subwoofer to your Alto! The Alto subwoofer will keep all the freqs below 100Hz for itself and only pass those above 100 to your TS115 allowing it to function the way it was designed. You can probably get away with the 12 sub since it is designed specifically for bass but if you really need that super low thump get the 18. No more farting, just chest thumping... http://www.altoproaudio.com/products/tssub12
  14. as soon as you switch to Win 10... LOL (sorry, couldn't resist)
  15. I quit 3 times, once for nearly a year before I finally did it for good. That was in '89 and thank God I never touched them again. Cold turkey is the only thing that worked for me. It's hard as hell but remember, nicotine is water soluble and is totally flushed from your body in 24 hours. Its not a physical thing after that but the habits are the hardest things to overcome. Keep some Tic Tacs or gum and use it when you feel the urge, keep a few picks in your pocket just to have something in your hand. The little things help. Remember, you only have to quit for today! In less than 6 months you will have saved enough to pay for that Helix...
  16. I tried some acoustic stuff today for the first time using my JTV69. I ended up using the Jazz Rivet full amp. I tried using various cabs and IR's but in the end I stuck with just the amp, it sounds better without anything else. I put a high low cut to tame the low end and a simple delay, 200ms, 21% mix, no reverb. The amp is so clean its perfect and the tone stack works well. Lowered the presence for the top end. I tried some compression but it wasn't needed. It actually sounds great!
  17. well I wasn't going into a board, into a powered monitor with an input that accepts both XLR and 1/4 jacks. It is supposed to accept line level signals fine bu my experience was that it preferred the mic level... I had fizz int the beginning, believe me. I started a whole thread on it. (http://line6.com/support/topic/16128-alesis-alpha-112-fizz/) All I can say is I have none of those issues now. It sounds amazing...
  18. I had a similar experience when I first got mine too. I also bought a new pair of Alesis Alpha 112's to go with the Helix and I nearly sent everything back after the first week. I ended up switching from the 1/4 outs to the XLR's set to mic level and that helped. I turned the Alesis down and the Helix up and that helped. I set the high pass on the cabs to 6.2 and the low pass to 110 and that helped. As it sits now, it sounds fantastic. Maybe the speakers needed to break in a bit, maybe the updates have helped. Maybe my patch building has improved. All I know is that right now I am really glad I stuck with it. I'm sure the biggest problem was me all along...
  19. I have mine set up on my amp stand so its just the right height when I am seated. Very easy to edit tones this way. I have been having so much fun with this thing it blows my mind. I had issues at first and I don't know exactly what fixed them but the tone is stellar now...
  20. well the OP didn't ask about that but frankly its not there at this time. I know they are hoping to get a better fit between the two but for now there are workarounds. I've been more focused on my Helix through FRFR but I'll work the DT in at some point. Looking forward to a real solution from Line 6 in the future and sure it will be killer...
  21. I have a DT25 head and a couple of cabinets, a 1X12 and a 2X12. I had a HD500 and together they were awesome. I sold the 500 to get my Helix but I am not selling the DT25. By itself it is an amazingly versatile amp. I can load 8 different amp models at a time out of the 20 plus available models. I set one in channel A and another in Channel B so two at a time. I can easily have a crystal clean in one channel and a smoking lead in the other. I can control it by footswitch or with midi. Each channel can also be set to either 10 watts Class A or 25 watts class AB with 4 choices for topology or negative feedback loop. Really changes the feel and response of the amp. Another huge point is the DT has all the reverbs from the HD500 built in. You can configure the reverb when you load the amp models, everything from 63 spring to particle verb or octo verb. You won't get that in any other tube amp out there. It also has a nice FX loop and takes pedals well. I haven't played the Blackstar but from what I see it is a 60 watt amp which means it will be very loud. It doesn't have a 10 watt option. The DT also has a Low Volume Mode switch that adds full amp model effects for better tone at bedroom or practice volumes. Don't get me wrong, the DT gets VERY loud too for a 25 watt amp, especially through my 2X12 cab. I may be biased but my recommendation would be the DT25 unless there is something you haven't told us that would require a bigger amp. Of course in that case you can look for a DT 50!
  22. The bigger question is why would you want to revert to analog pedals? Not to be a d!ck but that will be a huge step backwards. The 500 and the DT25 integrate so well and really allow you to do anything pedals can do in so many more ways without the hassles of carrying a huge pedal board around. By all means do what makes you happy but analog is no holy grail despite what you may read on some other boards... just my 2 cents...
  23. I updated tonight with no issues (win 10) but didn't do any of the dual footswitch resets. The install said it rebuilt all my presets so am I missing anything by not doing the full reset? I really don't care if there are any new factory presets, I prefer making my own anyways. The new delays and features are awesome! Really digging this Helix, especially the Divided by 13 amp...
