  1. Is there a default Android music app? That's one reason I could think of that might be different. The Amplifi app on iOS is piggybacking off the library in the Apple "Music" app. Perhaps there's less uniformity in the way Android handle music files across all of its devices.
  2. I don't see the big deal... It's not like he offered any info that was new or groundbreaking. All he did was make a brief comment about the app.
  3. The more blinking lights I can have in my rig, the better... Makes me feel like I'm flying a spaceship! B)
  4. Line 6 won't give schematics out to anyone but authorized service centers.
  5. Probably not a lot you can do. I imagine that they never thought that the fine tune feature would be something that people would be using a lot in a live situation.
  6. Well, it's been officially announced... I believe it's scheduled to start shipping in May.
  7. If you want the M13 to receive commands from the controller, it has to be set to the same channel as the controller. Or you could set the M13 to "Omni", which would mean it receives commands from all channels.
  8. This is expected behavior. This functionality (the HD500 master volume being active while connected via L6 Link) was added in the last HD500 update. The manual was never updated, I guess. You just have to set both wherever they work best for you.
  9. Yes it is. You can assign the expression pedal(s) to control the playback and overdub levels. This is in one of the setup menus.
  10. Well, there's also the trem springs. You do lose some tension going from 10s to 9s, so the claws for the springs may need to be loosened a bit, too.
  11. Well, virtual capo and alternate tuning are really the same thing in the most basic sense. So, yeah, that's totally possible. The thing that's different with the JTV compared to the original Variax is that the alternate tuning feature can be used without having to edit the model in Workbench. There are number of ways to do what you want to do.
  12. The UX1 acts as your computer's soundcard when you hook it up. You won't hear anything from the onboard speakers. You need to either connect speakers or headphones to the UX1 itself to hear anything.
  13. I've never heard of anyone being warned against changing the string gauge as far is pertains to the warranty coverage. Changing sting gauge can affect the way the modeling sounds, for sure, but there's no reason someone should be afraid of switching gauges as far as I know.
  14. No, the FX100 is more like a POD. You could use for FX only if you wanted, but it does amp and cab modeling as well. So, really, it's a solution for going direct. As far as using an existing amp with the tone-matching features. I'm actually not sure if there are different output modes like there are on the PODs or not that would allow you to use amp modeling while attached to an actual amp. I would assume there will be, but I just don't know.
  15. Well, that doesn't match my experience at all. The Tele bridge position is pretty hot. It's not as hot as the Les Paul bridge, for sure. Compared to the magnetics, I'd say that most of the models are probably a tad louder than the magnetics. A few are quieter. The Jazzbox models are the quietest models on mine.
  16. When you plug the HD500X into your computer, it becomes your computer's soundcard. So you won't hear anything from your onboard speakers. You'll need to plug headphones or speakers into the HD500X to hear anything.
  17. Nope... There's some overlap, but most of the effects are different. The effects are the same as POD Farm and the X3 series, for all intents and purposes. Although, there are some difference in the way the effects respond. For instance, the one clip I made and put up her, I made a delay go into a smooth self-oscillation. That was something you could never do with the XT or X3. I'm not so sure if POD Farm would do that or not.
  18. The Strat model itself was never broken in and of itself. The only way the bug shows up is if you connect to Workbench and try to load a model back on the guitar. If you don't connect to Workbench, there's nothing inherently wrong with the model. It is different than the earlier model, and this really bothers some people. But that isn't the bug. I'm just saying this because I don't want people to have the impression the model that comes through in the 2.0 update is going to be changed. It's not. What needs to be fixed is the issue in Workbench.
  19. Well, whether or not vinyl sounds better than CD can be debated. That all comes down to subjective experience, and there's not much point in arguing that. But from a technical perspective, the CD medium has more dynamic range than vinyl, and can deliver a better frequency response. A lot of it comes down to mastering. Recent mastering techniques have taken the dynamics out of music, and that makes music suck regardless of medium. Personally, when it comes to Pono, I'm not sold on the idea that a good CD is going to sound a whole lot worse than a hi res audio file. I also am not interested in switching to a format where each album is over 1GB. My prediction is that Pono may gain some early interest through this Kickstarter campaign (their goal of $800K was kind of laughably low, if you ask me), but I do not think it's going to make a big impact on the market in general.
  20. With POD Farm 2.5, you can actually use whatever audio interface you want. The FBV Shortboard isn't an audio interface, though. I actually doesn't have any audio functions at all.
  21. It won't be able to control the 75 or 150. It's a standalone pedal.
  22. Someone reminded me via PM that they wanted the screenshots for the "Swirly Twin" tone I used here. Here they are. I apologize for the delay (no pun intended...) :P In the part where I do the self-oscillation thing, I was simply maxing out the feedback parameter on the app in real-time.
  23. If you have reverb as the last effect in the chain (as a lot of tones do), you will lose stereo separation. The truth is, though, even with stereo effects, it is kind of hard to notice a huge stereo field. It's still a single cabinet. It's more noticeable through the headphones.
  24. Your theory would only make sense if Workbench HD worked on the HD500X and not the HD500. It doesn't work with either of them.
  25. I'd say the guys answering the support tickets are probably not in the loop as far as what is planned for the product lines. Their job is pretty specific - help people get their problems solved whether that be in the way of warranty repair, replacement, or whatever.
