Played it for a couple hours tonight just through headphones and it is just simply fantastic. I also just played through the first setlist banks and all the amps are there. I mean really there. They are just that much better than the HD500. Even the Line 6 models are spectacular now. And the new effects just more detailed and nuanced. The scribble strips are brilliant and the tuner is off the charts... I like the UI but I need to get used to the joystick, I tend to turn it when I mean to just nudge it. Didn't even try doing it with my feet. I will get my new PA set up this weekend and blow the cobwebs out and see what its made of. So far its absolutely everything I hoped it would be. I will record samples when everything is up and running... ;)

Santa stopped by today... played through the factory presets in the first set-list and it is absolutely worth the wait and the price. Just through headphones so far but just... yes...

Its your decision obviously, but you should remember that the DT series is constructed around the HD amp modeling, not the new HX amp modeling. One might think that the power section is completely separate from the pre section in a DT but I don't think that is the case. There is a lot of integration in the signal flow to enable all the features like LVM, Direct Out, etc. I have no doubt that if it was at all possible they would have included it. My bet is it can't physically be done due to the actual construction of a DT amp and its internal signal flow. That said, the Helix signal fed to the DT FX return still does the trick. The workarounds are to use midi or program the DT using DT Edit so the topology switch actually sets the topology you want. Not that hard to select topology or class using the switches. I can't see canceling the Helix order if it does everything else you need and sounds better that the HD just for that feature. Just my opinion...

sad news... hope it is just an anomaly. Mine is due in tomorrow and I already sold the HD500 so if it has to go back I am gonna have to get back to the roots with just an amp (DT25) with reverb... might not be a bad thing but I REALLY hope it doesn't come to that...

got the call, it's on the way... be here Thursday. The case from Rondo got here yesterday and the Alesis Alpha 112's will be here Thursday too. New guitar from Hardluck Kings on Monday. HD500, Tarcase, Rocktron Velocity 300, SKB case, Peavey Pa speakers all sold today... It's like Christmas in October!

I doubt there will be a lite version. They tried the lite version of the HD500 with the 300,400 and that didn't last. The Firehawk is a HD500 lite but certainly not any big break in price point. I think they will continue to support the different price points with appropriate gear, from the Spider line, through Amplifi and HD500 up to Helix.

I use Android not iOS and came across n-Track Studio Multitrack Recorder App for Android. I see it can record with the built-in mic or any class-compliant USB audio device. Gonna have to check that out as it would be great to just be able to use my phone to capture ideas for projects on the fly... 7 bucks for the standard app, 20 for the pro with all features. OK so a good friend is buying my HD500 with the fully loaded bundle installed just in time for my Helix to arrive this week. I want to be absolutely sure he can register it to his own account and install the bundle on his computer too. Can anyone walk me through the necessary steps to make sure we do this right or point me to a knowledge base article with all the details? I don't want to mess this up and lose the bundle to the cyber world...

agreed the L series sound killer but they are expensive. Lots of guys have reported positive experiences with the Alto TS 110a and 112a. Nothing complicated but they are about $2-300 each so a pair of them is less than an L2M. You can use them as back line or PA no problem and still feed FOH either from the POD direct or thru the cabs... I just bought a pair of Alesis Alpha 112A's for $199 each on eBay with free shipping. They are basically a slightly improved Alto with 1000W each and great reviews. They should get here next week about the same time as my Helix and I can't wait to hook it all up and see what it can do... I also have a DT25 and while it sounds great, I don't think it will do what you are looking for with both guitar and keys... for one thing, to use it effectively with guitar and the L6 link it puts your POD in Stack or Combo output mode... Not good either for keys or feeding FOH from the POD.

were you guys not allowed to post clips before it shipped? I think your clips show it off very well. Perhaps you can do a few more with some of the other amp models and effects we haven't heard yet...

just about the dumbest, most condescending comment yet... listing the paid endorsers of a product that's been out for years as proof it is better than something just now being released is idiotic at best... typical Fractal snobbery that's been on display forever regards anything that doesn't cost as much...

Just be sure that the mixer block is the last thing in your signal chain and there are no common FX blocks before the amps. In other words you want two completely separate signal paths, each with its own input, each panned 100% left and right, with the mixer as the final block. That will work just as you requested...

another thing to remember is Helix can load user IR's... That alone is going to expand the tonal range exponentially. No longer are we limited to a small range of tones from a given amp. I think the45 amps in Helix combined with the new capabilities will let you find whatever tone you are looking for.
