That's on pg 12... You hit FS3 where it says MORE...to view the additional blocks in the chain while in Pedal Edit Mode.
-
It’s on page 28. Hit the Menu button and then press the switch that says Signal Flow.
-
HX Edit will be the editor. Everything on the Helix platform will be served by the same editing software.
-
Open up a support ticket, and Line 6 will take care of you. Most likely, they will ship you a replacement and take your broken at no cost to you.
-
So you're saying you purchased Glenn's patch and you're happy with the way it sounds? It should be pretty easy to see what he does in it... I don't find the Plexis all that hard to dial in, but I can't really say I have a specific reference tone in mind.
-
I've seen complaints about the tuners on nearly every multi-effects unit ever made from some people... I mean, Line 6 will probably look at the Helix tuner, and may make some changes, but they're still not going to please everyone.

After messing with the GT-1000 at NAMM, I can't say that Line 6 should be all that concerned about it stealing Helix sales... They are very different devices. The Axe FX III, well, it's very cool and extremely powerful. It seems like the sort of device that has way more capability and depth than 95+% of guitarists would ever need. I suppose a similar statement could be said about the Helix, but the Axe FX III just seems like a more intimidating device... It lets you adjust the mic distance by a tenth of millimeter... Which I find hilarious.

The expression part will work, but the HXFX doesn't have a footswitch input like that. The HXFX does support auto-enage with expression pedals, just like the Helix does, fwiw.

Regarding the wahs, I believe the reason the wahs that were ported over from the HD series aren't in the Legacy folder is that they have been modified in the Helix version. The HD/M-series wahs only had Position and Mix parameters. In the Helix, they added the Fc Low and Fc High (Fc = Cutoff Frequency) parameters to those models.

I guess I’m confused by what you mean by “true HXâ€. The way it will work when 2.50 is released is there will be three categories in the menu for each of the different effects types - Mono, Stereo and Legacy. Anything that’s in the Legacy category was ported over from the M-series. They haven’t been upgraded or anything (although the way the mix parameter on effects where it exists works has been revised so it matches what happens with the HX effects). They sound exactly the same as they did in the M-series. Some of the effects react a little better in the Helix because they benefit from the Helix’s higher sampling rate. The Legacy synth and filter effects track faster now, for instance.

Not sure understand what you’re asking...

I messed around with this some more tonight, and I don't see the Variax parameter on the Bypass/Controller Assign tab. However, right clicking the parameter value on the Edit tab does bring up the menu that lets me select Snapshot as the controller. I'm using a beta version of the upcoming editor, so at least that seems to be fixed now.
-
Try right clicking on the parameter value itself on the Edit screen, and the menu for available controllers should pop up.

An active DI has a preamp in it to boost the signal. The signal coming from the Helix is plenty loud enough, so just use a passive one.

Line 6: seems they're missing a huge marketing segment.

Well, the car example is interesting, because most likely if you compare the same model of Chevy cars - one made in 2014, and the other made in 2018 - the newer will probably be 3-4% higher in cost, maybe more. People are generally OK with that sort of slow cost inflation when it comes to cars because 1) there are generally enough new features in the newer model that people still think it's worth their money and 2) they often spread the cost of a new car out over 4 or 5 years with car payments, so a few thousand dollars doesn't make much difference in a monthly payment. I think with modelers, $500 became something of a benchmark type of price, and if it's not possible to create a unit with the same number of features as the old one, would people still feel they were getting their money's worth? Generally, it's not the number of amp and effects models that's driving up the cost. It's the hardware stuff. Specifically, the number of ins and outs, screens, footswitches, pedals, and the like all add up. As far as why the predecessor to the HD line was the more expensive Helix, I think there are a few reasons. I think Line 6 wanted to re-establish themselves as being on the leading edge in the modeling game. It was a field they started, and they didn't want to simply cede the higher end market to Fractal and Kemper. They wanted to prove they could compete. In addition to that, the bottom part of the market was and is becoming more saturated all the time. You have people like Zoom, Mooer and other import brands releasing low priced modelers with bigger feature lists that lure some customers away. Personally, the cheap stuff with a lot of features is kind of the equivalent of dining at Golden Corral, imo, but, hey, that's what some people want... So I think Line 6 was like, "well, let's try making a new market", in a way. -

Well, there's also the Helix LT for $1000, which offers all the same modeling as the full Helix. And it's not too hard to find discounts on that price, either. The guys at Line 6 have basically said that it would be impossible for them to design and make the HD500X today and still sell it for $500. They're able to sell it currently at that price because they're contracts with suppliers and labor were negotiated quite awhile ago when prices were low. But now, the cost of material and especially labor has risen to the point to where making a $500 unit would actually mean cutting features compared to the HD500X. -
I can't say I've seen this sort of thing being reported... Since you have a new unit, I'd recommend doing a factory reset if you haven't. Hold down footswitches 9 and 10 while powering up, and that will reset everything. If you've created any presets that you want to keep, make sure your back them up with HX Edit prior to doing the reset procedure. Out of curiosity, have you happened to import any third party presets since you've been using your LT?

I think you'll be very happy with the new reverbs...

I guess I was in an 80s mood when I recorded this... All the guitars are done with the Cartographer amp... Using a single preset, actually. Most of the guitars are my JTV69US, although the lead track is my American Deluxe Fat Strat. It kind of ended up sounding like the soundtrack for an old Sega game, but I had fun recording it... https://soundcloud.com/phil-miller-20/disintegration

Try using a different USB port if possible. This actually seems to be the fix for this more often than not.
-
You don't have to change tabs... You just right click on the parameter value from the Edit screen and the controller menu pops up.
-
Global Settings>Ins/Outs, "USB 1/2 Input Trim" will adjust the level of the audio coming from your computer.
-
Yes, it's possible. They're aren't really any dedicated bass amps in the AMPLIFi, though... There's the Fender Bassman which is kind of a bass amp, and that works OK for bass. The Tube Preamp model works OK as well. I've used my 150 with bass, and it was OK for my needs at the time. I wouldn't plan to use with a bass with a loud band, though. For practice or jamming at home, it's OK.
