  1. Open a support ticket, and CS will take care of it for you: http://line6.com/support/tickets/add.html The lifetime devices thing is anti-piracy measure, and not meant to limit the installs of actual owners. They will reset it for you as long as it's registered to your account.
  2. Not really sure I understand the issue you're having. As long as you have the mic input selected in the input block, all the effects block in the chain will apply to that input.
  3. With the auto-engage feature, you could easily set up the expression pedal to act like a momentary switch. Just set the auto on position to be something near the toe, and the effect will come when you're there and go off when you go past it again.
  4. CC stands for "continuous controller". Typing CCs are used to control a parameter with a range of values. It gives you a way to control that parameter remotely. A very typical scenario would be a MIDI volume pedal for a keyboard. The pedal is sending a stream of values for the volume, depending on its position. There's always a specific value associate with a CC command. The reason the Helix limits you to not changing the CC#, and just the value, per snapshot is that is kind of the typical architecture with CCs. When you select a CC# for an instant command, you're typically controlling one parameter in an external effect or whatever you're controlling, and the Helix lets you send a different value for that parameter with each snapshot change. Looking at the manual for the Control Switcher, I'd say you be much better off setting it up to respond to PCs. You can select a different PC for each snapshot. So you could what you want to do while only using one of the Instant Command locations. PC means "program change", and that really is more analogous to what you're wanting to do here.
  5. With MIDI CCs, you can send out different values for each respective Instant Command per snapshot, but you can't change the CC# itself. So, if you set CC#80 with a value of 0 for Snapshot 1, you can set CC#80 with a value of 1 (or whatever) for Snapshot 2, 2 for Snapshot 3, etc. The values are only shot out when you're coming from a snapshot that has a different value selected than the one in the new snapshot. What exactly is the Voodoo Lab switcher looking for in terms of CCs and values?
  6. On the Helix Floor and Rack, there are 7 analog inputs - guitar in, aux in, XLR in, and the (4) 1/4" returns (they can all be used as inputs). There's also the S/PDIF input and the VDI input (only one of those can be used at a time), so that gives you the 8 inputs.
  7. So i take it the first post I quoted is your new account... No one is spying on you... It's simply forum protocol that every member''s first post on the forum has to be approved by a moderator before it shows up. It's an anti-spam measure. There are actually quite a few bots that try posting here, so this prevents those posts from filling up the forums with posts with a bunch of links to Russian gambling sites and whatnot.
  8. The look of #2 is the current default theme of the forum. In the lower right hand corner of the page in the main forum view, there's a link that let's you change the theme. The red one of #1 is one of the selections. I'm not sure why it changes sometimes on its own, but it's certainly no conspiracy, just a quirk of the forum software.
  9. The license will give you access to whatever updates the software receives over its lifetime. There is no hardware dongle required.
  10. The software license will be independent of the hardware. If you sell your Helix, the person who buys it from you won't be able to get the software for a discount. Also, I believe the software license is going to be non-transferable.
  11. Not modeled after any specific effect... It's just Line 6's take on a noise gate.
  12. You can control nearly everything with MIDI, and actually, since you'll have the floor, you'll still be able to use the capacitive touch switches on the unit itself... The main difference with using a MIDI controller compared to the actual unit itself is that you won't be able to change modes in the same way, although, if you're just using snapshots and presets, that may not matter. The thing that I would miss the visual feedback of the scribble strips. Using controllers without them almost seems barbaric. :)
  13. Stop the ride, I'm gonna barf! Sheesh, this thread...
  14. Yeah, the Helix editor doesn't work at all without a Helix attached.
  15. My board is pretty sweet and simple with the Helix... Snapshots and the ability to tie MIDI CCs to controllers really does make it feel like the Strymon pedals are part of Helix in this setup.
  16. That comment was made prior to the 2.0 update, which made the tuner display more granular.

    Tap Tempo-MIDI

You don't want to use a CC toggle. You just send out a CC command with a value between 64 and 127, and every time the Helix sees that command, it's like your stepping on the tap tempo switch once.
  18. Well, I don't know if controversial is the right word... I don't really think it's all that unusual for there to be a feature in a product that is perfectly acceptable to some users but annoying/unusable to other users. As far as tuners, I have read complaints about tuners on nearly every Line 6 product over the years here. There were always some people who found them perfectly acceptable and others who hated them. Perhaps it's become a little more heated with the Helix because there's a bug colorful display for the tuner, so if people don't like the tuner, they feel more like they being cheated out of something. I don't know... Of all the feature on the Helix, the tuner is probably one of the ones I care about the least to be honest. It's like the cupholder on my car... I suppose if I my cups were always too big the cupholder, I'd be irritated. :)
  19. I'm confused to what you mean when you saying "act more like the M-series pedals"... In what way do you mean? The Helix gives a ton more visual feedback than any of the M-series pedals.
  20. Two of those ideas were started before the tuner was updated in the 2.0 firmware. Prior to that, people were complaining that the tuner wasn't granular enough.
  21. Your external pedal should continue to work in this situation. It sounds like you still have the bypass state of the volume block assigned to the EXP TOE switch. Just remove that assignment, and you'll be good to go.

    Where is Native?

Native and the hardware sound identical to me...

    Where is Native?

The issue with something highly specialized like the sort of DSP sound design in the Helix is that there simply aren't that many people in the world who do it. Even if they want to hire someone (which I believe they do), it can take a long time to find the right person. And even if you do, it's not like they can start and necessarily jump right in... The company I work for, which also does highly specialized stuff, has the same problem. We need to hire people, but there simply aren't a ton of qualified people out there, and hiring someone just to have to train doesn't really solve the problem. It actually makes it worse in the short term.
