Yeah, I really expected a couple of full fledged compressors with all the bells and whistles. At least some new models like the Wampler Ego or Keeley Compressor Pro or the Seymour Duncan Vice Grip. Still it would not surprise me nor would I be disappointed if they instituted a model store so you could purchase and download specific models or model packs in the future. That is what Zoom did for the MS-100BT and it is a great idea. You buy the ones you want at a reasonable price and Line 6 gets a lot of happy customers...

I gave you the direct link to DT Edit in my post above, its free. To connect most of us seem to use the M-Audio Uno unit with no issues. Of course using LVM changes everything! LVM forces the DT to use full amp models to try to compensate for the lower volume. No matter what you think you are dialing in in the POD, the DT is going to change it in LVM. My advice, leave LVM off, Use only preamp models in the POD to match what's in the DT. I never liked LVM anyways. DT Edit

I see Jandrio has come full circle and perhaps has new gear in his future?

I thought the compressor list looked light as well... but I love seeing the Fultone OCD...

One thing you need to know when using the DT and POD is what the topology does for each. For the DT standalone, the topology switch selects amp/cab/mic patches, not actual topology at all. The only way to be sure what is actually assigned to each topology voicing in channel A and channel B is to use a third party editor like DT Edit (https://code.google.com/p/dtedit/) with a midi connection. Once you see exactly what amp/cab/mic is assigned, and the associated settings, (topology, boost, etc.) you can make the same patch in your POD. In the POD, using HD Edit, changing the topology does what you would expect, it changes the negative feedback loop in the power section. Having your standalone DT set to topology IV has absolutely nothing to do with the actual topology of the selected model in the POD. Set your amp/cab/mic and associated settings to exactly match what is in the DT and my experience is it will be the same. Don't forget that the drive, tone stack and channel volume settings you like in the DT standalone should be set exactly the same in your POD patch as well. I personally like to set my DT master to 3 o'clock and use my POD master to control final volume levels. Not sure it makes a difference but whatever combination you decide to use, try to remain consistent from gig to gig. The last thing to remember is that for each standalone DT voicing you can also select which reverb model it uses, from plate to particle reverb. The DT reverb works independently even with the POD connected and is only controlled by the physical knob on the DT. Have fun with it! You really can get it just as good as the standalone DT and it's much easier to use...

With all respect, I'm not sure anyone can really answer your question. I know I really have no idea what you are talking about. There is absolutely no discernible latency when I play, certainly nothing to make me feel disconnected. I have never heard anyone mention any problems with latency except when recording and monitoring the recorded signal. However, that latency is created in the computer and the DAW or VST's being used, not the POD... Anyone else?

I'm quite sure that who obtained poor results with what had at disposal until now, will not get significantly better results with the new device .. HAHAHAHA! that is the absolute truth there my friend... :P

I am sure the HD tones are great, I love mine too. However, I hear something in the Helix I can't duplicate and I hope it is the Helix that gets it. Of course it fixes so many other things that bug me with the HD too. I will post what your asking when I get mine. But I do think that there is an awful lot of skepticism towards the Helix from our own crowd. Not quite sure what to make of it... Was it the same thing when the HD500 came out and folks loved their XT and X3 boards?

I was thinking this weekend about something we have had tons of questions about over the past few years. Exactly how does the signal integrate between the HD500 and the DT. There is no way the POD signal simply goes straight to the power amp like you would think. After all, the DT reverb operates independently, the knobs control parameters on both DT and POD, selecting LVM somehow implements full amp modeling even though the POD has a preamp model selected. All these questions have been asked over time and we have never been given any solid answers from the company. Taking that into account could explain why there is no tight integration between the DT and the Helix. They are both based on different modeling architecture. They probably can't speak to each other due to the significant differences between HD modeling and HX modeling. It certainly isn't that they simply didn't want to support that feature so it has to be something significant. DI has already said that we can get similar functionality, ie. matching power section to the selected HX model by feeding the DT FX Return and using a mid cable. I get the feeling that may be as good as it gets if I am right in my assumptions. If anyone is interested in a gently used DT-25 Head, 1X12 and 2X12 cabs, PM me...

Jandrio - you are sooooooo close... but there is an extra something to the Helix tone that I have never pulled off with the HD. Can't you hear it? Not saying it alone is the holy grail or worth upgrading, but that subtle difference is there, no doubt. Combined with all the other things that were fixed from the HD and the dual processors, it's a go for me... Excellent job by the way!

I'm just speculating here but if I understand the new routing features properly, you should be able to put all your PRE fx in front of a Preamp block with no cab and feed that output to your POST fx and then to a full amp model with a cab IR. That way you can dial in your preamp and if you keep the full amp model very neutral and just tweak the DEP it might do the trick. Any thoughts from the experts or DI?

I preordered my Helix through Sweetwater with the 36 mo, zero interest deal and put it on their card. Zero cash out of pocket. Payments are about $45 a month. When it ships I might have made 2 or 3 payments so only $100-150 invested and I can put it through the paces for a month at home. If I don't like it I can send it back for a few bucks shipping cost. No harm no foul. If I like it (hopefully) I may just sell the HD500 along with all the rest of the gear I am dumping. By the time I am done I will just have the Helix, my JTV-69, and my PA. Rig sorted... I've put off buying the expensive amps and guitars I wanted for many years to put family first. It's my turn now and I am going to get what I want this time, damn the torpedoes... ;)

my estimate is 1369 in the first year... based on absolutely no scientific data or market research. Full disclosure I already preordered... PS - I considered both AXE FX and Kemper but since neither offers an all in one floor solution they didn't make the list... AX8 is too little, too late for me...

I totally understand Sean Halley... lol... they would HATE me... :D

I have a Tarcase off eBay... It will need some mods but it is a solid case.

Check this link... maybe for Riffworks? http://line6.com/supportarchive/thread/2633/

I should have done my research before jumping in. That looks like a cool feature though...
