Yes, really. Btw, I'm not even referring to you. You bought the product, and have specific issues with it. That's not whining. What I'm talking about is people who have no intention of buying it or no interest in buying it. They need to build a bridge and get over it.
-
Haha... who's getting defensive? It seemed to me you were getting defensive... And by "move on", that's what I mean. If Line 6 made a product that doesn't appeal to a particular individual they need to quit whining about it. I'm not in the sales business, so it's not my job to coddle people or convince to buy something they don't want. If someone doesn't want or need this particular product, that's just fine. I don't understand why they'd spend their time belittling the product and as an extension of doing that, belittling the people who actually do like it.
-
Well, I wasn't even responding to you. I was responding to the person I quoted, who, btw, seems to have taken up bashing this product release as a new hobby. Which, I guess is his right to do. All I was saying is I don't understand it. Line 6 makes a lot of products I have no interest in owning. They fill a niche in market, though, and Line 6 is trying to sell products to as many different people as possible. This particular seems to have polarized people in a way I've not seen before. It's just odd.

I read Charly's statement as saying he doesn't have the hum, so what you're experiencing isn't necessarily expected behavior - nothing more, nothing less. I actually thought he was trying to be helpful.
-
What I've seen is the Pilot's Guide, which I assume is what comes with the amp. I'm not sure why Line 6 hasn't posted the PDF of it up yet. I don't know if they're planning on a more in-depth manual or not.

I really don't understand being personally offended by what a company decides to build and sell. If you don't like it, don't buy it. Move on. There's a lot of companies in the modeling game right now making a lot of products. I just don't understand what good it does to focus so much on this product. What if this ends up selling really well for Line 6? Will they still be stupid for making something people want?

That's standard operating procedure. I had to go through the same thing.

The Amplifi app only can play songs that are actually downloaded to your iPad or iPhone. So, if you're using iTunes Match, you might have a bunch of songs that show up in the app that you can't play. To get them to play, you have to go into the Apple Music app and play or download those songs. Then when you go back into the Amplifi app, they'll play and the app will search automatically for tone matches.

Can Guitar Center Do Service Work In Jtv?
phil_m replied to chuskey's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Well, if they aren't listed as a service center, than, no, they won't be able to do service work associated with a warranty repair. If there's not a service center near you, than contacting Line 6 directly is the way to go about it.- 32 replies

There are plenty of people using modeling live now. I don't agree that "it's just not yet". It's here. The fact that people don't use it can be for a multitude of reasons. The force of habit is a large one. I'd also say that the Line 6 did a great deal to address people's concerns with durability concerns with the HD500X. It's possible to break anything, of course. I always wonder what people do with gear when the complain about it not being "roadworthy" or whatnot.
-
Not that I can think of. It's weird that whoever built the amp would go to the trouble of putting the power amp in jack and not put a preamp out. I would think it wouldn't have been much more work to add that. Probably you're best bet is taking it to a qualified tech and having him add that jack. Should be a relatively simply mod.

They're balanced. All the 1/4" outputs on the PODs in the bean form factor are balanced. As far as schematics, Line 6 hasn't released any. You can check this thread out, though. Everything that's said here applies to the Bean as well. http://line6.com/support/topic/2033-pod-hd-500-500x-new-routing-schematics/?hl=routing

Actually, unless you have the delay time set quarter notes, this isn't true. If you have the delay set to sixteenth notes, for example, the tap light will only blink once for every for every four delay repeats. The tap tempo indicates the BPM saved with the tone. So when you select a note value for the delay time or time parameter in any other time-based effect, those parameters will be tied to whatever BPM you tap in.
-
Well, yeah, that is how it works. It's not a secret. The app searches the tone database based on title, artist, and genre and gives you back possible tones that might work. As far as where the tones came from, I'd say it's probably a combination of tones Line 6 had as factory settings from the Spider IV and X3 products as well as existing CustomTone patches.

Yep... I said DMX, but essentially DMX and AES/EBU are using the same spec for cables, I believe. They're both 110 ohm, I know. And actually, I think a lot of manufacturers dual label their cables DMX & AES/EBU.

Jtv 59-69 Comparison (59 Is More Bassy)
phil_m replied to anto99's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
I imagine the fact that the 69 has a floating trem system while the 59 is a fixed bridge guitar has a lot to do with the tonal differences. Also, they have different scale lengths, as well. -
Well, I suppose you could pan everything hard left or right in the control panel for your laptop's internal soundcard. Honestly, though, I've got to tell you that everything you're talking about doing here sounds kind of, well, jenky. Why not just do it the right way? Plug you're laptop into its own direct box going to the PA and be done with it.

What are you using the laptop for? Playing loops or backing tracks of some sort? The only way it would work is if the audio you playing from the laptop was mono. The POD HD is limited to having two outputs - left and right. So you'd be using one output for the bass and the other output for the audio from the laptop. Beyond that, though, I suspect that you might run into some pretty annoying noise issues in the way of ground loops.

The L6 Link sold by Line 6 is a re-branded DMX cable. The HD500 doesn't come with it. So any DMX cable you get will work. Like any cable, quality varies greatly depending on how its constructed. I personally like the cables with Neutrik ends as they tend to be a bit more durable. You can also use a regular mic cable. Just going from your HD500 to DT50, you'll probably be OK. Over longer runs, you could run into some noise issues, though. Even though the pin configurations are the same for a DMX and mic cable, the cable construction is different and they have different impedance ratings.

Regarding songs and iTune Match, I was playing around with the app some more today, and I figured out that there is a relatively easy workaround. If you play or download the songs in the regular Music app, you can then play and have them automatically matched in the Amplifi app. So, yes, the songs have to be downloaded to your phone, but you can still have the iTunes Match feature on and use the app. Other may have already figured this out, but I just wanted to state it explicitly to clear things up.
-
I'm gonna say I find that hard to believe. I can't comment on the Amplifi's volume, but I'm just saying I'm skeptical that a 15W solid state amp is going to significantly outperform either of these. I used to have one of the little Vox modeling amps. It wasn't that loud.
-
You can do that. You don't have to have the song in order to load a certain tone. You can search for whatever song you want. If you have the song in your library, though, the app searches automatically for you. You can still do a manual search, though. As far as why the app can't play songs not actually saved to the device, I imagine that might be a restriction with the way Apple's license works with the iTunes Match service and third parties accessing those songs. I don't have anything to confirm that. That's just my suspicion.

Do you have the delay after the amp model in the chain? Only post effects are processed through the smaller speakers.
-
From a basic electrical perspective, the reason you're getting shocked is because the mic and your guitar are at different voltage potentials. This can happen for a few reasons, but one the most common ones is that the circuits the PA system and the guitar amp, or in this case the HD Pro. So if possible, it's best if everything can be plugged into one circuit. If that's not possible, then all the circuits serving the stage and the PA should share a common ground. If this isn't the case, though, there's not a lot you can do about it. But it really doesn't have anything to do with the HD Pro not using a grounded plug.
