Temple has a planner utility on their website. The Duo 24 is basically big enough for the Helix and nothing else with it.

What do you mean by "plugged in at mains"? When the XLR outs are connected?

Having a way to turn the tuner on instantly is at least technically feasible. Whether or not it will ever happen, I don't know. As far as having the tuner be constantly active, I don't think that's a possibility because the tuner itself uses some amount of DSP. So it could potentially break some existing presets by pushing them over the DSP limit.

Yes, there's a way around it - get an external expression pedal. Barring that, you can toggle the function of the expression pedal per snapsnot.

I haven't had any issues with 2.81. I've played a number of gigs with it now, and it's been fine. I did run into the one thing where it was getting stuck in Preset select mode, but doing a factory reset took care of that. That should be one of the first troubleshooting steps to take if you run into something weird. It seems to clear up a lot things.

I have the day off today, so I was able to finish this this morning. All the guitar and bass parts were done with Helix Native. I used my Helix Floor as the interface to record them all. I was playing around with one of my Mesa Lonestar presets and really liked the way it was sounding with my Tele. The rhythm parts are all the American Pro Tele, and the lead parts are all my American Deluxe Fat Strat. All the guitars are made using the same preset as the foundation, although I did make a separate one for the Growler part in the middle. The bass is an American Pro P-Bass through the Ampeg B15-NF model. I did add some post EQ and compression to the bass, but there's no post-processing on the guitars (other than the master compression/limiting for the entire track). Drums are SSD5. https://soundcloud.com/phil-miller-20/eat-your-greens

Why helix hardware sounds better than the plugin??
phil_m replied to willyjacksonjs22's topic in Helix
I'm sure that's not the case... If you enable monitoring through your DAW, you're hearing the audio being processed in real-time (real-time including whatever latency there is, of course). That's the case for all VSTs, really. -
The one thing I should add is that you will get this "boot error" message while updating to 2.81 (assuming your new unit has a pre-2.80 firmware installed on it). Just hit the "OK" prompt in Updater, and the update will continue. This isn't necessarily part of the normal update process. It's just something that they had to do because of some internal architecture changes with the 2.80 update. So don't panic when you see this screen:

I think using the Helix hardware as the source of the dry track for Native is the best way to go if you want to ensure you have matching tones from the hardware and Native. -
With a new unit, you don't need to worry about creating a backup before updating, so just follow instructions 2 - 4 in the first post in this thread. When you download HX Edit, the installer will have everything you need. It gives you the latest version of HX Edit, the drivers (if you're using Windows), and the latest version of Line 6 Updater. You should also do a factory reset after updating just to clear any cobwebs, so to speak. Hold down footswitches 7 & 8 while powering up to do that.

JTV-69 Bridge Shifted?
phil_m replied to jamiek03's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Looks like the sort of issue being discussed in the article below. Bolt-on necks can become crooked sometimes. https://www.premierguitar.com/articles/21270-guitar-shop-101-how-to-fix-a-misaligned-3-bolt-neck -

IMO, you'd be better off compensating for the output difference from your pickups in Native itself rather than with the interface. -

What you really want is unity gain from the interface. I'm not sure where that would be on the Scarlett, but on other interfaces it would be with the knob all the way down. Native is very sensitive to input levels, so you'd want instrument level, like you said - ideally with no gain added. -
If you're talking about bypassing effects, you can accomplish the same sort of behavior as a momentary switch by using the expression pedal's auto-engage feature. You could have it set up so that the effects engage when you move the pedal past 95%, for instance, and turn off when you move back.
-
If you set the channel selector to Auto, and insert the transmitter in the dock for 15 seconds or so, the receiver will scan for the best channel and set itself and the transmitter to that. That would be the first thing to try. When you say you're out in front of the stage, does that mean you're on the floor in front of an elevated stage? The G10S will work best when there's a clear line of sight between the transmitter and receiver. It's not that you can't have some obstructions, but the obstructions do reduce the range of the unit.

With the same input source/dry track, Native and the hardware will sound exactly the same. The guitar inputs on the Helix hardware are optimized for electric guitars in a way that most generic audio interfaces aren't. -
If it's brand new, and you haven't saved any presets, just do a factory reset. Hold down FS2 & FS3 while powering up, and that will reset everything.
-
Yes, it's normal. The audio coming from your computer into the Helix from the USB connection bypasses all processing in the Helix.
-
Have you tried doing a FS7 & FS8 reset?
-
If by editor you mean HX Edit, no it doesn't show up there. It does show up in Powercab Edit, I believe. The Powercab global settings are things you'd "set and forget". Not things you'd change on a preset per preset basic.
-
Did you create a backup before updating? Just do a reset and restore from backup.
-
I don’t think Line 6 has ever supported a beta iOS release.
-
One thing I’d say is there’s no reason to assign the Variax Tunings parameter itself to the snapshot controller - just set it to Custom for the entire preset and assign the individual string tunings to the snapshot controller.
-
No, the Helix can’t switch modes on the StageSource speakers.
