The license you get with the X3 is for the plug-in only, not for the standalone version. As far as getting the plug-in to show up in Ableton, I'm not sure how you do it, but most DAW will either search for plug-ins automatically, or you can manually load them if that doesn't work.

Well, I don't think it's meant as replacement for those products, really. It's it's own thing. But I could see that it's kind of targeted at that same demographic.

Personally, I find the Amplfi to be much more user-friendly than the Spider, and it sounds a lot better. As far as the amp having bugs, I can't say that I've seen anything that seems too problematic. There are few minor confirmed bugs, but nothing that should really impact the use of the amp too much.

2.0 It's Been A While
phil_m replied to Melissiah's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
The JTV was announced in March 2010. It took a while for them to start shipping then. The HD500 was released in September 2010. But in case, I don' expect them to be discontinued anytime soon. -
When Was The Last Time You Used A Guitar Amplifier Without Hd500?
phil_m replied to medbad5150's topic in POD HD
I should also add that one of the best thing about the Variax is that the piezos aren't subject to EMF interference like magnetic pickups are. The piezos are dead quiet. -
When Was The Last Time You Used A Guitar Amplifier Without Hd500?
phil_m replied to medbad5150's topic in POD HD
Personally, I hate noise gates. I never use them. I don't know where it was anymore, but I read or heard an interview with The Edge, and he said that he would rather deal with noisy pickups than have a noise gate destroying his signal. That's kind of my feeling. I've never played through that I felt didn't affect sustain in a negative way. -
What Should I Buy: Jtv Or Prs Guitar? (i Own A Hd500x)
phil_m replied to LutherDeLorme's topic in POD HD
The PRS SE series guitars are actually built in the same factory as the Korean JTVs. I used to have a PRS Mira. It was a nice guitar. Played very well, but I never played it enough to justify keeping it. I was not a huge fan of the pickups. I've found that it had a brightness that I didn't really like. I don't mind bright guitars, but I guess I like more vintage sounding humbuckers. I also briefly had an SE Singlecut semi-hollow that had P90s. Again, it played very well, but I sold it. My JTV69, on the other hand, is now my main guitar. -
Well, the POD HD Pro isn't listed on either of the incompatibility lists. The HD you see there is referring to the Flextone HD - a head version of the Flextone amp. Line 6 has used the "HD" moniker for other product lines not associated with the PODs. The FBV Shortboard and the FBV "longboard" will work with the HD Pro X, although the longboard will have quite a few switches that don't do anything.

Yes, you can use more than one dirt at a time. There are "wild card" three effects blocks in each tone that can be changed to whatever type of effect you want in the Drive and Dynamics, Mods, Delays, and Filters, Synths, and Pitch categories. When you click on an effect block, you click on the little icon to the left of the effect name, and that takes back to a menu that lets you change the effect. Above that menu, you'll see the word "Type". If you click on that, it brings up the four different categories. So you can put whatever type of effect you want any of the three slots.

I'm slightly confused. Do you have the headphones plugged into the POD or into your interface?

Lots Of Problems Reported, Will Yamaha Help To Correct?
phil_m replied to McLenison's topic in Line 6 Lounge
I have to say that this hasn't been my experience. Not just with Line 6 but with other manufacturers, too. I'm not just speaking from personal experience but from working on the retail side of things. Some manufacturers are better than others when it comes to having a good process down, and I have seen a few cases of people getting lost in the shuffle. But I don't believe that most people in the industry are looking for ways to screw their customers. -
Going From 2.00 Back To 1.17 Firmware On Mkii 212...help Please
phil_m replied to rox280s's topic in Spider Valve
A factory reset won't change the firmware version. It just sets everything back to the default presets. -
Have all you seen this Knowledge Base page? It addresses the BT connectivity. http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/amplifiers/ampl/amplififaq

Variax Jtv69s Workbench Hd Error
phil_m replied to pete001's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Are you sure you have the 2.0 firmware on the guitar? If you have an earlier firmware version, Workbench HD won't work with it. -
What I meant is that if I try to mess around with other apps, I can get skipping pretty easily. Depending on how far away I am from the amp, I can get it to skip by just moving the phone sometimes. But if I just set the phone down, I've never had it skip on its own. And I've actually gotten it to work pretty consistently from relatively far away - 10 to 15 feet, I'd say. Do you have a case on your phone? I think some cases are known to better than others as far as affecting BT streaming.
-
With my iPhone 5s, if I try to anything with the phone while streaming music, I can pretty easily get skips. It's just a limitation of the phone's Bluetooth streaming capability. It doesn't really have anything to do with the amp itself.
-
This is your problem. The reverb blocks will sum a stereo input to mono, then apply the effect and output stereo. So any stereo separation you had will be lost.
-
You have to make sure you have the parameter for the global/preset input setting set to preset on page 3 in the setup menu. After that, you just set your inputs however you want them on each preset and save the preset after you set them.

Jtv 69 Shoreline Gold?
phil_m replied to zenithvk's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Is it a 69 or a 69S? Shoreline Gold is one of the finish choices for the Korean 69S, but it's not available for the Korean 69. It is available for the US 69, though. I do see what you mean, though, about it not showing up on the website. I don't think they discontinued that finish for the 69S, but I'm not sure. It looks like it's still available at retailers. http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/JTV69SSG?device=c&network=g&matchtype=&gclid=CP7W6qSY9LwCFewRMwod0SQAzw -
The app doesn't process the guitar tone at all. That's all done in the amp. You can open up the app and see the editor functions, and you can play songs from your music library (as long as the songs reside on your phone's physical drive).

The list of compatible devices is as follows: · iPhone 5s · iPhone 5c · iPhone 5 · iPhone 4s · iPhone 4 · iPad 4th gen · iPad 3rd gen · iPad 2 · iPad mini · iPod 5th gen If you talking about getting something new, a 5th generation iPod Touch is probably going to be the least expensive option. They go for about $225. Other than that, you could probably pick up one of the older iPad or iPad Minis used for cheaper. Or as mentioned above, a new iPad Mini might be more useful overall. It really depends on how much you'll think you use the device.

Pod 2.0 Fbv Version Modelling Volume Difference
phil_m replied to atomeec's topic in POD 2.0, POD XT, Pocket POD, FloorPODs
Yes, that's normal. -
The 150 is very close dimensionally to a Fender Blues Deluxe, as you can see in a picture I took here. I think it's like an inch smaller in all dimensions, but if you're looking for a hard case, one made for the Blues Deluxe would probably work well.
