  1. It will be in the Command Center. You can assign those functions to footswitches in Stomp Mode, or you can set them up as Instant Commands that are sent out with preset and/or snapshot changes.
  2. How dare they tell people what's coming! In reality, there really hasn't been any marketing surrounding the 2.8 update. It was announced at Helix user appreciation event hosted by Line 6 at NAMM, so I suppose that's marketing adjacent. But other than the sticky on this forum, I don't believe you'll see any other mention of the 2.8 update on the site. There haven't been any press releases or advertising around it. It's been low key from the perspective of Line 6 pushing it. It has been users who have been posting about it... But it will be ready when it's ready, and that will be soon. Posting and complaining about is certainly going to help a developer code any faster.
  3. Yes, Helix has variable input impedance, but that will only affect your guitar's tone if you have it plugged directly into the Helix's guitar in (assuming you have passive pickups). In that scenario, your guitar's pickups are actually loaded with input impedance. When you use a wireless system, the wireless system has a low impedance output, so the input impedance doesn't really have any affect on the tone at that point. This is why effects pedals have buffered outputs - so you can drive a line of pedals without worrying about your signal being attenuated.
  4. I'm pretty sure there have been a few firmware releases that fell on a Friday...
  5. The Xvive has twice the latency of the G10... Not saying it means people will notice it, but it does add up.
  6. Not sure that having a 1,000 beta testers would be all that helpful, as that would be generating a ton of data to deal with. They simply don't have a huge team of developers to deal with something like that. I know other companies do public betas for releases, but most of those releases seem to be a lot more limited in scope, and they aren't dealing with 5 different hardware SKUs and a VST plug-in at the same time...
  7. No huge issues from what I can tell... More like getting all the details buttoned up. There’s a ton of integration in this update. There’s the L6 Link stuff with the DT amps and Powercab, and then there’s the new Variax stuff as well. When you’re testing the interaction between all those pieces of gear, there’s just a lot to look at. There's also the Native Compatibility Mode piece, which is another part where the interaction between different pieces of gear and software needs to be considered... It's probably the most ambitious HX update to date.
  8. Well, I’m just telling you what’s possible now... There’s no other options at the moment.
  9. I set up one of the footswitches on the Disaster Area Designs DMC.micro to do just that. In Utility Mode, you can program one or both of the switches to be CC Toggles, so I just have it toggle between the respective CC values for Preset and Stomp Mode.
  10. Yes, that's fine. All the VDI interface is doing is passing data back and forth from the Variax to your computer. There's no audio (or power) being passed over that connection, so you're fine to use the 1/4" outs for audio.
  11. The Spider V is going to be around for quite a while. Look at how long the Spider IV was available. The problem is that some of the online retailers have issues with their stock tracking systems that seem to mark things that are out of stock as being discontinued... There are no immediate plans to replace the V with something else.
  12. One thing regarding rolling back with the 2.8 update. Any presets or backups created with the 2.8 firmware will be incompatible with earlier firmware versions, so it really is important to remember to create a backup prior to installing the 2.8 update.
  13. It would be one thing if the manual were only being made in English, but it's available in 25 other languages as well. So it's not really just "a little effort". It's a substantial investment of time and resources.
  14. I don’t think there’s any more risk of the G10 transmitter falling out than a typical 1/4” plug. Mine feels very secure, and it takes a bit of force to get it out. I’ve read of a few guys having issues with it with specific jacks. I think that because those jacks were TRS and the ring connection was preventing the transmitter from having the same sort of secure fit in the jack. As far as active pickups, I think the issue is can be with those that use a TRS jack with a sensing circuit on the ring. That can cause noise. Sometimes simply using a female TS to male TS adapter or cable can alleviate this. It’s not an issue with the body pack systems because they all have a standard TS cable going to the guitar.
  15. It actually isn't, but glad you got it working...

    TS 1/4 outputs

The author of the manual isn't anonymous. @Digital_Igloo writes the manuals... I think they're recommending TS cables just so people don't think they need to go buy TRS cables. Most gear you'd be plugging the 1/4" outs into won't have TRS jacks, so there's a very minimal benefit of using TRS cables - perhaps some very limited common mode noise reduction, but nothing to write home about, as they say.
  17. Yep... So you have your volume pedal set up for your guitar sound, and that's fine. Just go into the Command Center and navigate to the expression pedal you're using to control that volume pedal and assign a MIDI CC command to the expression pedal. Select whatever CC# the synth uses, and then you can set the min and max values. Since you want the pedal to act in reverse for the synth, just set the min to be 127 and the max to 0 (assuming you want the pedal to sweep the entire range of whatever CC the synth uses for volume).
  18. But what you're describing is the 4CM... You can set up the 4CM so you don't have to use an FX Loop in the HX Effects, but it's kind of more of a pain. You have to create a parallel path and set the output for Path A to be panned hard left. Then set the output for Path B so that it's panned hard right. You would then connect the right input to your amp's effect send. The right output would go to your amp's effects return (your guitar would be plugged into the left input, and the left output would go to your amp's input).
  19. I don't really understand the question... Do you just want to put the HX Effects in your amp's loop? If that's the case, you don't need to use the HX Effects' loop at all.
  20. Some Guitar Centers stock the Helix Floor, and more stock the LT... Not sure if you're near any, but it's still possible to try it a brick and mortar store. You would need to be cognizant of what it's plugged into at those places. Most GCs don't do a good job at setting up good demo stations for modeling gear, unfortunately.
  21. I think the first poster you quoted was using the term "investing" as a synonym for buying Fractal's product. It's a little silly, imo, to think of buying a piece of gear as investing, as almost any piece of gear you buy is going to have a negative ROI, at least in pure financial terms.
  22. The line of sight range on the G10S is 130'. It uses the same transmitter as the original G10, but it has a stronger antenna in the receiver. The receiver also can be powered with a standard 2.1mm 9V DC power supply, so if you're planning on taking it to gigs, it's well worth the extra money, imo. The G10 transmitter can have issues with some active pickups, it just depends how they're wired and how the jack is setup. Some active systems use the ring connection as a sensing switch to power on the pickups, and I think that's why sometimes there's noise with the G10. As far as loss of high end frequency with the G10, the original G10 has Line 6's Cable Tone technology built-in - it emulates the high end roll off associated with a 10' cable. It can't be turned off (although it's not preset at the XLR output). On the G10S, it can be turned off to the 1/4" output if you like. All that being said, I typically use the G70 with my Helix rig. The G70 enables to save different scenes on the receiver, and each scene can be set to a different channel and different output. This is really nice if you use different instruments with the Helix during the same show. I have separate scenes for my electric, electric and mandolin, for instance.
