  1. I've never really noticed a lag in selecting pickup positions. I suppose there might be a little gap that could be noticeable in certain circumstances, but I've never had any issues with it. I'm talking pre the latest update. I'm not sure if it's changed with the new update or not.
  2. You may be better off starting a new thread. The short answer to your question, though, is to go into the editor function in the app (assuming you're already connected via Bluetooth), and go and toggle any effects that are turned on off. Apart from using the FBV Shortboard controller, there's no other way to bypass the effects. You can't do from the amp standalone. If you want to save some dry amp tones in the onboard presets, you can do that in the app by using the "Save to Hardware" option once you have a tone you like.
  3. The short answer is that you can do what you're talking about, but the longer answer is that it might not work in a way that's entirely useful for you. The M13 sends MIDI commands that mirror whatever you do on it. So if you select a scene on the first M13, the same scene will be selected on the second one. In that scene, if you turn an effect on or off in the first M13, whatever effect is in that slot on the second M13 will be toggled. If tap in a tempo on the first one, the tempo will be controlled on the second one as well. The one thing I'm not entirely sure about is the looper. I don't remember if MIDI commands are sent from the M13 in looper mode or not. The basic thing is that the M13 wasn't really meant to be a MIDI controller, at least not much of one. From a MIDI perspective, it was designed more to be controlled by a MIDI controller.
  4. What version of Workbench are you trying to use and just as important what firmware is your JTV running. Workbench HD will only work with the 2.0 firmware and above, and the old version of Workbench will only work with pre 2.0 firmware. Also, what are you using as an interface? If you're using the Workbench interface, you need to have a 1/4" cable plugged into the guitar in order for it to turn on.
  5. They save the Line 6 Porsche 911s for those in the Expert User program... I wasn't supposed to tell, but I feel bad...
  6. If you're doing the update with a POD, no, you don't need to have the battery in.
  7. The 150 is certainly loud enough for me to gig with, and that's not playing folk music or with a quiet drummer, either. I think most guitarists are using rigs that are too powerful for most spaces they play in, to be honest.
  8. You have to put the Volume Pedal effect in one of the effects slots in your scene and assign the expression pedal accordingly. The bad thing is that it uses one of your slots in that scene. If you want to be able to control the volume all the time with a pedal, I personally think you're better off getting a dedicated volume pedal and not tying up an effects slot all the time.
  9. Solid state amps generally don't care about output impedance until you reach a minimum threshold. Below that is when you get into conditions that are similar to a short circuit, and that can damage the output transistors. It's pretty much the opposite of the way valve amps behave. If you connect a higher impedance load to a tube amp, you can shorten the life of the tubes and damage the output transformer if you get too high.
  10. If you were the original purchaser of the model pack, the model pack will be tied to your account, and really that's the key. The model packs are tied to your account, not the specific device. After you buy Pod Farm 2.5, you'll be able to authorize it to use the Metal Shop pack. It kind of covers it here: http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/general-faq/model-packs-licenses-faq-r490
  11. As far as a device doing a similar job as the JM4, I'd say it depends on what you are planning to use the JM4 for. If you want it as a practice tool, something like one of the Amplifi products might work well for you. If you're using it more for looping, Line 6 doesn't have any dedicated looping products. There are a number that have loopers, though.
  12. The funny thing is that one of these pedal is designed to emulate a particular amp, and then the other two are designed to be very "amp like". I think Line 6's perspective is probably that emulating more overdrive and distortions might be a bit redundant if those pedals are designed with the intent to emulate amps they already model. Not trying to discourage suggestions... Just sharing an observation. Personally, I'm something of an OD, distortion and fuzz junky. I have too many. It would be nice if there was a bit more versatile fuzz. Something like the Black Arts Toneworks Pharaoh would be cool.
  13. I'm not entirely clear what you're asking. Are you asking if Line 6 is going to be releasing anymore firmware updates for the JM4? Like you said, it's been over four years since the last one, so I would be doubtful that there's any planned. But the JM4 is still being supported in the sense that Line 6 will provide service and support for it, and the warranty will still be honored (actually, Line 6 will still honor the warranty of a discontinued product if it was bought new from a dealer). As far as the card, have you tried reformatting it yourself, or you did you buy one that was formatted to FAT16 already? In any case, I'd try reformatting it again.
  14. It sounds like it would either be an issue with the M9's right input jack or the cable going into the jack. If you've already checked the cable, then I guess it's the jack. Most of the effects on the M9 aren't true stereo. Even if you have a stereo input, the left and right inputs are summed to mono before the effect is applied, and then the effect outputs in stereo. So even if you didn't have an input signal from the right side, that would explain why you get an output on the right for some effects and not others.
  15. So when everything is bypassed you never get signal from the right side?
  16. Are you sure it's not a bad cable? I'm still not clear as to whether you're saying you never get signal from the right channel when bypassed, or if it's an intermittent problem.
  17. So is it only the Analog Delay effect that you're noticing this happening on, or is it others in addition to that. There are a few effects in which the left side is dry and the right side is wet (or vice versa), and I kind of remember the Analog Delay model being this way. So if you had it setup where you had the delay mix set high, I could see it being possible that the dry signal coming out of the left side could be a lot lower than what's coming out of the right side.
  18. Not really... It's the interface. The cheaper ones use the default Windows or Mac MIDI drivers, and they simply can't handle the streaming of large sysex files very well. I've heard the same thing from other companies who do firmware updates via MIDI. They all recommend using an interface with robust drivers that can handle the sysex streaming.
  19. +1 to what Zap said. When you connect via USB, the HD Pro becomes your computer's soundcard, so that being the case, it becomes the default input and output device. You need to hook headphones or speakers up to the HD Pro to hear it.
  20. Yes, the master volume is an actual analog potentiometer. All of the other knobs are digital encoders.
  21. Where are you seeing the HD500X for $100 off? I've looked at all the usual suspects, and it's still seems to be $499 everywhere I look.
  22. There's no reason that couldn't be done. If you do it, the internal speakers will be bypassed, so you'd be carrying around a rather large piece of equipment just to be using it as a preamp. You'd be better off going with the FX100 if you wanted to regularly do this.
  23. The HD500X (the only current floor version of the POD) is definitely more suited to live playing than the Amplifi, imo. It's not that you couldn't use the FX100 playing live, the HD500X is going to be much more flexible and easier to edit on the fly.
