Dt-25 Effects Loop Bypassed When Using Xlr Out?
phil_m replied to tankaviator's topic in DT50 / DT25
Fwiw, having the master volume before the effects loop isn't all that uncommon. I used to have an Egnater Tweaker and I still have an Egnater Renegade, and both of them are like this, too. I also think it's common in Fender amps with effects loops. The preamp is there to regulate the volume into the power section. I think guitarists are taught to think that the drive or gain control is the preamp volume and the master volume is the power amp volume. In practice, that's not a bad way to think about it, but the reality is, I believe, that tube power sections are always running at full open. How hard they are pushed depends on how hot the signal is going into them. As far as why Line 6 "unlocked" the master volume on the HD500 in the latest update, it was purely for convenience. It just gave people a way to adjust the volume on the HD500 instead of walking back to the amp. -
Dt-25 Effects Loop Bypassed When Using Xlr Out?

It does work that way... The master volume has no effect on the power section output. It's easy to prove. Simply plug something into the effects return. The master volume knob doesn't do anything when you do that. So going into the effects return plugs you into the power amp with the power amp full open. The master volume attenuates the input going into the power amp. This is the same way the Spider Valve amps work. The channel volume is simply that. It controls the volume of each channel in the preamp. The master volume is the overall preamp volume. -

I'd be to curious to know how you're planning to go about it. The thing it takes more than just a hardware mod to make that work. It would also take a modification to the firmware. Because of the way the M9 handles stereo ins and outs, I don't think it's really feasible to do this sort of modification yourself.

To put a finer point on the earlier comment, the M13's power supply, the PX-2, is rated at 2000mA, and the M13 seems to consistently draw around 1300mA. The overall rating of the Powertrain is only 1250mA. More importantly, the M13 only runs on 9V AC power, not DC. So no dice on using this with the M13.

It's not really a weird question, but, no, the M9 can't do this.

The M5 is definitely a true bypass pedal. The easiest way to prove it is to run a signal through it while it's turned off. It still passes signal - in true bypass mode the bypass path is just an analog connection from the input to the output. You're hearing the popping when switching the effect on because the relay is switching over from the bypass signal path. It's not necessarily uncommon with true bypass pedals. As far as the effect being louder than the bypassed signal, there are a few effect which cause this. That really doesn't have anything to do with whether you have it set to true bypass or not.

Well, you weren't clear about that. One thing I always do when using my UX2 is to make sure my internal sound card is disabled. I also disable my wireless network adapter. Those seems to be the most common sources of conflict that lead to unwanted noise.

I answered your post here: http://line6.com/support/topic/5843-whats-wrong-with-ux1/

Well, ASIO4ALL isn't a supported Line 6 driver. A lot of people have reported having problems while using it. I'd recommend running Line 6 Monkey and making sure you have all the latest Line 6 drivers installed.
-
Shouldn't be a problem in doing that. The one thing is you'll probably get some extraneous noise coming out of your amp by having the USB and 1/4" outs connected at the same time. This shouldn't be a huge issue if you're just editing tones, though.

Can I Stop The Amp From Changing The Tone With Each Song?
phil_m replied to Carlos_Danger's topic in AMPLIFi
In the app, if you hit the little menu icon up in the upper left hand corner of the screen, the menu should come up. At the bottom is "Settings". Hit that, and at the bottom of that menu, under "Options", you can hit the little toggle to turn Auto Tone Loading off. -
Don't have any inside information, but I wouldn't hold my breath on any further development on the existing M-series pedals. The M13 has been on the market for over 5 years, and the M9 just a little bit less. There haven't been any updates for a few years now, so I can't see them starting up again.

What you're doing now is the way to do it.

That makes sense. The master volume is essentially the volume control for the preamp section. -

In standby mode, yes, the effects loop is bypassed, and the direct out gives you just the signal from the preamp. If you have standby off, whatever you have in the effects loop should be present in the XLR out. -
Need Some Guidance For My Jtv Purchase
phil_m replied to DMKA1's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Well, the Variax is kind of like any other electric guitar in that sense. There's no DAW integration because there's nothing to integrate. You have to either use the 1/4" output to plug into an amp or modeler to record that way, or you can use the VDI output with a POD if you like. It doesn't really make a whole lot of difference as far as recording with a DAW is concerned. -
Need Some Guidance For My Jtv Purchase
phil_m replied to DMKA1's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
The only difference is the pickups. Pricing differences are probably just dependent on dealers trying to move stock of certain models faster. Modeling is the same. The tones may be slightly different simply because of the physical difference between the 69 and 59, but there is no difference in the modeling. Those are the finishes. CAR = Candy Apple Red 3TS = 3-tone Sunburst TSB = Tobacco Sunburst The P, if it's the 59P refers to the P90 version as opposed to the humbucker version. -
What are you hoping to do with the looper? The JM4 does a lot more than just looping. It gives you the ability to play backing tracks, and it has on-board amp modeling and effects. If you don't need all those options, there are less expensive options available to you.

The thing about Google is it's self-correcting. If enough people eventually, as more and more people talk about the product, and it's available for sale on various website, Google's algorithms will stop auto-correcting the search. It's actually already doing that because even though it wants to auto-complete to "Line 6 amplifier" if you search for "Line 6 Amplifi", it searches for that, and doesn't auto-correct the search. Line 6 is a business, and they've been doing this for a while. They're the one's risking their name and reputation on the product. It is what it is. You like it or you don't. It's not like they kicked your dog.

The thing is that with a word like "Pro" used as a descriptor there is no standard, agreed upon meaning. It's like when food companies use the word "natural" or "wholesome". They literally mean whatever the customer wants them to mean. The FDA doesn't have a standard that says that the product has to meet certain criteria in order for those words to be used.

You should be able to stream any audio from your iPad via Bluetooth as long as you have the amp paired with it. I do make a lot of posts here, but unfortunately, I don't know the answer to why you can't play that music. Are they songs that you ripped from CDs, bought from iTunes, or something else?

I don't believe there is a shuffle feature in the Amplifi app. If you're just playing music and not playing guitar at the same time, I guess if you want to shuffle things, you'd have to use the Apple music app.
