its not quite that simple... they actually use a coax driver with a mounted hf driver. Problem is you will also have to wire up a suitable crossover to feed both the woofer/mids and the hf drivers. Of course to get any kind of FRFR action you would also have to properly design the cabs as well. Your 4X12 cab won't do the trick. By the time you price it all out and put it together its probably not worth it. Check the links below for speaker parts and prices. http://www.parts-express.com/eminence-beta-12cx-12-coaxial-driver--290-504 http://www.parts-express.com/eminence-asd1001-1-hf-titanium-horn-driver-1-3-8-18-tpi--290-525 http://www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-xo2w-2k-2-way-speaker-crossover-2000-hz--260-140 You may be better off with a decent pair of passive PA speakers using full amp models with your DT tube power section as long as you match up the impedance. If you want to spend some dough, check out AccuGroove cabs, they have a great FRFR line.

so that's twice now somebody said their Sweetwater rep called to say release is pushed back and twice my rep says they haven't heard a thing about any delays...it'll be here when it gets here...
-
try putting your delay between the amp and the mixer in only one channel and then you can adjust the delay any way you want it and control its volume with the mixer level. if you are running a stereo out then you will also need to play with the panning too or use a mono block after the mixer.

exactly why I never sleep with my HD500... lol

actually besides the EQ difference they both sounded good with gain but the nod goes to the second one when the volume is rolled off. Nice job! I want a Friedman pack for the HD and Helix! http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Friedman-Amp-Pack/754564-23508

Wow, if you're that worried about spillage, wrap it in plastic wrap, cling wrap, Saran Wrap, whatever you wanna call it before the gig... You can still work the foot switches... or maybe work on your right cross and your drop kick :D

I THINK you should be able to do it like this. Guitar - MB - POD Guitar IN (input 1 guitar, keep all your effects in Path A, mixer panned hard left and right) - POD L 1/4 out - MB - TL - POD Aux IN (input 2 AUX). Be sure to put a dummy jack in the POD R 1/4 out to prevent the L 1/4 from summing both channels. You could try the XLR but I think their signals will be too low for your amp. XLR is mic level, 1/4 out is line level. In your DAW you will record ONLY the Right channel in mono. That should take your signal all the way through and into your DAW for recording. You may have to adjust signal strength with your mixer levels but it SHOULD work.
-
as far as I know, the only difference in the two patches is: - With the noise gate, it will split and send either or both inputs to both paths equally. - Without the noise gate, each path requires it's own input (input 1 goes to path A, input 2 goes to path B). No input set, no signal passed. However, using a noise gate on your clean path may have a negative effect on the amount of signal that gets through. You are probably better off without it to allow the full signal strength to pass through.

don't bother trying that. Its really not that hard to replace the USB socket and if the controller chip isn't damaged you are good to go. Better off leaving it alone than attempting what you describe... I am going for the Helix too...

great job Peter on the whole series!

No. The modeling when using the DT with the POD is still being done in the POD and standalone is the same as the POD. I have not been able to get the same level of responsiveness you are describing. However, there are other ways to get there by linking the gain to an expression pedal or with my Variax, to the volume or tone knob. Either way, the DT does add a level of flavor or character to the tone that is distinctly different to the FRFR tone, not necessarily better, but different. Not sure it is worth the hassle of having to lug it around and reworking all your patches. I am anticipating better responsiveness with the Helix. It certainly sounds like it should in some of the demo vids I have heard. I have also put a suggestion on IdeaScale for a Friedman amp and cab pack for the Helix and can only hope that one day it gets added!

I am dying to get my hands on one too. I preordered right in the beginning so hopefully... soon... I am looking at Rondo for a case for it. I think this one should do the job nicely with room for expression pedals and extra gear. Great price too. http://www.rondomusic.com/product7519.html

I have a HD500 that is a great unit and like everyone says above can definitely do what you want it to. As noted, you will still have to do a lot of the grunt work getting set up in the first place but then it really is worth it. The POD gives you 16 banks of 4 presets each per setlist so you can easily set up a different bank for each tone style you want with a clean, crunch, lead, rhythm in each one. There are also a ton of ready made presets on the Line 6 Customtone site. Fair warning though, they are user created and not necessarily what you are looking for. Another great option is to visit Glenn Delaune. He has a ton of ready made patches for the HD500 to match a lot of different artists and styles; they are reasonably priced but not free. Another thing to consider is how to use whatever multieffect unit you choose with your tube amp. POD, AxeFX, BOSS, etc. units are generally designed to go straight to PA in a stereo configuration. They include full amp models with cab and mic emulation for that purpose. Using a tube amp you have no need for the full amp or cab modeling so the HD500 also includes preamp models for this purpose to match up with your tube power section and cab. If you have a FX Loop in your amp you are probably best suited to take the 1/4 out from the POD straight into the FX Return of the amp using the preamp models. This lets the POD do all the tone shaping and effects and lets your tubes add that little extra in the power section to your cab. If you don't have a FX Loop, you need to set your amp to it's cleanest channel and run the POD into the guitar in. Again, the idea is to let the POD do all the work without being colored by the amp. Good luck!

as stumblinman said, Send of DT25 to Guitar In of POD - but - take either 1/4 out from POD back to Return of DT25. There is no need to use an FX block at all. The real question is why in the world would you want to do this? You gain nothing since the preamp modeling in the DT is EXACTLY the same as in the POD. If you just want to avoid the L6 link for whatever reason, just go guitar in to the POD and POD 1/4 out straight to the DT25 Return. Skip the DT25 for everything except the tube power section. Better still, as Palico said - USE THE L6 LINK!!

But Helix has enough DSP to have two or more instances of the same amp, each with 2 different sets of parameters controlled by footswitches effectively giving you 4 or more "channels" of the same amp, or different dual channel amps. Like SLO clean with 2 channels and SLO crunch with 2 channels all in the same patch... can't wait for this beast!

vote it up at IdeaScale! http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Friedman-Amp-Pack/754564-23508

I played around with mine today and honestly, the drive has very little of what you would expect. With drive at 30% there is still slight breakup but the tone is a little trebbly and thin. Drive at 70% breakup is about the same but the tone thickens up and there are more lower mids. Bottom line, nothing wrong with your POD but this is not what you would have expected the drive knob to do for this amp...

quite a problem you have! ok so the XLR cable is ok, just carries a digital signal so it either works or it doesn't. Did you buy the DT new or used? What happens if the DT is not connected, same patch, using headphones? Still no change with the gain? When you are connected, have you tried using the gain knob on the DT? Did you make sure you are not in LVM on the DT? What happens if you use a PHD full amp model through the DT? Does the gain work?

yep. have them both assigned to the same pedal with min and max reversed

if you only have one exp pedal and you are already using it as exp1 to control the panner, go into the controller tab, choose the Screamer MODEL, the Drive PARAMETER, set FS ASSIGN to Exp Toe Switch, set CONTROLLER to Exp 2. Now set your MINIMUM and MAXIMUM using the mouse. DO NOT TOUCH THE PEDAL! Press SAVE on the POD to save your settings. If you are still having trouble with the controller settings try resetting (NOT REFLASHING) your POD and recalibrating the pedal.

remember you can assign up to 50 parameters to the expression pedal at the same time. That means you can change amp gain, tone stack, channel volume, compressor level, distortion /overdrive pedal parameters, delay parameters, reverb mix plus lots more all with one expression pedal to smoothly transition from rhythm to lead for example. If you have a Variax you can also use your volume and tone knobs as expression pedals to do the same thing adding further tone changing options. You are only limited by DSP and your own creativity. Benefit is all these changes remain within the same patch so no audible delays and trails remain...

If you want to convert patches between the various HD units and formats to include the floor and rack versions, there is a great utility program hard linked in the HD Forum - http://line6.com/support/topic/2164-pod-hd-tone-conversion-utility/ It will also batch convert a load of patches from full amp to preamp and vice versa, very handy if you have a DT or use a tube amp FX loop... ;)

9-11-15 ???? Is this date still the ETA of the Helix

pot-ay-to, pot-ah-to, tom-ay-to, tom-ah-to, same thing different pronunciation... just like how the hell does lieutenant get from loo-tenant to lef-tenant? just depends on what side of the pond you live on... is it a root or a rout that you take to get there? and how does a bloke that talks with a thick localized British accent suddenly sound like a normal American with no accent when singing? that's what makes life interesting... :)
