  1. If you want to create two pre and post signal chains where you can put blocks from the HXFX and the ES-8 in any order you want, it gets pretty messy... You end up using 4 of the ES-8 loops just for connecting everything together, and you would need 8 cables(!). Here's what I came up with... (cables are longer and bolded --->) The numbers I used for the ES-8's loops are just arbitrary. Guitar ---> ES-8 Input --> ES-8 Send 3 ---> HXFX input --> HXFX Send 1 ---> ES-8 Return 3 --> ES-8 Send 4 ---> Amp Input --> Amp FX Send ---> ES-8 Return 5 --> ES-8 Send 6 ---> HXFX Return 1 --> HXFX Send 2 ---> ES-8 Return 6 --> ES-8 Output ---> Amp FX Return
  2. I guess I'm confused as to what you would be using the ES-8 for... Would you still have other pedals in its loops? Are you wanting to keep the H9 and Mobius? The HX has one stereo/two mono loops. If you use the loops as two mono loops, you can put them anywhere in its internal signal chain. You can also put any effect block in the HX signal chain whereever you want.
  3. The dude has been banned (again!), so don't waste too much energy responding to him...
  4. The Shurikens seem to be pretty popular on Facebook... Forum traffic in general is down compared to social media sites, as far as I can tell.

    Helix FAQ

Yep... I guess the techie way of saying that would be to say they're all algorithmic reverbs, as opposed to specific spacial or convolution-based reverbs.

    Helix FAQ

They're not really models of anything specific. They each have different characters, though. The Plateaux is a pitch shifted shimmer modulated verb. Searchlights seems to have more of a dual phaser type of modulation. Ganymede has a panning tremolo sort of modulation thing going. Glitz is probably the most "vanilla" of them all... It seems to me to be more of a chorus type of modulation. Double Tank is a bit lighter modulation feeling as well... It has more of an underwater feeling than the other ones. Here's samples of each on that I recorded: https://soundcloud.com/phil-miller-20/sets/helix-hx-reverbs These were all recorded with pretty high mix and decay settings, so they're perhaps a bit on the over the top side.
  7. Hit the Mode footswitch to get into Stomp Mode.
  8. Sam answers that question here: https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/line6-helix.1586637/page-2391#post-25723525
  9. In a way I get that, but Native is a bit different than other plug-ins, in that it's being continuously supported in the way of free updates that add models and a bunch of other functionality. I mean, I know other plug-ins offer updates, but none quite to the scale of the Helix updates. I'm a subscriber to the Slate Digital Everything Bundle, and they've had some nice updates, but I have to pay every month, and as soon as I quite paying, I lose those plug-ins. With Native, you just pay once, and your license will be good indefinitely.
  10. Are there brackets around the pan parameter in the block? The Stereo Pan block comes in with the pan set to be controlled by EXP2 (or EXP 1 - don't quite remember). But if you have the EXP Position global setting set to "Global" the expression pedal position will override the knob setting. If you don't want the Pan block to be tied to the pedal, just go to the Contol Assign screen and change the controller for that parameter to "None". I should also add that if you simply want to adjust the panning at the end of a signal chain, adding the Pan block is kind of unnecessary. You can adjust the panning in the output block just as easily.
  11. It's been answered a ton before... DI even answered on this thread with his post. I've been telling people for two and a half years that having the ins and outs at instrument level with the input pad off and the master volume knob all the way up equals unity gain.

    HX FX Looper

    1. Not exactly sure what you're asking here... But, yes, the you can keep overdubbing for as many passes you want. The new overdubs just stack onto the previous ones. 2. It starts recording as soon as you press the overdub switch. 3. No... It's just based on the button press.
  13. That speaker belonged to the people running sound... Was just a stage monitor at the time. The L2t belongs to me.
  14. You just assign the feedback parameter on the delay to a footswitch controller. It's described on pg 42 of the manual. Just hold down the knob under the feedback parameter, and that will take you the Controller Assign screen. Hit Knob 6 for "Learn Controller" and hit the footswitch you want to assign it to. Then set the max and min values. You probably want to set the min to be the same value as you have set for the saved value in the preset. Set the max to something close to 100... Sometimes having the feedback all the way up is too uncontrollable.
  15. Yes, it's possible. Which product are you using?
  16. You're only using half of the available processing power. Each path has a dedicated processor, and all of the blocks in your preset are on Path 1. You actually have it set up for Path 1 to feed into Path 2 already, so all you have to do is move (use cut and paste) some of your blocks from Path 1 down to Path 2.
  17. Which product are you talking about?
  18. I guess I don't understand why you would want a global wet/dry control for something like Native... I mean, there's not really a global anything in Native other than the Input and Output levels. But if you want to mix in a dry path, it's pretty simple... Just use one of the parallel paths as a dry path and mix it in however you want.
  19. Never been an issue for me, I guess... I've been using pedalboards since 2000 or so, and have only ever had one issue, and that was sort of a fluke. I once had a pedalboard up on stage at an open mic, and one of the other acts was a 300lb dude who decided to dance and he completely stomped on my DL4, ripping out 2 of the 1/4" jacks. Oddly enough, no alcohol was involved...
  20. I put mine on my pedalboard...
  21. Yeah, a recall has a specific legal definition in the US, and there are different levels. Even with things that are related to life safety, they have a pretty abismal response rate. If there is a hardware issue, Line 6 will handle it on a case by case basic, I'm sure. They usually issue technical bulletins to service centers detailing the specific fix. They might offer replacement units... I guess it depends on how difficult the fix would be.
  22. It seems to me that you’ve come to your own conclusions... Being that this is the Helix users forum, I don’t think anyone here will talk you out of the LT. Honestly, I don’t necessarily have anything against Fractal. I don’t think that the people doing the modeling and sound design there have anything on the Helix team, though. It’s reallt about finding something that you like using and inspires you to play and be creative. Whatever that ends up being, what other people think of your decision is irrelevant.
  23. Have you tried restarting your computer? Beyond that, it's always worth trying another USB port and/or cable.
  24. So did you only install Line 6 Updater? Did you install the HX Effects drivers? Try downloading and installing the HX Edit installer package. That will give you the latest drivers, the newest version of Updater, and HX Edit. Than try running Updater again.
  25. OK... Do you have HX Edit open? If so, that will prevent the Updater from seeing the HXFX... Beyond that, does the HXFX show up in Device Manager?
